The thought warmed him, but he frowned at the box. “Those will not work for me, love. I have some in my bag.”
She held up the box and looked between his legs, nodding her agreement and tossing them over one shoulder. She was back on the bed, a few moments later, with one of his condoms in her hands.
She tore the condom packet open with a steady hand. Her eyes burned into his. She was gorgeous and powerful and so sexy he couldn’t breathe as she knelt beside him. Together, they rolled the condom onto him, and each inch the rubber rolled down felt like a promise, a signature, her name written all over him. It was an agreement between them. An invitation to come inside of her.
She crawled forward and fastened her mouth to his. He rose up onto his knees, his hands tangled in the hair at the back of her head. They met one another in the middle of the bed, both of them on their knees. She brought one leg up, wrapping around him. He braced her back and her ass and began to lay her back. Halfway down, the tip of him found its way a scant inch inside of her.
They both froze, halfway laid down on the bed, tangled and trembling, their mouths sucking on each other.
He pushed forward, slowly, giving her time, giving himself time, determined to make this soft and messy and lasting. By the time her back was on the bed, he was fully seated inside of her and she was gasping into his mouth, clasping those long legs all the way around him.
They held like that for a long time. Moreau was content to hold there, right there. He was a patient lover by nature, and with Geo, he found himself infinitely fascinated with every breath, every glint of lamplight on her irises, the wild arc of her hair.
Geo, however, seemed to making some great journey within the confines of her own mind. Her fingers clamped hard against his back. He felt her ankles lock together around his waist. When he lifted his head to see her, her eyes were glassy with tears.
“Are you all right, my love?” he asked her, suddenly concerned that he’d aggravated her injury.
“Yes,” she gasped, and one of the tears spilled out and raced down her cheek. “I can’t believe this. I’m not a crier. Never. I am not crying during sex.”
“Savannah,” he said in a husky voice. He started to pull out of her but she grabbed him tight and held him still.
“Don’t go. I’m just… I’m having a moment.”
“Tell me about your moment,” he whispered against her cheek, his lips wetted by her tear.
“I—” She cut herself off and banged her head back on the mattress. “I’m stupid in love with you, Moreau.” Her dark eyes found his and simply sliced him in two. “And it’s more than just romantic love. I love you in all the ways one person can love another person. I’m wide open for you. Completely. God.”
She slammed her eyes shut for a moment and then fluttered them open when one of his own tears hit her forehead.
She laughed and so did he, both of them overcome with the intimacy, the beauty, the relief at finally, finally getting here, to this perfect moment.
“We are both total pussies,” she informed him.
He laughed, dropping his lips to hers. “I’m fine with that.”
“Me too.”
It was then that he started a slow grind of his hips, not thrusting into her, just pressing himself insistently against her. Making sure she felt every inch of him.
She started gasping, her eyes going unfocused as she chased her pleasure. He was overcome with the tight sheath of her. With every circular grind of his hips, her arms squeezed him tighter, her fingers gripped him harder. A sheen of hot sweat was starting to bloom where they clutched one another, but that just made them cling even harder. Her ankles were locked, his face jammed into the crook of her neck. He had a hold of her hair and the sheet, his elbows and knees taking his weight as she clawed her way even closer to him. His feet slipped on the sheets as he tried his best to grind his love firmly into her body.
He’d never felt this way before. He was utterly surrounded by her. He was on top, but even so, somehow, she was still protecting him.
This, this right here, was the opposite of being alone. This was being so joined with a person there wasn’t even air between them.
Suddenly, she clamped down on him, her wetness tightening like a fist around him, rhythmically pulsing. She gasped his name into his ear, and he swelled with the pride of having given her pleasure, of being allowed to be this close to her, of being the man that she loved this hard.
She pulsed beneath him for a few ragged breaths before her hands planted on his shoulders and she was pushing him over onto his back. They rolled without breaking their connection, but they went from being crushed close to one another to her sitting atop him like a queen on her throne.
Heat rose off of him in great sheets as she tossed her hair out of her face, planted her hands on his chest, and rose up off of him. He wanted her to control the pace at first because of her injury, but all thoughts of that went out the window when she started to ride him.
Her eyes fell closed, she came off him a few inches, thrust back down, and swiveled. This was her intoxicating rhythm that drugged him. He was hypnotized by the sway of her, the taste of her on his tongue, the image of her taking her pleasure from her body.
In the moments before she came again, Moreau knew, with a wry sort of glee, that he was little more than a sex toy for her. Geo was a focused, passionate woman and she was gonna get hers. God, he loved her so much. There was no one else like her.
When she collapsed down over his chest, her breath cooling him where it splashed over his face, she was back to him, back to earth, keyed into him again.
She planted her palms next to his ears and pushed up, nose to nose with him. “When you thought about me, before you had me, what did you imagine?”
“Hmm?” He was trying to focus on her words, but it was hard with her hips work, work, working him like that.
“I know you used to think dirty things about me. Before we were together. What would you think about?”
Ah, so she wanted to play that game. He traced the hourglass of her shape, gripped her hips, and gently pulled her off of him. “Better yet, I’ll show you.”
