Another contraction hits and Colt helps me through it. Blood pulls into the hospital parking lot as the contraction ends. My dad runs inside to get a nurse while Colt helps get me out of the vehicle. I feel so gross because I didn’t get to change or anything before leaving the clubhouse.
A nurse with a wheelchair rushes out with my father trailing behind her. Colt and Blood help me sit in the chair and then we’re off to the maternity ward.
“Your doctor will be here shortly,” the nurse informs us once I’ve changed into a gown and been hooked to the monitors.
“Will she be here in time?” I ask, worried that I’ll be delivering before she gets here.
“Yes. You’re at nine centimeters now. Doctor Bozeman will be here in less than ten minutes,” she responds. “I believe she was almost here when she was called and just has to get changed into scrubs before she comes in to see you. In the meantime, we’ll get everything ready.”
Colt is at my head, holding my hand while several nurses buzz around the room. They’re making sure the bassinet for the baby is ready, all the machines that could be needed are in the room, and the end of my bed is already dropped so I’m ready when it’s time and Doctor Bozeman gets in here.
Another contraction hits and I scream out. The feeling to push is overwhelming, but I don’t do it. I breathe through the contraction and wait for it to fade away.
There’s a knock on the door and Tonya sticks her head in the door. She’s not sure if I want her in here, but I do. If Colt can’t keep me calm, Tonya will. My mom can’t be here, so I want to share it with her. This is her grandbaby and Colt’s mom is my mother-in-law.
“Stay,” I grit out as another contraction immediately begins.
She rushes to my side and grabs onto my hand. Colt is letting me know where the contraction is as Doctor Bozeman walks in the room. She stops at the end of my bed and waits for the pain to end. The contractions now feel as if they’re ripping me in half and I just want this part over with.
“I’m going to check you and see what’s going on,” Doctor Bozeman says.
“Okay. I feel like I have to push,” I say to her.
The doctor checks me and lets us know it’s time for me to push. I shift positions in the bed and get ready to push. The nurse shows Colt how to hold my leg up for me while Tonya takes my other leg. When the next contraction hits, I push with everything I have in me.
I’m exhausted by the time our son finally makes his entrance into the world. It took five pushes before we heard his first cry announcing his arrival. Tonya and I cried when he was laid on my chest and we got our first look at him. Colt had tears in his eyes as he leaned down to kiss my head before kissing our son on his head.
Colt follows our son as the nurse takes him to weigh him, measure him, and give him the tests they do for every baby when they’re born. He’s already the protective daddy and following the nurses everywhere they take him, including when they go to the nursery to bathe him and wrap him in a blanket.
“I’m so proud of you,” Tonya tells me as I lay back against the bed and close my eyes with a smile on my face.
“Thank you for being in here,” I tell her.
“Wouldn’t be anywhere else in the world. I’m gonna go let the guys know he’s here while you rest. When he’s done in the nursery, we’ll give you a chance to nurse him before coming in. But I’m not gonna wait long because I want to know my new grandbaby’s name,” she says, giving me a kiss on the cheek.
I fall asleep while Colt is with our son. He wakes me up when the nurse is done checking over the baby and has him cleaned up and wrapped up tight in a blanket. Colt hands him over to me so I can feed him as he starts to fuss.
As I feed him, I unwrap the blanket and look at his fingers and toes. I have to make sure he has everything in place. It’s the same thing I did with Zoey when she was born. The biggest difference is today I have the love and support of my family; with Zoey I was completely alone and scared to death.
“I’m so proud of you, angel. You proved again today how strong you are. Thank you for our son,” Colt says, leaning down and kissing me once again. “I love you.”
“I love you, too,” I reply as our son lets us know he’s done eating.
Placing him against my chest, I burp him before Colt changes his diaper. He’s just putting the blanket back around him when the door opens, and Tonya is back. Nodding my head, she walks in followed by every man in the club, my dad, Needa, Sydney, and Heaven. Our room is filled to capacity and I smile at everyone.
Blood sets Zoey on the bed so she can see her baby brother. She looks over at him and runs a finger down his little cheek before leaning on me to kiss him. Phone cameras are taking pictures to capture this beautiful moment in time.
“Family, I’d like to introduce you to the newest member of the family. Please welcome Maddox Axel Johns. We couldn’t think of a better name for him than to name him after his grandfathers,” Colt says, taking his son over so our dads and Logan can see him before everyone else does.
Tonya takes a picture and I know I’m going to blow it up and print it to hang at the house. It’s the perfect moment as three generations are together in one picture. Blood and my dad stand on either side of Colt staring down at Maddox while Logan peers over Colt’s shoulder at him. Colt’s eyes are on me with a proud, bright smile on his face. He’s never looked better to me.
This is my family. We’re dysfunctional, loud, emotional, strong, and everything in between. I’ve gone from having no one in my corner to having so many men and women standing at my side. I can’t thank whoever led me here enough for giving me the entire world in one room. A room full of love, strength, and happiness. Now, I’m truly living and not just existing.
The End. . . . . For now!

About the Author
Growing up, I was constantly reading anything I could get my hands on. Even if that meant I was reading my grandma’s books that weren’t so age appropriate. I started out reading Judy Blume, then graduated to romance, mainly historical romance, and last year I found an amazing group of Indie authors that wrote MC books. Instantly I fell in love with these books.
For a long time, I’ve wanted to write. I just never had the courage to go through with actually doing it. During a book release party, I mentioned that I wanted to write and I received encouragement from an amazing author. So, I took a leap and wrote my first book. Even though this amazing journey is just starting for me, I wouldn’t have even started if it weren’t for a wonderful group of authors and others that I’ve met along the way.
I am a mother of three children. Only one girl in the bunch! My family and friends mean the world to me and I’d be lost without them. Including new friends that I’ve met along the way. I’ve lived in New York my whole life, either in Upstate or the Southern Tier. I love it during the summer, spring, and fall. But, not so much during the winter. I hate driving in snow with a passion!
When I’m not hanging out with my family/friends, reading, or writing, you can find me listening to music. I love almost all music! Or, I’m watching a NASCAR race.
I look forward to meeting new friends, even if I’m extremely shy!
