"Hey you, answer me! I didn't come all the way to take up your attitude. These shares belonged to your father, and now they belong to you. So buckle up and earn some great profits, just like uncle Ben!" I clicked my fingers in front of her face.
That worked...well, at least my rough way of speaking shook her a bit, and now she was looking at me.
Emily closed her eyes and took a deep breath. "Listen Freya, I am not good at taking spontaneous decisions, and business is not my thing. Dad had always been disappointed with me; he never liked my fast lifestyle," she took a pause and shook her head. Then she walked up to one of those triangular wall racks in the living room, leaving the imprints of her wet feet on the wooden floor, which I suspected was made of real wood.
She stopped near a particular rack which contained those valuable music awards. "You see this? These are my dad's. He was a musician, and he could be a great one if he wanted to, but he chose to listen to his father. Dad gave up his music, only to prove to grandpa that he was a good son," she looked down with a sad face.
Maybe that was the face of a daughter who had lost her dad. For that moment, I actually felt sorry for her.
Then I saw tears coming out of her eyes.
Before I could reach to any conclusions about her expression, she spoke again, and why did it seem like she was crying? Aw shucks! She was crying for real.
"I am not strong enough to sacrifice my wishes. I want to enjoy each and every moment of my life. I don't want to suffocate myself with this burden. I want to roam around, just like a free bird," she said while wiping out the bits of tears that escaped her eyes.
I almost felt sorry for her. She was a young girl after all, and she had full right to enjoy her life.
I walked close to her and held her on the shoulders, and then I spoke, "no one is stopping you from enjoying your life. But you can't live your own company behind. It needs you, come on Emily, you are a smart girl, I bet you can handle everything," I said in a reassuring way.
She smirked, nodding her head, "nope, can't do it."
I was frustrated by now. "But why?" I blurted out in a high pitched tone, tapping hard on the rack. Oops! I shouldn't have done that.
Her eyes widened, but she didn't react as I thought she would, she looked calm and not mean at all. "Because I'm pregnant. I am in love with a guy, and I want to marry him. My goal is pretty clear Freya; I want to be a good mother and that high profile fashionista whom everyone envies. I have tried this 'business thing' before, and it's not my cup of tea. Maybe that's why dad only gave me 30% of the shares." She said out loud without a single pause.
I let out a whistle of despair as my back hit the wall. Boy, that was pretty intense. I looked up to her to cut off her lame excuses; she began sniffing and crying again. Jeez! Not again, I was not good at handling crying people. And why the hell was I feeling bad for her? I was here so that I could shift my entire burden to her, not to be her sorority sister.
Then she sat down on the floor. That's it Freya! Now you have no other way but to console her. Said the voices in my head. Arghh! That was so not me. I should have bought Rick or Danny with me.
Wait...Danny had been hanging out a lot with Emily, yes I clearly remembered. I was the one to set them up. Was she pregnant with Danny's child?
My breath became heavier, and I could feel the presence of that sweat drops on my forehead. Danny! He was a total playboy, he was never serious with any of his relationships, and I was 100% sure that Danny was not going to marry her. But how am I gonna tell that to this I-am-so-in-love girl? I asked myself.
God! This was like real shit!
But before telling her, I needed to deal with Danny. He didn't have any right to play with the emotions of a girl. Not to mention when she actually liked him.
I clenched my feet and got on my heels to unload all of my anger on Danny's face.
My impulses guided me to break into Danny's apartment, hold him by the collars and then demand an explanation for the mess he had created. I mean come on! It was so lame to knock up someone and then leave them out like garbage.
Danny did not have any feelings for Emily. He had just informed me last week that he was hooking up with a girl named...ahh shit! Me and my habit of forgetting things! I got this. Her name was Diana. I was pretty much sure that I heard him correctly, Danny said that he was gonna stick up to that girl. Then what about Emily?