“Yes,” she hissed when he put her on all fours and came around behind her. Moreau found her first with his fingers and then gently, firmly, slid into her to the hilt.
He was saying her name on repeat but couldn’t find a reason to stop. She was everything.
He lowered down so that his palms bracketed hers on the bed, his head next to hers. She twisted her face to kiss him and he lost himself. His thrusts into her were deep and insistent and desirous. They demanded and gave in equal measure. Their skin was slippery and electric. As long as he lived, he’d never forget the sound of their bodies coming together.
“I can’t—” he gritted his teeth. “Much longer. I have to—”
“Yes,” she panted. “Yes, baby. Take what you need. Please. Take it.”
Spots swam in his vision when he reared up to his knees and gripped her hips. He pounded into her shamelessly, moving his hips and moving hers to meet him. She took every stroke, her hair tossed up over her head as she peered over her shoulder, greedily staring as he finally took his pleasure inside of her.
She jutted back and ground her hips against him as he thrust forward, a deep growl reverberating in his chest as his body went into a total rictus.
“Yes,” she said.
“Yes,” he agreed.
They took one more breath and tumbled bonelessly to the bed.
CHAPTER SEVENTEEN
“Davy, you bastard.”
Geo and Moreau both jolted up from their dead sleep, but Geo had the good sense to reach for the taser on her nightstand. She pointed it dead at the heart of the blurry figure in her doorway.
“Not a good plan to taze your boss when he’s already pissed as hell.”
“Oh.” Geo lowered the taser and nudged Moreau, who was looking utterly delirious with his eyes narrowed to slits and his hair sticking up
every which way. “Baby, Rook is mad at you.”
Geo tossed the taser back down and snuggled under the covers.
“Ah.” Moreau swiped a hand down his face and squinted into the dim light. “What time is it?”
“It’s about twelve hours after you disappeared from the face of the earth and gave me a heart attack.”
“Right.”
Geo could hear the chagrin in Moreau’s voice. She knew he hadn’t really wanted to scare the team when he’d disappeared, but getting back to her had been tantamount. Also, getting a few uninterrupted hours with her had felt pretty important at the time.
“I’m so sorry, Rook. I don’t know what came over me,” Moreau said sincerely.
There was a tense moment and then Rook laughed. “I, on the other hand, know exactly what came over you. Mazel, you two.”
Geo laughed. “Really? That’s all you have to say when you find an employee screwing a client on company property?”
“Yeah. Geo, when you’re back on duty we’ll talk about it. Sequence has breakfast going if you two wanna come down.”
He closed the door as he left and Moreau turned, lifted up the covers and dove into her. Geo listened to herself giggle with something like sheer amazement. She was not, and never had been, a giggler. Yet here she was.
“Mmm,” he groaned. “You taste good.” He nipped along her neck to her shoulder.
“I’m positive I taste like sweat and sex.”
“Exactly.”
She laughed again and let him continue his kisses. She tightened as a thought occurred to her and he immediately stopped making out with her sternum to look up at her. “What is it?”
“Nothing.”
“Savannah…”
“All right, I just started thinking about all the things I can afford now that I don’t have to hemorrhage money into my father’s debts anymore.”
She still didn’t have her contacts in or glasses on, so his epic smile was more of an epically white blur where his chin rested on her chest.
“Things like what?”
“Oh…” she stretched. “The good kind of dark chocolate. And craft beer. And new running shoes. And…”
He nudged her. “And?”
“And maybe a new apartment, so I don’t have to live at the bunker anymore.” She frowned.
He reached up and traced her frown with one finger. “Why would this make you sad?”
She shrugged. “Because the bunker is kind of our home, you know? Whenever you’re here, this is where you live, and I guess I’ll just be sad to leave it behind. Even if it’s definitely time for me to have my own place again.”
“Savannah,” he said in a deep, grumbly voice. “When I’m in New York now, I’ll just come to stay with you instead of staying at the bunker.”
“But what about—?”
“The details will figure themselves out. Or rather, Rook will figure the details out. Because that is his job as the head of my security. My only priority is being with you. Right there with you.”
“Okay,” she whispered. “But what if I can only afford to live someplace shitty? Are you gonna be okay with that?”
“Yes,” he answered resolutely and made her fall even more in love with him. “But I’m also going to spend a good amount of energy convincing you to let me buy you a very nice place with everything you’ve ever wanted.”
She rolled her eyes and laughed. “Everything I’ve ever wanted?”
“Yes.” He took up kissing her again, raising his head to throw out suggestions. “Like an in-unit washer and dryer.” She gasped when he took one of her nipples in his mouth and tugged. “An actual kitchen.” He was kissing down her stomach now. They’d slept naked so there was nothing between his breath and her body as he placed one of her thighs and then the other over his shoulders. And then he swung the kill-stroke. “A gym in the basement.”
She moaned, partly from the idea of having a gym in her basement, but mostly because he’d just flattened his tongue and swiped perfectly through all of her wetness. Last night, he’d been ruthless in his attack on her body, he’d brought her to orgasm astonishingly fast. But this morning, apparently he was feeling lazy and indulgent. He stroked through and over her, suckling one side and then the other, plunging his tongue as far into her as he could.
