“How did you get my parents there?” I asked realizing I never heard the full story.
“Where?” Maddox asked.
“To the birth of our daughter. How did you get them there? We were still in hiding.”
“I still felt guilty for putting you in that position. We had moved into this place and started up the farm again, but I knew there were moments where all you wanted was your parents. So, I took a chance. I reached out to them and told them that if they came to Ireland, I would explain everything. I told them I couldn’t pay for their flight, but I could pay them back for it once the farm was up and running.”
“Was that the money you kept talking about owing my parents?” I asked.
“It was. They hopped on a plane without a second thought. The moment you went into labor I called them and they packed their things. Took the first flight out. I told them where to meet us and that I would have all the answers they wanted, but they didn’t care.”
“What?” I asked.
“Your parents didn’t want an explanation. All they wanted was to see their daughter. And their granddaughter, of course.”
I leaned my head onto Maddox’s shoulder as the sun slowly sank beyond the horizon.
Maddox had proposed to me in the hospital in front of my parents that night. It wasn’t grand and it wasn’t romantic. It was merely a profession of love and that, no matter what, he would always be there to take care of me. I accepted without a second thought and pulled him in for a deep, loving kiss.
By the time Sienna was seven months old, we were married in a small ceremony overlooking the farm. My parents and siblings were there along with, Nova, Tyson, Chloe and her husband, Parker and Maddox’s mother.
Yes. Maddox’s mother.
After we left Seattle, things with the Steel Outlaws boiled over. For months, The Ghost Riders MC had picked away at their territory under the direction of Tony and the Steel Outlaws had had enough. Two nights after we left, a large group of the Steel Outlaws came to Seattle. They ambushed Tony at the mechanic shop and took him back to their president. His father against all of the Steel Outlaws didn’t stand a chance. No matter how many bullets he tried to fire at them.
No one has heard from Tony since, and they all assumed that he was dead. Which surprisingly everyone in the club, and Maddox’s mother included, seemed happy about. It was if a large weight had been lifted off their shoulders and they could all breathe again.
A month later a note arrived at the mechanic shop stating that if the remaining charters of the Ghost Riders MC left Portland and that the entire club got out of the gun business, then debt to the Steel Outlaws would be paid.
Needless to say, the remaining Ghost Riders were happy to end the war with the biggest motorcycle club on the West Coast.
Parker was now the new president of the Ghost Rider MC. While I knew Nova wasn’t exactly pleased that he was the president, she was happy that he was starting to take the club into a much more legitimate direction.
The moment Maddox found out about his father, he called his mother and booked her a one-way ticket to Ireland. She now owned the small house down the road from our farm and was over helping with Sienna every day. My parents have even talked about getting a vacation home here, so that they can come whenever they wanted to.
I held Maddox closely as he sniffled into my neck. Maddox wasn’t an emotional man, but he was a crier when it came to his family. He cried the day Sienna was born and the day we brought her home. He cried watching me embrace our family and he held back tears the day he found out about his father, and then cried like a baby when his mother finally arrived. He was a family man to his core and he was truly the love of my life.
We had built something incredible, and our families were able to be a part of it.
I brought my lips down onto Maddox’s for a kiss. The night sky was twinkling with stars as I straddled Maddox’s lap. My friendly kissed turned into one of passion and I felt my body come alive. I felt Maddox’s strong hands slide up my back, pressing me deeper into his chiseled form.
I melted into him as his lips traveled down my neck. Kissing my pulse point and down my chest, leaving love bites behind in his wake. I ran my hands through his hair, latching on as I leaned back. His hands planted into the small of my back and held me to him as his lips mouthed over my clothed nipples.
“Maddox,” I said breathlessly. “I need you.”
He picked me up from the chair and walked us back into our home. We traveled through the living room before he carried us into our bedroom. He laid me down onto the bed, his hand traveling up my skirt.
I could feel his fingertips sliding beneath my panties as I spread my legs for him.
