Turning Up the Heat (Friends With Benefits) Page 17

by Tanya Michaels

Placing her hands on his shoulders, she lightly shoved, urging him into the wide leather chair behind them. Then she straddled his lap, her skirt riding up as she bent forward to kiss him again.

He nipped at her lower lip with his teeth. “God, I’ve missed you.” He was already growing hard beneath her, and she sighed at how good he felt. Desire simmered through her, even more potent than before because of the emotions magnifying it.

“I missed you, too.” She brushed kisses along his neck, toward his ear. “Let’s avoid that by sticking together from now on. I know you may still be upset that I pushed you away, but I have some ideas on earning your forgiveness.” She rolled her hips, moving against him.

He groaned. “How could I say no? I’ve fallen in love with you, Phoebe Mars.”

His declaration incited her more than any touch could, and she lifted herself off his lap just enough to fumble with the button at the front of his pants. He palmed her breast through her T-shirt while kissing the hollow of her throat, and the tremble that went through her didn’t help her dexterity. Coming to her aid, he unzipped the pants while she stood to shimmy free of her underwear and get a condom from the purse that had hit the floor. She unrolled it over his rock-hard erection, gently squeezing the shaft and reveling in the way his eyes darkened with desire. The lean planes of his face were taut with tormented pleasure, his expression one of raw masculine beauty.

Anticipation thrummed through her, mingled with the emotions she felt for him, this man who saw and accepted her as she was while also helping her discover new facets of herself.

“I love you,” she murmured, lowering herself onto his cock and taking him deep.

She tightened around him and they moved together, their pace as urgent as their need for each other. The chair beneath them creaked loudly in protest. The two of them were probably the only ones left in the building, but if not, Phoebe couldn’t bring herself to be bothered by the idea that people knew she and Heath were making love. She felt gloriously unashamed.

Her climax began to spiral through her, and Heath muffled her involuntary shout with a kiss, then followed her over the edge. Her head fell forward, resting on his shoulder, and they sat there in almost dazed silence, their only sounds ragged breathing.

“Let’s never move from this spot,” she said, mellow and lethargic with satisfaction.

He chuckled. “That’s going to make the meeting I have scheduled in the morning a little awkward.” He caught her chin between his fingers, tilting her face to his for a kiss so tender that she found herself blinking teardrops off her lashes.

“You really forgive me for what I said on the plane?” she asked.

“I do, as long as you forgive me. I should have fought harder for us—like you did tonight.” He grinned. “I don’t know if I’m scared of the fights we’ll have in the future because I already know you’ll win, or if I’m eager because I look forward to how we’ll work out those disagreements. Your powers of seductive persuasion are undeniable.”

“Well—” she winked at him “—I learned from the best.”