I knew life was gonna screw me up sooner or later. It never treated me well, and when it did, it meant that something bad was coming up on the cards. That's why; the events from the past few days just seemed too good to be true. My boss was happy with me, and I had almost absorbed the vibes of my new place. Well, I wasn't happy, but it was kinda peaceful.
And now I was back in New York again, trying to solve a problem which practically had no solution.
While getting out of the main gate of Ben Wyatt's house, it occurred to me that I hadn't informed anyone about my arrival. I was so keen to wrap up this thing with Emily that I almost forgot about my friends. Typical Freya Lawrence thing.
I shook my head and reached for my phone, which was right there, inside my baby pink overcoat. It was almost winter, so my choice of clothing was just perfect for me.
I texted Rick. "Bro, I'm back in town, got a cheap flight ticket last night. BTW can you pick me up from Ben Wyatt's place? "
The reply came almost immediately. It read "sure sis, I'll be right there. I'm so happy that you are back. See you soon :) "
I smiled seeing that text. I felt so alone when my parents turned their backs on me. They didn't even make an effort to contact me. It was as if I was dead to them. I had been using my same old number all the time, hoping for the day they would take out the time to miss me and call me to know if I was okay, or how was I coping up with life. But they never called.
On the contrary, Robert used to call me every morning to check on my mood. Once I had told him that I loved to hear his sleepy voice, from that day onwards, as soon as his eyes opened in the morning, the first thing he used to do was to call me. I loved waking up to his sexy voice, and my name never sounded that good in anyone's voice.
I wanted to erase all those memories that hurt me, maybe that was why I had changed my number. In that way, I could never expect a call from my parents. I wished I could change the settings of my memory too, I so wanted to delete all those painful memories that just kept coming back to me again and again.
I took some deep breaths. Those thoughts were really shaking me up, and suddenly my knees started feeling weak. Damn! It looked like I was standing there forever. Before I could even begin to complain, Rick's car arrived there. Ahh! Just on time.
"Are you kidding me? Danny can totally do this. He is a bloody womanizer. You got it right sis," Rick exclaimed as he drove the car.
"But Rick, this is really bad. Emily is going to be totally heartbroken. She is too hung up in this relationship or whatever it is," I twisted my lips in annoyance.
"Now what?" Rick raised his eyebrows.
"Let's go to Danny's place and kick his ass. That's the least I can do to calm down my anger," I gritted my teeth.
"Cool. This sounds like fun," Rick winked.
I gave him an ‘are-you-out-of-your-mind’ look.
"Hey, don't judge me. I have been dying to go on these crazy adventures with you. It has been ages since I did anything fun!" He spoke with excitement dripping from his voice.
I shook my head, "this looks like fun to you? Do you realize what would happen to Danny if Emily Wyatt filed a rape case against him? That idiot will have to rot in jail for some nights of 'fun'. Money speaks brother." I ranted in tension.
"Why are you burning your head for him? It's not your fault he doesn't know how to use a condom. And if Emily sends him to jail, it will serve him just right!" Rick stated.
"Burning my head? I want to kill him right now. If he hadn't knocked up that Barbie doll, then she would have never thought about quitting her business. It's all his fault,
" I stomped.
"Calm down. Look, we are in front of Danny's building. Now go inside and try not to kill him," he joked, passing me the keys to Danny's apartment.
"You have his keys?" My brow creased.
"Ya, his place is close to my office, so I sometimes use it as a crash pad," he winked.
"Whatever. Aren't you coming in?" I asked.
"Sure. But let me park the car first, you go ahead, press 7 on the elevator button," he instructed.
I got out of the car, and a thought struck me. I began scratching my head, "umm...one tiny detail, do you know if he is at home right now?" I asked.
"Sis, it's a Sunday afternoon. He never gets out till the sun goes down, maybe he is sleeping, and I mean not alone" Rick winked.
"Shut up. I am not going there alone, what if I see something bad?" I frowned, shaking my head.
Then I continued, "my sanity is already at risk. Now, I don't want to risk my eyesight by seeing something disgusting," I squealed.
Rick laughed, "okay, then wait up for me."
