Fairy tales do come true.
Chapter 4
Someone had set up a funfair in her body. That was the only explanation for the marching band in her head and swirling and churning in her tummy. As she burrowed down lower into the comfort of the quilt, Skye decided she was never drinking again, and especially not with Lucy and Roz.
Those two were like fish, each cocktail going down as if it was water and while she had gotten drunker, they hadn’t seemed affected in the slightest. Maybe it was some badass assassin thing.
A smile tilted her lips when she heard noises from downstairs, they were muted, but she knew it was Noah and Nate. She had felt the kiss on her shoulder as he’d gotten out of bed earlier to sort out Noah’s breakfast.
Her body shivered as she remembered last night and how she had climbed all over Nate, who hadn’t seemed too drunk. The delicious things he had done to her body made her squirm and rub her legs together in memory. He had kissed every part of her in a frenzy of need that’d had her seeing stars.
He’d had to put his mouth on hers to stop the scream that erupted when he’d made her come for the third time. Thank God he had, or she would not be able to face her own son this morning as she would have had some serious explaining to do.
The sound came closer and as much as she loved her boys, she wanted to go back to sleep until this feeling of wanting to die from a hangover let up a bit. The door opened, and the smell of Nate’s aftershave and shower gel hit her nose. That and coffee, which made her tummy roll. She groaned as he sat on the bed beside her and gently pulled the cover away from her face.
“Are you alive, mi cielo?”
“No, I died. Now go away and leave me to sleep,” she said grumpily even though she knew it was her own fault. Actually, it was Lacey and Lucy’s fault. They’d kept plying her with drinks. She was seriously re-thinking their roles as her bridesmaids. The deep soft chuckle of her husband-to-be had her opening an eye.
His hair was wet from the shower which she couldn’t remember hearing him take and he was dressed in jeans and a deep green Under Armour top that hugged every muscular curve of his body. He looked good enough to eat—again.
“I brought you some water and some paracetamol for your head. When you’ve showered and dressed, I’ll make you some breakfast,” he said as he rubbed a spot on her shoulder, with his thumb. He looked so fresh and alive, and she knew he had drunk quite a bit last night.
“Why are you all spritely and I want to die?” she asked him with a pout.
“Because, my love, I’m a hard-ass and you’re a lightweight.”
“I hate you right now,” she said as she tried to make her aching head and face make a glare.
“You didn’t hate me last night,” he said with a grin, “in fact you said…”
Her hand snapped out, and she covered his mouth to stop the words. Saying them in the heat of the moment was one thing but repeating them in the cold hard light of day when she probably looked like a scarecrow was another thing entirely.
“Don’t you dare say it,” she warned as he pulled away and kissed the inside of her wrist, making her shiver.
“Fine, but you do need to get your ass out of bed. We have to meet your parents in two hours.”
Skye buried her head in her hands at his words. Her parents were a nightmare at the best of times but facing them like this was going to be torture.
Nate leaned in and wrapped an arm around her as he kissed her head.
“It’ll be fine, stop worrying.”
She peeked through her fingers. “You have no idea what a snob my father is, and my mum is the little wife that never opposes him.”
“I don’t care about them, I’m marrying you and Noah. That’s all I give a shit about.”
“Talking of Noah, where is he?” she asked as she took the water and painkillers and swallowed them down.
“My parents took him back to the Estate, so Noah could help her and Lizzie make those favour things.”
Her head fell sideways onto his broad shoulder, and she sighed. “I love your mum so much.”
“She loves you too. I think if you ever left me, she would want to keep you and ditch me,” he said then kissed her shoulder.
“Hardly, you’re her baby boy, but it doesn’t matter because after tomorrow you can’t get rid of me. Ever,” she said as the realisation that tomorrow was their wedding day.
“Good, because I wouldn’t let you leave me. I’d stalk you like a deranged man until you felt sorry for me and took me back.”
She smiled, but a touch of seriousness hit her as the momentous day approached. “Can you believe it’s really happening? Eighteen months ago, my life was lonely, and the future was terrifying, and now it feels so good that I want to pinch myself every day to see if its real,” she said as she looked up at him.
“I can believe it, but if you had asked me two years ago if I’d ever find this kind of happiness or feel this kind of love for someone, I would have said no. I can’t even put into words how much I love you, how you’re my whole world,” he said as he brushed her hair from her face and kissed her eyelids.
“I think you just did, and it’s exactly how I feel.”
“I just wish I could give you the baby you want and deserve,” he said softly, guilt edging his voice.
“All I need is you and Noah. If that’s all I have, I’ll consider myself blessed beyond my wildest dreams. To carry our child would be amazing and a privilege but if it never happens then we’ll find a way to have more kids.”
“Fuck, I love you,” he growled as he nuzzled her neck and took her water out of her hand, placing it on the bedside table. “You want some help in the shower?” he asked as he kissed his way down her very naked body and sucked a nipple into his mouth. Her head fell back as pulses of desire stirred her body awake.
“I thought you’d never ask.” She murmured as he let the nipple pop from his lips as he smiled wickedly at her.
