He shoved out a breath of what definitely sounded like relief—though how he could have doubted her answer by now was beyond her. He slid the ring onto her finger and as she stared down at it, tears spilled over. She’d never thought she would have a family of her own, and never with someone as wonderful as Lincoln.
“It’s beautiful,” she whispered as she leaned forward, kissing him.
“You’re beautiful,” he said against her mouth.
The baby kicked, startling her. She grabbed his hand and held it to her stomach. The little peanut kicked again, making both of them smile.
“Maybe when you launch your new website,” he said, “you can operate as Autumn Jordan.”
Her throat grew thick with more tears and she nodded, unable to find any words in that moment. She wanted to be a Jordan more than anything. Once all the dust had cleared a few months ago, and she’d officially been able to go back to her life “before”, she’d decided to remain Autumn Perez. But she’d been allowed to contact old friends as well, including Hector, who was planning to visit her in the new year. She was also getting back into photography and had planned to set up a small studio.
To start this new chapter of her life with the same last name as the man she loved? Oh yeah. “Nothing would make me happier,” she finally managed to get out.
She finally had her life back, she could do what she loved once again with no worries that her art would bring killers to her doorstep. She was free to live her life with the man she loved and the family they were creating.
As incredible as it seemed, all her dreams were becoming reality.