"Sis, everything is clear, you can come inside," Rick reassured while leaning on the white door of Danny's apartment. I had never really come here since he moved into this building.
Rick was pressing his lips to stop himself from giggling, I knew something was fishy, but I decided to go for it anyways. Actually, I was too tired to think of anything.
As I stepped into the living room, my nostrils were filled with the smell of unwashed clothes and beer. Yuck! The place reminded me that of a dumpster. Food items were spread all over the floor, and I could barely spot those gray sofas which were hidden under those messy piles of clothes. Jeez! How could someone live here?
The last time I had visited Danny's house, it didn't look like this. "What happened to this place?" I asked in a disturbed voice.
Rick's expression mirrored mine. "No idea sis, maybe he was too busy to clean up this place," he suggested.
"Anyways, where is he?" I asked.
"Bedroom," Rick pointed again with his sly smile was coming around.
Boys!
I shook my head and knocked on the bedroom door. When no reply came from inside, we concluded that he was sleeping, and we pushed the door open. Sleep was too good for him!
Shit! Why did I step in there? No, No, this was bad I mean really bad.
A fully naked blonde girl with huge breasts was sitting on her knees, on the floor. Her mouth was filled with Danny's manhood. Danny was sitting on the bed and had positioned himself in front of her face, and the girl took his cock in one hand and swirled her tongue around the tip. Then she ran her tongue up and down his hard shaft. After a few seconds, she took him deep into her throat. He groaned and pushed deeper. He then pulled back and slowly pushed his cock deep again.
While the blondie was sucking him, he pushed two of his fingers into her pussy as he fucked her throat. He was thrusting gently in and out at the same rhythm that he was thrusting his fingers in and out of her. She grabbed his cock and started sucking the tip, working her hand up and down his shaft. She tightened her lips and took him deep and then all the way back up to the tip. She did this over and over and a little deeper and harder each time. It looked like she was about to gag on it.
From where I was standing I was only getting the side views, but I could see that the girl was really beautiful and had a petite figure. My point was, if she was so beautiful, then why was she wasting her life with Danny? I agree Danny was good-looking, but that wasn't everything a girl saw in a guy.
Unable to bear the sight of that disgusting scene, I turned around. There I saw Rick, he was smiling and winking. "See sis, I was right," he uttered.
"Yuck! Rick, I will kill you for making me watch this disgusting thing. I will puke right on your face!" I scolded him.
"Guys...umm...you here...what…a...surp…rise" Danny's broken voice came from behind.
"Are you dressed?" I stomped.
"Ya-Ya. You can turn around, I wore my pants, and Diana ran into the washroom," his voice still sounded unready.
Chapter Fifty-Three
Freya
"Is there anything you guys can't ruin?" Danny complained, and as I opened my mouth to speak, he continued again, "and you, first you turn down my proposal, break my heart, ran away from here, and suddenly you are back. I mean how?" He asked with a disturbed expression as he roamed around his bedroom.
Rick and I were standing in the corner with our faces down.
"Now can someone at least speak up?" He ran his hand over his head.
I walked up to him. "Really, you are getting mad at us? I should have never been friends with you in the first place. How can you value my friendship? Women are just a plaything for you; you play with them and knock them up too. God knows how many women are carrying your child!" I spoke angrily.
He looked at me like I was speaking in some other language. "What did you say?" He asked.
I squinted my eyes, "yes, you heard me right. It's your game. First, you give hopes to people, you cause them to see a future with you, and then you just break their hearts. "My tone went lower and sad as I continued, "you are angry because I refused to be your girlfriend. At least I didn't play sick games with you like you played with Emily. For God's sake, she is carrying your child. Are you even aware of that?" I asked.
"What? Danny, what is all this?" Diana appeared from the washroom.
"Yes, your boyfriend knocked up someone," Rick added.
She stared at Danny in disbelief.
"Guys, have you lost it? Baby, it's not true. They are making a mistake." Danny reached to Diana and tried his best to convince her. But Diana seemed like a hard nut to crack. "Fine! If you are telling the truth, then prove it!" She demanded rigidly.
