Loyalty: A Salvation Society Novel Page 13

by Heather Dahlgren

  “I promise,” she whispers.

“Think we have time to mess around before those idiots are ready to go?” I ask, wiggling my eyebrows.

She laughs and stands up. “Promise me something,” she says, pulling her shirt over her head. “Don’t ask for sex all the time, just grab me and push me against the wall and do it. Be spontaneous.”

I’ve got my shirt off and I’m stepping out of my jeans as she keeps walking backward, looking at me. “Baby, that’s a promise I intend on keeping.”

She steps out of her shorts and I take the two steps forward it takes to reach her. I lift her up, digging my fingers into her ass. I walk her to the window and press her back against it. Before she can say anything, I press my lips to hers and free my cock. I push her panties to the side and slam into her.

“Fuck,” she shouts, as her head falls back hitting the window.

I pound into her moving my hands into her panties to grab her ass. It’s hard, it’s fast, and it’s fucking perfect.

I bite her hard nipples through her bra, and she pulls my hair. I growl against her and the harder she pulls, the harder I bite.

“Kegan, oh god, I’m not going to last,” she says.

“I know, baby. I’m not either,” I groan.

I dig my fingers in harder and bite down on her neck as I slam into her. Her nails dig in and scrape down my arms. It’s fucking hot.

Mark me, angel. Show them I’m yours.

I slam into her over and over grabbing her ass harder. I suck on the soft skin of her tits that is exposed, marking her this time. Even if she’s the only one who sees.

“Kegan, oh fuck,” she shouts, losing her control.

It doesn’t take me long and I pull out right before I explode and my hot come shoots onto her stomach. I groan as I finish and drop my face into her neck.

“That was hot,” she says, running her fingers through my hair.

I lift my face and give her a wink. “You never need to worry about me pushing you against a wall and fucking you, baby. I’ll fuck you everywhere.”

She laughs as I place her back on her feet. I rush to the bathroom and grab a towel for her to clean up. Once we are cleaned up, we get dressed and sit down on the couch.

She clears her throat and I raise my eyebrow. “You said we should be honest right?” I nod and tense a bit. “How many women have you been with?”

  Shit.

  Chapter Fourteen

  Lorelei

As soon as the question leaves my mouth, I want to take it back. A part of me wants to know and a part of me is screaming don’t go there.

I shake my head and grab his arm. “Forget it, it’s no big deal.”

“But it’s something you’ve thought about? Something that bothers you?” he asks.

“Maybe, a little, I guess,” I say, feeling foolish.

He turns to face me, and I bite my lip. “I can’t give you a number because I don’t know.” He runs his hand through his hair and squeezes his neck. “I’m sorry.”

I force a smile and nod. “It’s fine.”

“Liar,” he says, calling me out.

I groan and cover my face. “Okay fine, I’m lying. I can’t help that I’m a little jealous of all the women that you've been with. I mean, we could be out somewhere and run into one at any time.”

He leans forward, pressing a soft kiss to my lips. “I wouldn’t know if we did.” My brows dip and he sighs. “I didn’t care enough to get a name, never mind trying to remember what they looked like. It was all fun and no feelings. You are the only woman to ever make me feel. The only one I’ve ever spent the night with. The only one to ever make me want even more. You should not be jealous of the faceless, nameless women of my past. They were a distraction and nothing else.”

My heart is pounding in my chest as I see the sincerity in his eyes. I climb onto his lap and wrap my arms around him, resting my face in his neck. “Okay, that worked.”

I laugh when he starts to tickle me and pins me down on my back. I stare up at his handsome face as his strong, colorful arms hold me in place. I still can’t believe this is real. I honestly keep waiting to wake up. This rock god wants me.

“Not so fast,” he says. “How many guys have you been with?”

I laugh and search his face. “Oh, you’re serious?” He nods and I bite my lip. I hate talking about my past relationships. They all sucked, and can you really consider it having sex if you don’t come?

  “Lorelei,” he pushes.

