Claiming Racheal Page 18

“It’s in the back ask Tiny.” Trick replied. The man nodded and walked towards the shop, Katie waited until he was out of ear shot before she demanded.

  “Was that really necessary, Trick?”

“What the hell are you talking about?” He moved closer to her until they were barely a few inches apart, wanting to grab her by the shoulders and kiss that smart damned mouth.

“That.” She said motion in the direction of the shop.

  “What?”

“You know that you stormed out here to prevent him from getting any closer to me and we both know it!” Katie stormily uttered, wanting to grab the man by the ears and shake him.

“I needed that part taken to the Dixon farm, that’s the only reason I stormed out here.” Trick growled.

“Really? That’s funny because less than an hour ago I saw Rock and he said that he was taking it when he left in a few hours.”

“Well, sometimes plans change, little girl!” Trick growled, leaning towards her.

“You and I both know that the only reason you’re sending him is because he was flirting with me!” Katie yelled, her heart beating a hundred miles a minute with him so close to her. She’d wanted him desperately for over five years, since she’d turned sixteen she’d been in love with the man. It almost broke her heart every time she saw him. She wanted to think that Trick wanted her as much as she wanted him, but she feared that he thought of her only as another little sister.

“I just want to protect you the same as I would Charity! You have no idea the type of man you’re playing with! He’s not one of those boys you mess around with out in Longville. You’re playing with fire with any man in this club! They’re hardened men, not boys! That means you can’t play if you’re not ready to follow through!” Trick roared, his mouth inches from her own, making her breaths come in pants and her heart beat loudly in her ears.

“Who says I don’t plan to follow through!” Katie screamed, so mad at him for telling her again that she was a little girl. He never forgot to remind her about the difference in their ages. He was an insufferable, infernal man!

  “The hell you say, girl!”

Tricks hands clenched at his sides from even the suggestion that Katie wanted to be with any other man, it made his guts twist into knots with his anger at her declaration. He was mad because of Sal, not he thought desperately, because the thought of another man touching her was like a hot knife stabbing into his guts. Sal was like family to the club having owned the bar, Wink, for over forty years, and that was the only reason why he wanted to commit murder just thinking of her and another man. At least that’s what he told himself watching her.

“Don’t make me call your father!” Trick roared.

“What the fuck, Trick? My father, really? I’m an adult, not a sixteen year old. Who I sleep with hasn’t been my father’s problem for more than four years! I’m twenty three, damn it! You’re just fucking jealous because I’m not flirting with you!” Katie wanted to pull him closer when she caught a whiff of the cologne he was wearing. Damn, even when the man made her insanely angry she wanted the man. She almost moaned at the need for him that consumed her.

“Stop cussing! Twenty three or not you’re still a little girl! Otherwise you’d know that idiot Trevor only wants in your pants, not a relationship. And I’m not jealous, that’s disgusting your half my age! I think of you as another sister and I don’t want you to be hurt. So, act like an adult and go home!” Trick ended with a growl.

He watched her face pale when he told her that the very idea that he could want her was disgusting. He wanted to take those words back, and then grab her and thrust her back against that truck and devour her mouth for days. He held on to his sanity by a thread, even though he felt like he was burning up with this need he had for her. She couldn’t ever know that he wanted her, or the crush she thought she had on him would end up with him hurting her. He was too damned old for her, too damned hard. Turning, he stormed away before he grabbed her and kissed her like he wanted to.

“Bastard!” Katie screamed, after him. Tears were filling her eyes as she slammed the truck door open, getting in, with her heart torn to shreds by his callous words. She wanted to cry, but knew that she needed to get away from here before she did or he’d see. She cranked the truck putting it in reverse and tore out of the parking lot.

She pulled into the drive to her father’s and her cabin ten minutes later with tears streaming down her face. She was so pissed and hurt she could barely breathe. He was an asshole! Why was she so desperately in love with that man? She’d been unable to get over him no matter how hard she’d tried for the last four years. Everyone thought that the reason she looked so run down and raggedly sad all the time was what had happened that night when she was seventeen.

Yes, she’d felt guilty over Buck’s death out at the falls from her dunking him into the water, which caused him to get water poison, but she’d gotten over that in less than a year. She’d known it wasn’t her fault. She’d felt even more guilty because she’d only been out there with him to try and get Trick to notice she’d become a woman. That had upset her for a long time, but what made her look haggard all the time was the fact that she loved a man who didn’t love her back, and she wasn’t able to move on.

She’d been waiting for four years, hoping that he’d decide she was someone he might want. She wasn’t even needing his patch. She just wanted one damned night in his bed to hold on to for the rest of her life. She could walk away then, and yeah she was probably in denial about that ever being enough, but she was willing to chance it.
