by Everly Frost

“Well, if I’m going to kick your backside, you’d better choose a new name because I will not call you by your old one when I declare my victory.”

A smile ghosts around his mouth. He shakes his head. “Alessia—”

“Pick a name or I’ll pick one for you.”

  Still he hesitates.

  “Trueheart,” I say.

He screws up his face in disgust.

I arch an eyebrow at him as I edge forward, approaching on his right side. “What then? Appleblossom? Sugarspice?”

He laughs, a great gusty sound.

I inch up closer, inhaling his tantalizing scent as I check his reaction to each suggestion. “Ash… Coal… Blaze…” He’s allowed me to get close enough that my breath whispers across his shoulder, then his collarbone. His body heat is intoxicating and I’m not afraid to lose myself to it. “Inferno.”

His right arm whips around me, pulling me so close so fast that the air whooshes out of my lungs. I arch back across his arm, my left leg rising to hook around his hip. He growls at me, an intense sound only a male gargoyle can make, his head tilting to mine as I slide my leg back down his. My mouth is a scant breath away from his. With the lightest brush of my lips across his—a touch that nearly turns me senseless—I hook my ankle around his leg… and pull.

He yelps, flails, loses his balance, and tips back off the cliff. His wings thump out, but not in time before I dive after him, sailing through the air, harnessing the wind around me to crash into his chest. His eyes widen, his wings beat, but it’s futile. I drive him toward the jagged cliffs below. “Fight or yield!”

He grins at me as he snaps his wings closed at his sides, freefalling. “Neither.”

He wraps his arms around me, his muscles flexing as he slides his hand across the back of my head, drawing me down to him. Gravity pushes me in the other direction, but he fights it, whispering against my lips, “This is also a good way to die.”

His kiss is like catching fire, his mouth molding to mine, his lips coaxing mine apart. My heart thuds, erratic in my chest. The air rushes past us as his hands run the length of my spine and across the backs of my thighs, drawing my legs around his hips. We tip upright and I don’t know how we changed direction until I hear his wings thump.

“Hold on,” he says before he claims my lips again. His wings sweep and he propels us up into the air, infuriating me with his ability to break through my power. My indignation evaporates as he carries us high above the peaks. The border between Erador and Erawind stretches out beneath us, once a line between two races, now united.

I fold my hands across the back of his neck and hold on tightly with my legs. I can harness my power so I don’t fall, but I’ve never trusted anyone to carry me in the air. I settle against the strong arm he holds against my hips, leaning back into the one that supports my shoulders.

I catch my breath, satisfied that his chest is rising and falling, his heart is thudding, and his fingertips seek the bare patches of skin my armor reveals.

“What are you going to do with me, Alessia?” he asks, giving me a perplexed smile before he nuzzles my cheek with his. “I don’t belong in a palace.”

I draw back in surprise. He must think it’s all plush lounges and royal bedrooms. He doesn’t know that half of the palace is a training compound, where my warrior father and brother spend their days training new soldiers so that we are ready if our world is ever threatened again. Anyone who dares harm our land or our people will meet an army more ferocious than any before it.

A worried crease appears in his forehead, and my heart aches that he trusts me to be so vulnerable with me. “I don’t belong in a time of peace,” he says. “I’m built for war.”

  “So am I,” I say.

He considers me with surprise, his dark eyes questioning.

I shrug, lightning burning inside me, lightning that is part of my soul. “I am a Rath.”

His gaze intensifies before he whispers. “I am… Grievous Inferno.”

He kisses me as we spiral slowly in the air, his hand a burning brand against my thigh, a promise of more.

I gasp against his mouth. “Please tell me you make your bed in the sky.”

“I will make my bed wherever you are.”

I sigh. My soul is light, my arms are full, and my heart is certain. “The sky is perfect.”

Acknowledgements from Everly: I am so grateful to have shared the journey of writing these books with such an amazing author and wonderful friend, Jaymin. Writing this series with Jaymin has been the best experience, a dream actually. Somehow she always tugs the emotions out of me, inspiring me to take chances, to push myself to be and write more. We are so incredibly proud of this series and the world we created. Baelen and Marbella will always have a special place in my heart. I also want to thank my husband with all my heart. Without him picking up the slack in other parts of our lives, I never would have kept up with everything; he is my rock, my foundation. To our readers always, thank you! This book is for you. xx

Acknowledgements from Jaymin: I’m so grateful to have met Everly. She was my friend long before I was an author, and I’m sure that we will be friends for the rest of our days. Writing this series with her was a dream come true, she pushes me to be a better writer. Because she is one of the best writers I’ve ever read. EVER. She has a gift that cannot be learned, and I am so grateful that she chose to share it with me. And the world. Thank you to all of our readers who have taken this journey with us.   A new dark academy romance by Everly Frost

  Assassin’s Academy: Book One: Rebels

I don't belong at Bloodwing Academy. Sure, I'm Unknown – one of the magically repressed. I should have magical powers, but I don't. Not yet. One day I'll wake up and my powers will be out of my control. I'll be a threat to everyone around me. But that doesn't mean they should lock me up.

Especially with an Unknown like Striker Draven. As heir to the Draven fortune, he thinks he can have whatever he wants. He wants to pull me apart, rip out my power, and take my heart with it.

That's if I don't rip his out first.

My name is Peyton Price. My freedom is going to come at a cost. Body and mind, I have to decide if I'm willing to pay it.

This is a full length 90,000 word, dark academy romance, the first in the Assassin’s Academy series.

Recommended reading age 17+ due to language and sex scenes.

  Supernatural Academy

A new academy romance by Jaymin Eve

  Supernatural Academy: Year One

Maddison James is about to discover some truths about the world.

  Firstly … supernaturals exist.

  WTF?

Secondly … she is one, even though no one seems to know exactly what kind.

  Double WTF.

Thirdly … she’s about to go back to school.

Well, things just got a little more interesting.

The Supernatural Academy is where shifters, vampires, magic users, and fey are educated. Where they are taught about their abilities, and how to function in the human world. Maddison already has the human part down, but this supernatural thing is an entirely new dangerous game.

Example one: mean girls who can actually turn you into a frog.

Example two: Asher Locke, a god at the Academy. Not literally … well, who knows for sure. He certainly acts the part, as do all of his minions who worship him.

Asher drives her crazy, because apparently gorgeous and arrogant is her thing. Sparks fly between them, and the more they’re thrown together, the more Asher is determined to figure out what’s been blocking her abilities.

Until the moment the truth is revealed, and they find out nothing in this supernatural world is what they thought.

  Including each other.