Lifting her, he carried her to the en-suite bathroom and set her down as he turned on the water in the shower until it was steaming hot. Skye watched as he shed his boots and clothes and shivered at the sight of him. His body was so muscled and sculpted to perfection that it made her want to weep with joy at the sight. The new tattoo on his upper pectoral over his heart with her and Noah’s names in it always made her want to cry.
When he had come home six months ago, and she’d seen it, she’d cried her eyes out that he would permanently ink her name onto his body but more than that, her son’s name. A child that was not his by blood but was, in every other way, Nate’s son. She’d had a smaller version done on her hip, and he’d loved it even while he had tried not to hit the poor tattooist as he touched her ass.
The memory made her smile, and he quirked a brow as he moved towards her, his thick, hard cock straining towards his belly button. She licked her lips as she devoured him with her eyes.
“What’s on your mind?” he asked as he got to her and wrapped her in his arms.
“You. Always you,” she sighed.
“Good answer,” he said as he bent to kiss her.
“No. Let me do my teeth first,” she said as she spun and took in her scarecrow hair, smudged mascara, and pale complexion. Nate growled at her words, always insisting he didn’t care about that, but she did.
“Hurry up, or I’ll start without you,” he said as he took his cock in his fist and slowly pumped it.
Her thighs clenched at the sight, and she grabbed her brush and smeared it with toothpaste before brushing them with lightening-speed. When she was finished, she rinsed and turned to see Nate’s delectable ass disappear into the shower.
Stepping in after him she closed the door and watched with rapt attention as he dropped to his knees. He looked up at her with heat in his dark eyes that made her legs weak.
“Time for breakfast,” he said as he buried his head in her pussy and she had to grab the tile walls of the shower to hold her up. He licked a line straight up her lip
s before thrusting his masterful tongue inside her and fucking her with his tongue. He lifted her leg and hooked it over his shoulder as he sucked her clit into his mouth and bit and nipped at the bundle of nerves until she could barely stand.
His hands held her ass, as he ate her pussy like a starved man and she moaned his name as her climax began to build. She felt his hand caress her ass cheek, as he slid his fingers closer to the puckered hole of her anus. It felt wrong and naughty, and she shivered as he pushed a finger inside her ass while he sucked her clit into his mouth and bit down.
It was all it took to make her come so hard that her legs buckled, and she saw stars. Nate held her as he rocked her through her orgasm and she panted as water rained down on them. He pulled his finger from her ass, and it caused a tiny aftershock of desire to ignite.
Standing slowly, he kissed her flat tummy, before dropping a kiss on each puckered nipple before he reached her mouth.
“One,” he said against her lips.
She grinned at his words. “Don’t wear me out too much we need to keep something for the wedding night.”
He quirked an eyebrow her. “True. Just three today then,” he whispered as he took her mouth in a kiss that was both savage and sweet. His tongue licked along her hers, tasting her, drinking her in as his lips dominated her with their soft, firm strokes. He soon had her panting for more as his hands trailed over her body igniting a burn under the skin that only he could satisfy.
His hard body under her hands bunched and rippled as it moved, her nails raked along his back then over the firm globes of his ass. He pushed his cock into her belly on a groan and taking her leg, he lifted her and rested her back against the shower wall as he thrust his cock into her in one long, hard thrust.
Skye threw her head back, her body arching as he pounded into her, plucking at her nipple as pleasure rose higher and higher until her body was stung so tight, she thought she would explode into a million pieces.
“Nate!” She cried his name as he moved to switch his angle, so his pelvis rocked against her clit, sending the bud into a frenzy of sensations until she felt her climax flow through her like a wave. Not as wild as the first but no less amazing for it. Nate turned and sat on the bench seat as she settled, so her pussy was hugging his cock.
Her legs either side of his she looked into his face, the hard edge of desire making him seem feral and wild. She loved it when he lost control, and he was holding on by a thread right now. Lifting, she began to ride her man. Her muscles were clenching her inner walls stroking his cock as he gripped her hips in his hands.
She knew she would wear his mark when they got married and the thought excited her. Running her fingernails down his chest, she licked and sucked his neck before sensations began to build, and her head fell back as she rode him.
“Take it, Skye, fuck yourself on my cock,” he growled as he cupped her breast in his hand and sucked the nipple, before nipping with enough bite that pain scored down her body directly to her clit.
Her climax when it hit this time, was so wild that she screamed his name over and over as she felt him pulse as he spilt his seed inside her. Her movements stilled as her racing heart slowed. Nate kissed her shoulder up to her neck so tenderly that she whimpered.
“Well, that’s a hangover cure I won’t be sharing with the girls.” She said and felt him chuckle under her body.
They showered quickly, and Nate went downstairs to get her some juice and toast while she tried to hide her pale complexion from her mother. As she pulled on thick black tights and a short wool dress with long sleeves and peter pan collar in mustard she thought about her parents.
It was difficult not to worry when she knew they would do or say something to be snobbish dicks. But then, she’d had years of practice putting up with their behaviour. If anyone could deal with them it was her friends, in fact, maybe she should be more worried about her unsuspecting parents. A giggle erupted at the thought of her haughty mother trying to talk down to Ava or Roz.