“Fine, I’ve been with ten guys.” His eyes widen and I lift my eyebrows. “Surprised?”

“I’m surprised it isn’t more,” he says, giving me that smirk. Shit. “Were they any good?”

I close my eyes and shake my head. “Not all of them,” I say, laughing.

  “But some?”

“Kegan, you told me not to be jealous, so you definitely don’t need to be. No one was comparable to you. Not in bed, not with looks, not in conversation.” I lean up and kiss him.

He pulls away when the guys knock on the door and grins. “Ready for some fun?”

We sit up and I tap my mouth with my finger. “Haven’t we been having fun?”

He laughs as he stands up. “Baby, you have no idea.”

My stomach swims with butterflies at his words. I have no doubt this man is going to rock every aspect of my world.

“Cotton candy,” I squeal, tugging on Kegan’s hand.

All the guys have baseball hats on and sunglasses, trying to keep them hidden. It’s worked so far and I’m so grateful for it. They’ve been having so much uninterrupted fun. They deserve it after all the shows and late nights.

“Guess we’re getting cotton candy,” he says, letting me lead him to the stand.

The guys laugh as they follow behind. I believe any worries they had have diminished now. We’ve been laughing and acting like fools all day.

“Boss lady, grab me one,” Lane yells, holding out money.

I push his hand away as I order two.

  “Take the money,” he says.

“You pay for the next thing,” I say.

Before I can even get my wallet out, Kegan is handing the guy money. I look at him and narrow my eyes. “Like I’m gonna let my girl pay,” he says, pressing a quick kiss to my lips. “Never.”

“You’re sweet, but you don’t need to do that,” I say.

He laughs as he wraps his arm around me. “You have so much to learn.”

“You should see the amount he gives our mom,” Lane whispers.

I turn my head to him, and he smiles. “Really?”

He nods and shoves his hands in his pockets. “Ask him about it.”

My eyes widen as I shake my head. Is he crazy? That’s none of my business at all.

“Ask me what?” Kegan says, handing us our cotton candy.

“Nothing,” I say, pulling a piece off and letting it melt in my mouth.

He looks at Lane, who laughs. “I told her you give mom a lot of money.”

I groan, wanting to hit him with my cotton candy. “It’s none of my business. Drop it.”

We start walking and Kegan wraps his arm around my shoulders. I pull off a piece of cotton candy and hold it out to him. He wraps his lips around my fingers and licks it off. My body reacts immediately and even though I can’t see his eyes, I know they are as heated as mine.

“When Lane and I were kids, we were broke. My mom worked two, sometimes three jobs just to keep us in a shitty apartment and fed.”

“Kegan, stop. You don’t need to explain anything to me,” I say.

“Eat your cotton candy and let me talk.” He grins and continues. “I made a promise that one day I would make enough money to take care of her. Now that I do, I’ve kept good on my word. I don’t want her to have any unnecessary stress, so I pay her bills and give her enough money for her meds, food, and having fun.”

This man has the biggest heart I’ve ever seen. I never would have guessed that at first. H
e keeps it all hidden well. But when you get to know him, you realize that he loves deeply, cares unconditionally, and protects furiously.

“You’re amazing, Kegan. Do you even realize how exceptional you are?”

He laughs and kisses the side of my head. “What do you wanna do next?”

“Ferris wheel,” I say, looking at him.

“Oh, fuck yeah,” Everett says. “I wanna ride with a hot chick.”

“Sorry, but I’m riding with Kegan,” I say, laughing.

They all laugh, and Kegan lifts me from behind walking as he kisses my shoulder before putting me down. “Damn right.”

I laugh looking back at Everett. “You gonna find one?”

He lifts his eyebrow. “You daring me?”

  “Oh Christ.”

  “Here we go.”

  “Fucking hell.”

I look between them all and laugh. “Well after all that, hell yes I’m daring you.”

He cracks his knuckles and stretches his neck.

“Is that for real?” I ask.

“This is serious business, Lorelei. You can’t just go out there without stretching,” he says.

