He laughed. “No, not that. Thank you for being here. For loving me. For saving me from myself.” He pulled away to meet her eyes. “Marry me, Amara.”
Her eyes grew wide and she stared at him for a long moment before giving him a wide smile. “Hell, yes.”
Dagan and Taeg whooped loudly as he snatched her in for a passionate kiss that went on and on. And on. Finally Taeg cleared his throat. “Let’s give them a moment of privacy.”
“Yeah,” Dagan agreed. “Let’s.”
Ronin tore himself away from Amara with difficulty.
“Oh darling, congratulations.” Solara rose and wobbled toward them, drawing Amara into a hug. “I wish you two much happiness.”
“Thank you.” Amara pulled away from her and gripped Ronin’s hands in her own. “You’re never going to be free of me now, my demon angel.”
“Then life is perfect.” He gave a startled jump when Solara passed close behind him.
“Did she—” Amara’s eyes narrowed. “Did my mother grab your ass?”
“Um...yup.”
“I’m going to kill her.”
She started toward Solara, but Ronin dragged her back into his embrace. “Forget her.”
“Wish I could.” Sighing, Amara closed her arms over his neck. “Do you really think you’re up for a life with Solara in it?”
“With you by my side, I’m up for anything.”
When her eyes softened and she rose to her tiptoes for another kiss, he realized how true that statement was.
Amara drew away and gave him a look so heated it practically melted his sweater off. “Come on Ronin, let’s go home.”
He laughed and started to follow her, but then paused. First, she needed to know.
“Amara, as long as I’m with you, I already am home.”
She grabbed the front of his sweater, yanking him toward her. With her lips mere inches from his, she whispered, “I know.”
Acknowledgments
I’m constantly amazed at how much hard work goes into the making of a book. Getting that first draft written is just the beginning. I owe a huge debt of gratitude to the people who’ve helped shape it into what you see today.
To Heather Howland, Libby Murphy, and Suzanne Johnson: a million Thank Yous for all the things you do to make my stories stronger and more kick-ass. I don’t know where I’d be without all of you. And Libby, thanks for all those pep talks and votes of confidence. Somehow you seemed to sense when I needed them the most. There aren’t enough words to express my gratitude.
To Liz Pelletier, for the gazillion things you do behind the scenes. I’m beginning to think you really are Superwoman!
To Cathy Yardley, my fabulous publicist, and Misa Ramirez, Entangled Publishing’s Marketing Director: thanks for all the hard work you put forth in order to get our names out there. I don’t know when you ladies ever sleep, but I’m sure glad to have you on my team!
To Mary Abshire, my friend and crit partner, who’s perfected the art of constructive criticism. Oh, and she writes some kick-ass stories herself!
Last but certainly not least, to my huge and crazy family (not just the one I was born into, but also the one I inherited through marriage): thanks for all the love and support you’ve shown me, not just with this whole writing thing, but throughout my life. As a tree cannot flourish without a strong base, neither could I without all of you. Okay, enough mushy stuff. Let it suffice to say: You guys rock!
