  > Description: This skill allows you to wear a special visor, which is basically a mobile tracking device to trail an enemy player’s footprints in real time. The visor uses advanced computer technology to detect details of the player you’re stalking. While this device won’t let you know the nickname of a masked heister, you can learn the class he or she plays as.

  > Additional Information: To activate the visor, you only need to flip it down. With the visor active, you can see your enemies’ footprints. The footprints are color-coded depending on their recency. Trackable footprints start off red at 0 seconds, become yellow at 20, light green at 45, light blue at 65, and disappear at 90.

  > Additional Information: You need to scan the footprints by fixing your gaze on them to start tracking their owner. Scanning takes several seconds and you only can scan footprints in your immediate vicinity. Also, you have to concentrate on a single set of footprints. If you look to another set of footprints, even if they belong to the same player, the scan will start over. When the scan completes, the footprints’ host will be tracked, immediately creating a 3D ping at their location. The tracking lasts for several seconds and the position of the 3D ping is refreshed every 5 seconds during the tracking.

  > Description: Your footsteps produce 25% less noise.

  > Name: Modification for the twin-wheeled drone: Poison darts 1

  > Description: With this skill learned, your drone gets upgraded. It can shoot poison darts. When a dart hits a player, he or she gets a debuff that reduces his or her movement speed for a short while.

  > The level 1 poison dart’s stats:

  > Ammo: 10

  > Duration of the debuff: 30 seconds

  > The movement speed of a victim gets reduced by: 25%

  The Visor skill probably was very useful, but it seemed too complicated to me, so I decided to omit it. The Sensor skill was much easier to use. Probably I should learn it later on. The same held true for the Poison darts skill. As to the Sneaky skill, it seemed like a useless skill to me.

  Then I leveled up to 4. The fourth branch of the skill tree was unlocked, so I studied it.

  > Level 4 Branch

  > Name: Drone 2

  > Description: A drone is a small twin-wheeled robot controlled by you. Once deployed, the drone can be directed to move through a structure and transmit real-time video and audio to your cell phone. These reconnaissance features can locate and identify subjects, confirm the presence of hostages, and reveal a room layout. The drone is capable of entering buildings either through open doorways or small vents scattered around each building. The drone also has the ability to jump via a spring, which reloads after a few seconds. The drone’s ability to jump also allows it to dodge incoming fire by heisters and/or escape quickly. When not in use, the drone remains where it was last left. You can pick it up and redeploy it.

  > The drone’s stats:

  > Amor: 75 (basic 50 points + additional 25 points)

  > Jump reload: 6 seconds (basic 3 seconds + additional 3 seconds)

  > Jump height: 2 feet (basic 1 foot + additional 1 foot)

  > Movement speed: 1.25 m/sec (basic 1m/sec + additional 0.25 m/s)

  > Cost: 1 skill point

  > Note: You cannot learn Drone 2 if you do not have Drone 1 unlocked.

  > Name: Jammer 2

  > Description: A jammer can be used to jam electronic devices, such as surveillance cameras or cell phones, causing them to malfunction temporarily. You don’t have to carry the jammer all the time. Instead, you can activate the device and attach it to a wall. While it’s working, all electronic devices in the area will be malfunctioning. For example, the surveillance cameras won’t be working, so you can wander around the area undetected while the jammer is active. Also, when the jammer is active, heisters can’t communicate with each other by their cell phones. Once you activate the jammer, you can’t deactivate it. Also, the jammer is disposable, meaning you can’t re-use it after it finishes working.

  > The jammer’s stats:

  > Amount: 2

  > Duration: 20 seconds (basic 10 seconds + additional 10 seconds)

  > Cost: 1 skill point

  > Note: You cannot learn Jammer 2 if you do not have Jammer 1 unlocked.

  > Name: Camera Deactivator 2

  > Description: You can disable a camera to prevent it from detecting you and your teammates. The effect lasts for several seconds. If a camera has a small green light, it means that a heister watches the feed from this camera right now. With the camera deactivator skill learned, you can deactivate the camera and heister won’t be able to watch the feed from this particular camera for several seconds.

  > Camera Deactivator’s stats:

  > The number of cameras you can disable at the same time: 2

  > Duration: 60 seconds (basic 30 seconds + additional 30 seconds)

  > Cost: 1 skill point

  > Note: You cannot learn Camera Deactivator 2 if you do not have Camera Deactivator 1 unlocked.

  > Name: Heartbeat Sensor 2

  > Description: The heartbeat sensor is an app that can be installed on your cell phone. The Heartbeat Sensor app detects the heartbeats of nearby enemies through obstacles such as walls. This heartbeat detector can read thermal signatures of your enemies within a few meters of your position. The beeping sound that the heartbeat sensor emits gets louder as you get closer to an enemy’s position. Be aware that your foes can hear the sound as well.