I bust out laughing and the others join in.

“You think he’s joking, but unfortunately he’s not,” Kegan says.

“Yeah, you have no idea what you did by daring him,” Lane groans.

“Hope you don’t wanna ride the Ferris wheel anytime soon,” Remi says.

Everett smiles as he looks around. “Be right back.”

We all move to a bench and sit down. The three of them start talking, but I keep my focus on Everett. I’m curious to see how he’s gonna pull this off. I mean, don’t get me wrong, he’s hot so it might be easier than I’m thinking.

He approaches a woman and I watch as he talks animatedly while she stares at him. He touches her shoulder and who I assume is her boyfriend steps over. He holds up his hands and backs away.

I laugh and glance over to see if the guys noticed. Kegan is smiling at me, while the other two are laughing at Everett.

“You’re too far away,” Kegan says, patting his lap. He doesn’t need to ask me twice. I move to his lap and he breathes me in. “You having fun?”

I look up at him smiling. “The most I’ve had in a long time,” I admit.

He presses his lips to mine and licks the seam, asking for entrance. I don’t hesitate and open up for him. Our tongues touch and we both let out a moan. His hands move down to rest on my ass, and I can feel myself getting turned on. I pull away before I make a fool out of myself and bite my lip.

  “Oh fuck, look,” Lane says.

We all look over to see Everett talking to a girl. She’s definitely pretty and I see no other guys around.

“I don’t understand what the big deal is? Guys pick up girls all the time,” I say, glancing from him to Kegan.

They all laugh, and Kegan squeezes my knee. “Just wait.”

As if on cue, Everett wraps his arm around her and begins thrusting his hips. The guys are hysterical, and I’m stunned. What the fuck is he doing?

Of course, she pushes him away and moves past him. He looks over and shrugs, laughing.

“Am I missing something?” I ask.

“Nope, he thinks doing that dirty dancing move is a sure-fire way to pick up chicks,” Lane says.

I look at all of them with my mouth open. “Haven’t you told him? I mean, he looks like a damn fool.”

“We’ve told him, but he doesn’t listen. It’s more fun watching it this way,” Remi says, laughing.

“You guys are awful,” I say, shaking my head.

Kegan laughs as Everett starts walking toward us. “It’s all in good fun, baby.”

They tease him as we walk to the Ferris wheel. When we get in line, Kegan wraps his arms around my waist and smiles down at me. I wrap my arms around his neck and wish I could see his eyes.

  “Kegan Donovan?”

“Fuck,” he whispers, looking back at the guys.

“Holy shit, is that all of Loyalty?”

“Let’s go,” I whisper, pulling away from him.

Lane drapes his arm around my shoulders and smiles. “We don’t run away, boss lady. We play along.”

My brows dip, unsure what the hell he’s talking about. And it suddenly becomes clear. All four of them start looking around, as if they, too, are looking for Loyalty. I roll my eyes at their childish way, but the group of girls moves on, so I guess it did what it was intended.

The line moves and I sigh. “You guys know that won’t always work. You’re lucky those girls were too distracted by other things to keep pursuing you. If you guys want to be out in public and not be seen, we’re going to need to figure something else out.”

Kegan wraps an arm around my front and pulls me back to him. My back is flush against his front as he places a small kiss below my ear. “Relax baby. This isn’t new to us. We are lucky we haven’t been noticed yet, it doesn’t normally last this long. If they realize it’s us, we smile, take pictures, and sign autographs. No big deal.”

I look back briefly, before focusing on the Ferris wheel. “I’m sorry. I’m being selfish,” I whisper.

He moves his hand down just enough so his hand is almost on my breast. His pinky moves slowly across my nipple and they harden instantly.

  “Selfish how?” he whispers.

“If you get recognized, our time is up.”

His hand squeezes my breast and I push my ass against him. He’s working me up in this large crowd and no one's the wiser. That just turns me on even more.

“Our time will never fucking be up.”

