Beholden to You Page 22

by Sexton, Carlie

Kate and Neil were doing well considering everything Roger had put them through. She continued school, and in her free time, worked with Neil’s mom helping the children’s charity.

We were all busily preparing for Charlie and Mitch’s wedding.

All was well in everyone’s lives, so much so, that I had to suppress the feeling that something would go wrong. Obviously, old habits die hard.

“Mrs. Carter,” Mac said, turning my body toward him. “Have I told you today just how much I love you?”

I looked into the eyes of the man who meant everything to me. “Yes, Mr. Carter, but I never grow tired of hearing it.” I knew being beholden to Mac was something I would forever be thankful for, and I looked forward to our life together. I was no longer alone.