Geo trembled and endured, taking everything he was giving her, letting him unravel her. When she arched hard and gasped his name as quietly as she could, stars bursting inside of her, he stayed where he was. He continued to lick and love on her until she quivered with sensitivity and he collapsed forward, his cheek resting on her hip.
“Holy god,” she gasped, trying to refamiliarize herself with the concept of air. “That was…”
“Go on,” he urged her and even with blurry vision, she could see the smug look on his face.
She rolled her eyes and slid out of bed to grab another condom from his bag.
“Grab my glasses,” he called to her.
“Nuh uh.” She shook her head. “Blurry sex is hot.”
She tore the condom and sheathed him with it in that easy, skillful way she had with everything.
Then, she slid back into bed, slipping her body against his like they were spoons.
He chuffed in surprise at her choice of positions, but didn’t hesitate to push forward into her. He clasped one arm over her clavicles and one hand at her hip as he started to thrust, thrust, thrust into her.
“Shit,” he murmured into her ear. “I can’t slow down. But it’s too loud. They’ll hear.”
It was true. The bed was banging against the wall, their breaths becoming choppy and apparent.
“Who cares?” she demanded. “Don’t stop.”
And he didn’t. He thrust into her relentlessly, their position falling forward so that she was splayed almost on her stomach, his strong body powering into her from behind.
Geo was overcome with the pleasure of it, the joy of it. So this was what sex was like with someone you deeply trusted.
His hand dusted down between her legs and she was arched and wild, the bed slamming the wall, his teeth pinning her shoulder to the bed.
When she exploded this time, she took him with her. The two of them clawing at the bed, grabbing each other, whispering and panting.
They collapsed to the bed, but then Geo was grabbing his hands and hoisting him out.
“Shower,” she told him.
“Mmm,” he grumbled into the pillow, obviously still trying to catch his breath.
“Come on, old man. Shower time.”
That insult got him out of bed, but it didn’t get the scowl off his face. “Why are we out of bed?” he asked, hissing when she turned on the shower and shoved him into it before it had gotten warm.
“Because I’m taking you to meet my dad this morning.”
“Oh!” He immediately stopped shrinking from the frigid water and instead dunked his face and hair into it. “Hand me the shampoo, my love.”
She shook her head and did just that, waiting for the water to warm up before she snuggled her way under the spray.
“I hate to ask and potentially spoil it, but why are you letting me meet him so soon?” He started soaping up her hair. “I thought you wanted to wait for a while.”
She shrugged. “When I got back to NYC, I just really, really didn’t want to go see him. It was like everything in my body was telling me not to go. I don’t know. I’m mad at him for being such a mooch. Now that it’s over, now that I’ll finally be able to have some money of my own, it’s like I can breathe again. I can see just how much of a squeeze it put on me to give him all my money, you know?”
He nodded.
“But this morning, when I thought, I should go visit him today, I imagined going with you and it didn’t feel so bad. I feel like, if I go with you, the whole thing will be easier. For me at least. It might be terrible for you. If it’s bad, you don’t have to go back.”
He smiled at her and led her under the spray again, wor
king his fingers through her hair to get the shampoo out. “Geo, it doesn’t matter if it’s bad for me. Isn’t that part of what having in-laws is? We’ll figure it out.” He bounced on the balls of his feet. “Oh! I’m actually very excited.”
She smiled and washed his hair. They dressed and Moreau made a big deal out of how pretty she looked in jeans and a green sweater.
“Green!” he said, a grin on his face. Like green was a new and totally foreign concept to him. Apparently, he was utterly delighted to see her in anything that wasn’t pajamas or her work uniform.
They endured an unholy amount of teasing when they stopped for breakfast in the kitchen.
It was Atlas who burst their bubble a bit. “I’ll drive you two to Queens.”
“What?” Moreau asked, his brow furrowing. “But we can drive ourselves… oh. Right.”
Geo smiled at him with a little shrug. “This is a time of high caution for you, Moreau. And I’m still technically not fit for duty. We need one of the team with us.”
Moreau took a deep breath and nodded. He turned to Rook. “We’re not still on lockdown, are we?”
Rook shook his head. “I wouldn’t let you out of the bunker if we were. I’m going to alter your security plans this afternoon. The team knows that they’re going to be on fairly active duty while we let all this media craziness die down. But things will more or less go back to normal.”
“Good,” Moreau said. “You all need some time with your families.”
Everyone, it seemed, agreed.
Atlas drove them out to Queens, but gave them a very polite amount of distance once they got to the center.
Geo’s eardrums were nearly burst when Loretta spotted them coming through the front lobby. “G, you sneak! How many years have we been friends and you never told me that Moreau Davy was your man?”
“It’s kind of a new thing!” Geo insisted and then just sort of shoved Moreau into Loretta’s path, hoping his movie star-ness would stop her in her tracks.
It sure did.
Loretta’s eyes became the size of plums and Geo could actually see the pulse in her throat.
