“Our tech doesn’t work here in… this universe,” said KC…on to something. “Then the tech of this universe shouldn’t work in our universe. Isn’t it?”

  “Theoretically that’s correct,” said Crona.

“Run a simulation and check if Jenny can survive in our universe,” said KC. The poison in her blood should not behave as a ‘poison in our universe’ that should be our solution! And while you are at it,” added KC, “time jump Garmin 50 years back in a time loop. To the time he had discovered this parallel universe. Erase his memory from that time till now. Let him work 50 years over and over again to meet the same end again and again and realize the truth that he is living in a 50-year time loop only at the end every time. Only to begin the time loop all over again. Death would be too easy and too little a punishment for him.”

“Directive Commander,” said Crona as she did the needful and began analysing the existence scenarios for Jenny in their universe.

“Commander…” said Crona after a brief pause. “I have run all scenarios and confirmed. If Jenny is location-jumped to our universe… the poison will lose substantial effect,” confirmed Crona.

  “Substantial effect..!” repeated KC.

“Precisely,” said Crona. “I have analysed the coded message in Jenny’s blood stream. They are ‘neutral matter nano particles’. Over a period of time these particles will be exposed to highly saturated electromagnetic waves in our universe that we use for communication, transportation and for every basic need, including our walls. As these particles in Jenny’s blood are exposed to these otherwise harmless waves, they will get charged and magnetized. When that starts to happen, it will paralyse Jenny eventually, one body system at a time until her complete body fails,” concluded Crona.

“So… how much time can she survive in our universe?” asked KC as he clenched his fists. He didn’t want to lose her after all they had been through together.

  “5 to 10 years… maximum,” replied Crona.

“There must be something that we can do to save her,” said KC as he looked at Jenny. She looked so beautiful… as she lay still in her transparent freeze state container. “I will not lose her. There has to be some way out.”

“Commander, there is one high-risk option,” replied Crona.

“Shoot…” said KC. “No risk is big enough.”

“Our time, that is 2956, has high wave saturation. Therefore, she won’t survive there, so instead of location-jumping Jenny to our time, we can location-jump her to the 21st century in our universe,” continued Crona. “I have calculated a stable contact time in the 21st century. Being the 21st century in our universe, the effect of the poison will be neutralised and as the wave saturation will be non-existent then, the tech in the 21st century was very low grade and primitive. Therefore, the poison in her blood will get too diluted to cause any harm for any amount of time.”

“Also, the 21st century has another significance. It is the time that holds the genesis to the formation of the AMU,” explained Crona. “If we can somehow strengthen the formative AMU in the year 2017, we could make AMU even stronger than what it is today and get rid of the Garmanien menace forever. But… like I said, it’s a high-risk option.”

  “Let’s do it,” said KC.

“But Commander…” said Zaul with a slight hesitation. “You love her. And this way, you will be separated not just by distance but by irrevocable time. You will ultimately lose her.”

“At least she will be alive,” said KC. “And even ‘Time’ can’t separate us forever. I will meet her there..., briefly,” said KC. “I will change time, bend events and put an end to the Garmin reign once and for all. And then we shall unite again.”

“Commander, time-jumping can be extremely dangerous,” explained Crona to impose caution. “If you go back in time…even a slight uncontrolled change in events, can have catastrophic and cascading effect in the future of that time.”

“I will go to the contact time one year after Jenny gets there. I will boost the foundations of the AMU and return,” declared Commander KC.

Cdr Raul, Akil and Amin also present in the class-E battle ship appealed KC not to take this high-risk step. “The AMU,” they argued, “is strong. We do not need to take this step.”

“We cannot be in oblivion to the expanse in the universe,” said KC. “This parallel dimension was lurking in our backyard for the past 50 years and we knew nothing of it,” he added. “Even with all our might, our advanced tech and Crona, we almost lost this battle today. If it were not for an accident, we would have never realized this threat until a full attack by a unified dimension led by Garmin against ours would have materialised. Who knows what lies ahead of us! We just command a modest three sectors of the known universe. There may be tens more. We got to learn from our mistakes,” explained KC.

No one questioned. The Commander had spoken. He spoke out of duty and love. No one doubted the priority of these two.

“Commander, since we have never explored the option of a ‘time-jump’ before, I can assure of physical integrity after the jump, however, the mind will be rebooted. Which means, your memory will be lost, and the brain will require a trigger to remember everything or possibly a period of up to a year to recollect all memory. This is the cost of a time travel, Commander…,” explained Crona.

“…Since Jenny will time jump one year before you and therefore, she will regain her memory before you do. She can guide you to your goal. And since we will not be able to communicate with her directly, I will leave a note with her to remind her who she actually is! But Commander… I can’t warn you adequately enough how disoriented you will be when you begin to realize the truth in that time. You will have to focus on the task and somehow steer clear off Jenny. I am running 10 million simulated scenarios and every time it gets deviously… tricky.”

“Cdr this whole plan is… extremely risky!” said Cdr Akil as he heard Crona. “Too many variables. It’s uncertain to say the least.”

KC looked at a map of the AMU expanding three sectors as he raised his wall and through his transparent wall, he could also see Jenny lie motionless.

“There is no limit to what a person can achieve. Fear often limits us. It defines our boundary. And fear shall not limit us. All hear and let it be known across the universe. That this is not the end… but just the beginning.”

  Earth: 2017

The door of the Pizza shop opened. The bell on top of the door moved giving out its distinct sound.

“I’d like to order a medium, regular crust pizza please,” said the girl as she placed her order at the take away counter.

“Hi… I am… Jo. You’ll get your order in five. What Name… Should I order the bill to..?” asked the boy at the counter as he looked at the girl with the beautiful green eyes and… almost lost track of time!

“Jenny…,” replied the girl smiling as she looked at Jo. “Hey, have I seen you before? You look awfully familiar.”

  The Beginning.
