To compensate for this disappointment, I wonder if you and your husband would care to join Darcy and me in a house party we are arranging here at Pemberley in July. Please try and persuade your husband to come - I am also inviting the venerable Archdeacon of Chesterfield and his niece; I am sure that he and your reverend husband will have much to discuss regarding ecclesiastical affairs. This should leave you free to relax and to enjoy our company.
Darcy has written to your husband, inviting him to come - with the reassurance that Lady Catherine de Bourgh will be here too, so Mr Collins will feel compelled to accompany her. The archdeacon’s niece is in want of a husband, and I am hoping to present some eligible gentlemen to her during the course of the week; I imagine Lady Catherine may wish to supervise any matchmaking activity and thus you may be assured that you shall have minimal contact with her.
Finally, I have sent an invitation to Sir Richard Walden to join us. I am aware that you got on so well together when you came to visit.