I keep that thought in my head as we ride the Ferris wheel, play games, and walk around laughing. Kegan has kept me turned on the entire time. Small intimate touches, stolen kisses, and whispers of what’s to come later.

We are waiting around, looking out at the ocean when someone calls out Kegan’s name. It’s not loud, no one else notices, but my heart stops anyway. Our time is up.

“Hey man, good to see you again,” Kegan says, pulling away from me.

I look up and realize it’s Catherine and her fiancé Jackson. I smile immediately relieved that it’s them. I walk over and Catherine’s smile is huge. I can’t help but giggle as I approach. I know what she’s thinking.

“How’s it going, Lorelei?” she says, laughing.

I laugh along with her, lifting my shoulders. “After talking with you, I finally gave in to everything I was feeling.”

“This is so much better than a phone call,” she says, smiling.

“Be right back, angel,” Kegan says, walking away with Jackson.

My brows did as I look from them to Catherine. “What’s that about?”

“No idea,” she says, looking just as confused.

I realize I may never get another opportunity like this again, so I turn my attention away from the guys. I smile at Catherine and nod for her to follow me back to where I was standing to look at the ocean.

“I know that we don’t really know each other and calling you the other day was so completely out of character for me, but I want to thank you,” I say.

“You don’t need to thank me,” she says.

I shake my head and look out at the ocean. It looks endless and it’s every bit as beautiful as it is terrifying. That’s how I feel about what is happening with Kegan. It’s beautiful and terrifying.

I turn my head to Catherine and grin. “I do need to thank you. I needed a voice of reason and my friends were absolutely no help. You on the other hand became the voice I needed. I won’t lie and pretend I never heard of you. We’re both publicists and women. But I didn’t know it was you backstage until you gave me your card. Anyway, I think hearing from you, a woman publicist, that it was alright to give in was what I needed. It’s new and scary, but I don’t think I would’ve taken the leap without your encouragement. So, I do owe you a thank you for that and for listening to a girl you don’t even know talk about her fears
and anxieties.”

“It’s hard enough being a publicist but falling for one of our clients makes everything a hundred times harder. I’ve been there and when I saw you backstage, I knew you were going through the same things I did. I’ll admit I didn’t have to deal with a Rockstar, but Jackson is a Rockstar in his own right. Do you believe in fate, Lorelei?” she asks.

“I think so, yeah,” I reply.

She nods, smiling. “I think fate brough us the guys we are meant to be with and maybe brought us together so we could be friends.”

“I like that. Maybe we could all get together for dinner one night before we head out?” I suggest.

“I’d really like that,” she says.

Kegan, Jackson, and the rest of the guys walk over.

“Two chicks, I’m down,” Remi says, tossing his arms around me and Catherine. Kegan and Jackson step forward and he jumps back, holding his hands up. “Fuck, I’m kidding.”

We all laugh as Kegan pulls me to him, kissing my head. “What was that about?” I ask, looking between him and Jackson.

“I wanted to secure tickets for the next tour,” Jackson says.

It’s a strange request this far out from their next tour, but I’m not about to question him. Kegan tightens his arm around me, and I feel him nod.

“It was great seeing you all again. Good luck with the rest of the tour,” Jackson says, reaching for Catherine’s hand.

“I’ll give you a call to set up something,” Catherine says, waving as the walk away.

Kegan glances down at me and I smile. “I told her we should make plans for dinner before we leave.”

He chuckles, looking at the guys. “That’s perfect.” My eyebrows dip and he presses a soft kiss to my lips. “Jackson asked us to record a song for Catherine for her birthday. That’s what we were talking about, not the next tour. Now that you set up these plans, it will be the perfect time to give it to her.”

That has to be the most romantic thing I’ve ever heard in my life. She is lucky to have a guy so sweet.

Remi, Everett, and Lane are walking ahead of us, checking out all the women walking past. Kegan is holding my hand and texting with the other. He shoves his phone away and looks around, before cutting through the crowds to a door by some of the stands that says, ‘employees only’.