  > The area within which enemies can be detected: 6 meters (basic 3 meters + additional 3 meters)

  > The sound the device emits: medium

  > Cost: 1 skill point

  > Note: You cannot learn Heartbeat Sensor 2 if you do not have Heartbeat Sensor 1 unlocked.

  > Name: Medium Armor 2

  > Description: The medium armor you wear gets an additional layer of armor, so the total amount of damage you take gets decreased by 10%.

  > Note: You cannot learn Medium Armor 2 if you do not have Medium Armor 1 unlocked.

  The class I was playing as, Technician, didn’t have any skills that might allow me to dodge bullets like the previous class I had played, a Shot Caller. I had to wear medium armor, so I decided to improve its stats. I couldn’t learn Medium Armor 2 because I didn’t have Medium Armor 1 from the first branch unlocked yet. So I spent the skill point to learn it. After I leveled up to 5, I learned Medium Armor 2 from the level 4 branch of the skill tree, which unlocked the next, fifth, branch.

  When I leveled up to level 6, I examined it.

  > Level 5 Branch

  > Name: Sentry Turret gun 2

  > Description: You can deploy a small automatic sentry turret gun. It has
a radar that is programmed to fire at criminals only. However, bear in mind that while the turret gun does not target civilians or cops, it will waste whoever gets in the crossfire, including civilian NPCs and police players. The turret gun has a small monitor that shows its total loaded ammo, allowing the police players to keep track of the sentry gun’s remaining capacity. When the turret gun is out of ammunition, it tilts down its barrel and its highlight turns red.

  > Additional information: The sentry turret gun actively targets and fires at enemies that enter its detection radius and does not switch targets until its current target is dead or no longer near the gun. The turret gun stops functioning only when it runs out of ammo or is destroyed. The sentry gun can be destroyed by being shot at or having explosives such as grenades detonate near it. Players cannot repair a damaged or completely destroyed sentry gun. Also, once deployed, the sentry gun cannot be picked up and carried to another place.

  > Name: Road police spikes 2

  > Description: Road police spikes (also known as traffic spikes and tire shredders) is a device or weapon used to impede or stop the movement of wheeled vehicles by puncturing their tires. They look like back strips extended across the roads. The strips are extended across the roads all over the city. When you chase heisters and they race toward such a strip, you can use your cell phone to remotely cause the spikes to protrude. When driven over, they cause any land vehicle's tires to deflate.

  > Road police spikes’ stats:

  > Distance: you have to be within 200 meters of the strip to be able to make the spikes to stick out.

  > Cost: 1 skill point

  > Note: You cannot learn Road police spikes 2 if you do not have Road police spikes 1 unlocked.

  > Name: Blockers 2

  > Description: Blockers, or bollards, are retractable mechanical objects found around the city. You can use your cell phone to remotely cause the bollards to extend to cut off a road. Blockers are strong enough to withstand car crashes. If a player drives a vehicle at high speed and then slams into blockers, it will inflict powerful damage on the car.

  > Blockers’ stats:

  > Distance: you have to be within 200 meters of the strip to be able to make the bollards to protrude.

  > Cost: 1 skill point

  > Note: You cannot learn Blockers 2 if you do not have Blockers 1 unlocked.

  > Name: Virus 2

  > Description: Description: This skill allows you to install an app on your cell phone that can be used to temporarily infect enemies’ cell phones with a computer virus. The virus causes your enemies’ cell phones to emit a long high-pitched sound, which can compromise your enemies’ positions. The effect lasts for several seconds.

  > Virus’ stats:

  > Noise level: medium

  > Duration: 6 seconds (basic 3 seconds + additional 3 seconds)

  > Cost: 1 skill point

  > Note: You cannot learn Virus 2 if you do not have Virus 1 unlocked.

  > Name: Downed but not defeated 2

  > Description: When you are downed, your crawling speed gets increased by 10%.

  > Cost: 1 skill point

  > Note: You cannot learn Downed but not defeated 2 if you do not have Downed but not defeated 1 unlocked.

  I decided to learn Road police spikes 2.

  After I leveled up to 7, I examined the level 6 branch and learned Quadcopter 2.

  > Name: Quadcopter 2

  > Description: A quadcopter is an aerial battle drone. You can control it by using your cell phone. The drone can be used to detect movement in an area, giving an overview of hot zones of the battlefield. The quadcopter can stay airborne indefinitely. However, the quadcopter is a bit slower than the twin-wheeled drone is.

  After I leveled up to 8, then to 9, and then to 10, I learned Medium armor 3, Road police spikes 3, and Quadcopter 3 from the seventh, eighth, and ninth branches of the skill tree respectively.