I saw my future in his eyes. As looked down upon me with a fiery lust, I saw the whole of my world encased within his beautiful stare. My hips rolled into the palm of his hand as he played with my clit, sliding his fingers into the depth of my dripping pussy. Our lips collided as he brought me to orgasm and I could see his pants tenting.
I wanted his throbbing cock between my legs as fast as he could get there.
As we made love underneath the pale moonlight of the Tuscan moon, the endless possibilities of our life flashed into my mind. Trips back home and family dinners on the veranda overlooking the vineyard. Traditional Christmases at my parents and Thanksgiving dinners paired with our worldly wines. I bucked into Maddox, my fingers curving into the muscles of his back as he snapped his hips against mine.
“Reagan. My queen. Fuck, you feel so good.”
With every surface he pinned me against, another facet of our life popped into my mind. He bent me over the edge of our bed and I thought of all the children I wanted to fill our home with. He took me on top of our dining room table and I thought about all the family meals we would share together. He pinned me to the front door and I thought of how many times both of our families would walk through those doors with happiness strewn across their faces.
And when Maddox laid me against the pillows and rolled deeply into my body, I thought about him.
About the life he had promised me when we left the States and how he had fulfilled that promise.
“Maddox. Please. I can’t take it anymore.”
“Give me one more, Reagan. Come for me one last time.”
My back arched off the bed as Maddox filled me with his essence. I gripped onto his arms, clinging to him as I chanted his name. Stars burst behind my eyes and my toes curled, my pleasure leaving me breathless. I could feel Maddox’s sweat dripping onto my skin as our bodies shook against each other.
“I love you,” he said breathlessly.
“I love you too, Maddox.”
He collapsed on top of me and I held him close to my body. I cherished moments like this with him. It was the only moment in our lives when he was weaker than I was. Panting and gasping for breath as his body recuperated from the pleasure it had washed over my body. I loved this man. I loved him and the life we had created together. I had been a rough road filled with tears, trials, fear, and uncertainty. But we were on the road to success.
To having the life and the family both of us had always wanted.
He rolled off my body and took me with him. I curled my body into the crook of his arm and watched as his chest rose and fell with his breaths. His heartbeat was the most soothing sound to me. With every thump, it reminded me of the dedication this beautiful man had for me. From day one, when he was trying to convince me he wasn’t Landon, all the way until now. He had been dedicated to not only me, but the truth he wished desperately to live.
“How does next month sound?”
Maddox’s voice wafted over my ears as I drew in a deep breath.
“For what?” I asked.
“Having Nova and Tyson come visit. How does next month sound?”
I smiled and nuzzled into him as he placed a kiss to the top of my head.
“I’ll give my Nova a call in the morning,” I said. “See what her schedule is like.

“Then maybe the month after that we could take a vacation and go home.”
I craned my neck up and caught Maddox’s gaze as I rose my hand to cup his cheek.
“We are home,” I said. “But I would love to take the time to go visit our families in the States.”
And the smile that rose upon his cheeks fluttered my heart and filled my stomach with butterflies. We were home. Tucked away in our home surrounded by the farm that would pave a way for us to provide for our family.
Tucked away in one another’s arms underneath the Ireland sky.
“I love you,” Maddox said. “Until all the stars in the sky burn out and die.”
“And I love you,” I said. “Until the moon crumbles and the planet fades away.”
Then I curled into his arms, allowed my eyes to close, and dreamt of the future we would have together. After all of the fighting and all of the struggling and all of the uncertainty, I could look towards the future with a smile in my heart. And I knew that whatever came my way, no matter how dire it seemed, as long as I had Maddox, I would make it.
We would make it.
No matter what.

A Second Chance Military Romance

Chapter One
Brooks
“Still here, Brooks?” Jamie, my colleague, asked, having exchanged his uniform for the simple black shirt and jeans. Everyone had finished for the day, but I was still working on the engine of 2010 Ford Fusion.