"Huh! You bet she can" Rick smirked and patted on my hand.
"Cinderella's step sisters, I can prove my innocence. Let's go to Emily and ask her and everything will be cleared." He said confidently.
Rick and I eyed each other in confusion as we said in unison "Cinderella's stepsisters?"
"Yes, you guys are totally acting like those mean vamps, and I am the poor Cinderella," he said making a sad face as he leaned on the shoulder of his tall girlfriend.
We had a hard time controlling our laugh when Diana pushed him away. "We still need to see who the real vamp is," she said while giving mean looks to Danny.
"Sis, Danny is so dead," Rick whispered, and we hi-fived.
"Please believe me, guys, I didn't knock her up. I always carry a packet of condom with me," he frowned.
"Good. It means you are always ready to get laid. Hmm…" I said innocently.
To our delight, Diana looked at him angrily and grabbed him by his T-shirt. "Now I am damn sure that they are right. You asshole!" And she stepped on his barefoot with her high heels. Danny screamed, and we were pressing our lips to stop ourselves from laughing out loud.
With that, Diana flipped her hair and walked out the door.
"Wait, baby, please. Let me prove that they are lying. Give me a chance!" Danny requested.
His words seemed to melt her.
She stopped and turned, "okay, one last chance."
Jeez! Had I made any mistake in judging Danny? He looked really genuine. While I was thinking this, I began chewing my nails.
"Hey sis, don't fall for his trap, he is just trying to fool us," Rick whispered.
"I hope so." I uttered in a low voice that barely reached my own ears.
The 20-minute car drive from Danny's place to Mr. Wyatt's house seemed to be taking forever. Actually, I was totally fed up with the constant whining of Danny. Rick too had the same annoyed and I-had-enough -of -your -crap expression on his face. Thank God! I didn't date him, that guy was super clingy and super needy. Umm...whatever! It did the trick for some girls. Every guy was not mature and classy like my Robert. I sighed deeply as his thought crossed my mind. There was not a single moment when he was not in my mind. I could stop breathing, but I could not stop thinking about
him.
I knew he was up there somewhere looking out for me, getting worried for me, as he always was when he was close to me. He was still close to me, maybe not in person, but his memories were safe in my heart. I tried hard to forget him but failed miserably. And now I had stopped trying, maybe I was destined for this never ending craving.
"Hello! Drama queen, how much are you guys going to charge for getting out of the car?" Danny's taunting tone shook me out of my thoughts.
"Hmm...Looks like someone is getting too excited for his own funeral," I mocked while stepping out. Rick laughed.
Danny shook his head, "I can't believe my best friends are doing this to me."
"Hey, dude! You are the one who actually DID it," said Rick emphasizing on the word 'did'.
"Guys please stop being so childish. Can we go in already?" she asked.
We nodded and stepped inside. The gatekeeper already knew me, so he opened the door without taking permission from Emily.
"Sis, I hope we will not get a repeat telecast of the scene that we saw today in Danny's bedroom," Rick joked.
"Shut your face. Emily is not that type." I stated while entering the living room.
"Are you sure?" Rick winked. His question confused me, but before I could think about that, a jaw-dropping view caused my head to take a spin.
Emily Wyatt was passionately kissing a guy. The guy was of medium height and was wearing a tailored white shirt and brown pants. His feature looked very familiar. Ugh, where had I seen that hero type guy before?
"Oh, my! Damn! Is that Shawn Hunt?” Diana screamed delightfully, breaking their romantic moment.
"Shawn Hunt, who?" I asked Rick.
"Sis, he is a TV star. He has the lead role of a soap opera and girls are willing to do just about anything for him. What is so special about him anyway?" Rick's tone resembled that of jealousy.
Emily smiled and came near us, holding his hand. "Freya, I am so glad you came back, meet my fiancé, Shawn Hunt. We are going to get married by the end of this month. I am so excited!" She jumped and hugged me.
