Yes, Alpha Page 9

by Merel Pierce

She took a deep breath, clutching the necklace more tightly as she stood up and sat the box behind her on the cushions.

“Why did you choose me? I mean, there are other Omegas here, and you’ve obviously been a member for a while. So, why me?”

It was a simple question. Or, at least, it should have been. His shoulders rounded as he studied her from his kneeled position on the floor. “I scented you first.” He confessed. “I was drawn to you instinctively. But, once I saw you…” Daniel paused, looking hesitant for the first time. “When I saw you, I just… knew.”

“Just knew what?” Meghan asked incredulously. “That I was an Omega?”

He didn’t take the bait, only shaking his head. “Of course I knew you were an Omega. What I meant was, I knew that you were who I’d been waiting for.”

“How did you know that?” The inquiry was less critical, his almost vulnerable expression spurring her to soften her tone.

“You were this gorgeous, little doe eyed thing.” His gaze grew distant, as if he were reliving the moment. “So sweet and lost beneath all that makeup and those uncomfortable clothes.”

His jaw squared, his eyes sharpening with the turn of his thoughts. “When I saw the way that man was handling you, I wanted to bash his teeth down his fucking throat. That is how I knew.”

“You didn’t even know me! You still don’t.”

“Maybe not,” he mused. “But I was meant to. I rely on my gut when it comes to important decisions, and my gut is telling me you’re the submissive I’d been hoping for. I want to know you, Meghan. I think we’ll have fun together, and I want to show you what it means to have a good Alpha and Dominant. If you’ll let me, that is.”

Meghan bit her lip. For an Alpha, the sentiment was exceptionally sweet and entirely uncommon. She’d known he was something special, and despite the danger of the butterflies in her stomach, she’d made her decision.

She extended her now-free hand to the man still crouched before her, her pulse fluttering when he took her offered hand.

He stood slowly, easing her closer to the wall of his chest as he rose to his full height. He pressed her palm flat over his heart, smiling boyishly when her eyes widened at how it beat violently beneath his skin. It seemed he was nervous, too.

Before she could change her mind, Meghan nodded.

  “I-I accept.”

His expression morphed with pleasure, a dazzling grin transforming the man’s face. “May I?” He extended his hands, taking the necklace between his fingers delicately when she handed it over. He undid the fastener, gazing down on her intently as his hands slid along the sides of her throat, where he secured the clasp at her nape. He released it then, gently gathering her hair and pulling it through the loop of silver until the necklace fell into place against her skin. His purr deepened, hands cradling each side of her throat as he admired his gift.

Meghan did too, her chin tipping down as she fingered the charm resting at the center of her chest. “It’s beautiful.”

“Just like you.” His thumbs beneath her jaw tilted her chin up, his mouth covering her own in another passionate kiss.

She melted under the intensity of his touch, held steady when a strong arm came around her waist. Meghan moaned into his mouth, her purr rumbling up to mingle with his, a tumult of emotions swelling in her chest as the male staked his claim on her body. When he finally withdrew, she was reeling, a satisfied sigh oozing free of parted lips as she pressed her forehead to his chest and tried to catch her breath.

The male continued to purr, his hand on her waist keeping her close as its twin gently stroked her hair. “I never expected you,” he murmured above her head. “But I am so, so glad I found you.” He lowered his head, his next words whispered intimately against her ear. “This is just the beginning, sweetheart.”