“What has you giggling?” Nate asked as he walked in the bedroom as she was pulling on suede, heeled ankle boots.
“The thought of my parents trying their snooty manner on our friends.”
He sat down next to her, his face serious. “Don’t worry about any of it. If they’re dicks that’s on them. It won’t affect how anyone sees you. The only people it shows up is them,” he said getting right to the heart of her worry.
She had always worried that she would be judged by their actions, and in school and growing up she had been. People had tarnished her with the same brush as her parents. It was one of the reasons for her estrangement from them.
The other being they didn’t approve of was her having a child outside of wedlock. The fact they hadn’t bothered with Noah hurt but the child inside her still wanted their approval and love. “I know, and it kills me that I still feel the need for their approval. I should know better by now.”
“We all want our parents to approve of the things we do. What we forget is that even parents are people and can be dicks. They gave you life, and for that, you’ll always be grateful but what you have to remember is that you were the gift to them not the other way around. You would never treat Noah that way because you see the gift he is. They just don’t, but it’s not your failing, it’s theirs.”
“You always know just what to say to me.” She smiled as she stood, and he grabbed her around the waist and buried his head in her belly as she stroked his silky hair.
“Of course, I do. I’m awesome.” He replied with a smile, and she grinned.
“And modest,” she returned with a grin.
Nate stood and tapped her ass as they walked downstairs for her to grab her bag and coat.
“Let’s do this!” she said with a deep breath.
Chapter 5
Nate ground his teeth as he paid the cheque at the restaurant where they had met Skye’s mum and dad. It had only been an hour and a half, and he wanted to shoot them both. Skye was a nervous wreck and watching her parents make sly digs at her was getting old very fast.
He bit his tongue trying to keep the peace as Margaret, Skye’s mother, made another reference to Skye’s weight, but when he saw his beautiful fiancée’s face fall at her words, he was done. “Skye is perfect,” he bit out angrily. “She has the figure of a woman, a perfectly healthy woman. Why a man would want to be with an unhealthy skeletal woman is beyond me,” he said as he raked her mother with a hard stare. He saw her purse her lips in anger as she took the insult that was barely veiled.
Skye squeezed his hand and offered him a broad smile, her face saying more than a hundred words ever could.
“I’m sure my wife is just concerned for our daughter’s health,” her prick of a father said.
He was lucky still to have all his teeth. The man was pious and controlling, and he believed that money made him better than everyone else. Nate hated him with a passion and had no clue how Skye had managed to become the loving, kind, generous woman she was, having been raised by those two vultures.
“My Fiancée is a perfect size ten with a resting pulse of fifty-eight. Her health is perfect, and I would have thought the time to be concerned about her was when her son was seriously ill, and she had no support. Now, if that’s settled, I won’t hear another word about it,” he said with a finality that dared them to do differently.
With his hand on Skye’s back he ushered her to their car. Only the manners instilled in him by his parents made him hold the door for them. He helped Skye in and opened the door for William and Margaret and tried not to slam it too hard as he closed it.
The short drive to the Estate was made in awkward silence, and he could feel Skye’s nerves. Reaching out, he took her hand and dropped a kiss on her fingers, showing his support.
As they drove down the long drive to the Cunningham estate, he felt William sit forward and caught the look of excitement in the rear-view mirror.
“Is this Andrew Cunningham’s estate?” he a
sked.
“Not anymore. His son Zack owns it now,” Skye replied.
The car rolled to a stop at the front of the massive grand circular driveway. Nate saw William and Margaret looking at the estate with glee in their greedy, snobbish eyes. They would have a rude awakening if they thought for one second Zack would put up with their bullshit.
The door opened, and the man himself walked down the steps with Ava beside him. The air was cold, so Nate took Skye’s hand and walked towards Zack, wanting to get her out of the cold.
Zack kissed Skye’s cheek and shook his hand as Ava greeted them in the same manner, acting as if they hadn’t all got drunk together last night—well except for Ava. He turned to make the introductions, but William and Margaret looked expectantly at Skye, so he let her take the lead.
“Zack, Ava, these are my parents William and Margaret. Mum, Dad this is Zack and Ava Cunningham.”
Zack stuck out his hand, and William shook it enthusiastically while Ava smiled at Margaret and nodded her head like she was royalty.
“It’s nice to meet the parents of such a wonderful woman,” Ava said laying it on thick and Nate’s lips twitched at the look on his future in-law’s faces.
“The pleasure is ours,” William said.
Zack stepped back and ushered everyone inside towards the library. The estate was quiet, but he knew his parents were there with Reg as Zack had already texted him earlier to let him know.
Walking behind Billy and Mags as he had decided to call them knowing it would drive them crazy, he bent to Skye. “You good?”
“Yes, I will be. Just nervous I guess.”
“Don’t be, we got this,” he said as he wrapped a supportive arm around her waist.
Skye hadn’t wanted Noah involved in this meeting knowing it could go horribly wrong and didn’t want to subject him to it. Nate hadn’t agreed but had ceded her wishes. He’d thought Noah should know who and what kind of people his grandparents were, but he knew Skye was trying to protect the boy.