“I’m just doing some last-minute patching up. The client needs it fixed ASAP.”
“You’re working pretty damn hard, man. Take a breather for a change.”
I just waved him off with a smirk on my face, well aware that the chances for a break were next to nothing. I couldn’t afford it.
I didn’t remember when the last time I had a good, long break was. I was working my ass off as a mechanic, but it wasn’t enough.
“Seriously, get some rest. I’m sure you’re going to scare Langley off with those dark circles any day now.”
It was easy for him to say that. He lived with his parents, who didn’t struggle with bills, and all he had to worry about was getting laid.
“I’ll have some rest when I die.”
Jamie tsked. “Why are you so down in the dumps? Relax. Go and see Langley, have some fun.”
“Yes, dad.”
He let out a hearty chuckle and tapped my shoulder. “I know I will.” He winked. “I met a nice piece of ass yesterday, and she promised me good time tonight.”
“Use protection,” I teased him.
“Who’s acting like a dad now? Later.”
He strode out of the shop, and I was left all alone with my not-so-lighthearted thoughts.
An hour later I was finally able to wrap my work up. Wiping the sweat off my forehead, I checked my phone for any messages from my mom’s nurse, Kelly. There were none. I typed a message for her, heading back to my mom’s house to take care of her for the night, hoping there had been no complications.
“Sorry. I had to work late again, but I’m on my way now. How’s mom?”
Her text came quickly.
“That’s alright. I told you not to worry about it. Mary is fine. She’s sleeping at moment.”
“I’ll be there in ten.”
I sent her the message and entered my beat up Chevrolet Beretta, battling with exhaustion. These days my mom was in pain more than usual, and she could barely move around the house. I relied on Kelly to take care of her when I was at work, who was a godsend because I had no other family.
My father had died in a car accident when I was little, and it had been me and my mother ever since. She had been a teacher, however, she’d been diagnosed with breast cancer, which had prevented her from working. Even then we could barely make ends meet, but after she lost her job due to her illness, everything spiraled down, her medical bills getting higher and higher but our wallets thinner and thinner.
Now it was up to me to provide money for food, bills, and her care, but it had been tough on me because I barely made anything as a mechanic. On top of that, my insurance was terrible, and I had no idea how to find a solution for this predicament. I had dropped out of college to take care of my mom, so I had no other choice but to keep working as a grease monkey.
Each day took its toll on me, so the moment I parked my car in my mom’s driveway, my eyes closed shut, and I placed my forehead against the wheel. I had to pull myself together because I couldn’t worry my mother. She needed all the support she could get, and she was already concerned about me more than she was supposed to.
“You’re working so hard, sweetie. I don’t feel good knowing you’re struggling every day like this,” she had told me a couple of days ago.
“Don’t worry about it, mom. I’m fine.” I grinned at her, studying her tired face subtly. The prominent winkles were etched on her pallid skin, her previously bright green eyes dull and lifeless now. Her lips were set in a constant frown, rarely curling into a smile. “You just rest and don’t worry about anything. You’re going to be alright.”
Her brows furrowed even further. “Are you going to be alright?”
I didn’t let my grin waver. “What are you talking about, mom? I’m great!”
She let it slide, but I knew she didn’t buy it.
“Good evening, Kelly,” I greeted her when I entered the living room. She was sitting on the couch, watching a rerun of Friends.
“Hey, Brooks. You done for today?”
“Finally. Mom is sleeping?”
“Yes. She was reading a book in her bed and she fell asleep soon after.”
“How is she?”
Kelly shut down the TV and stood up, ready to go. “Her pain was worse today, so I managed to convince her to stay in bed all day. You know how stubborn she is about staying in bed for hours on end.”
“Did the painkillers help?”
She shrugged her shoulders, on her way to the front door. “Not much, but you won’t hear her complain about it. I don’t believe she’ll wake up until the morning, so why don’t you go and lay down a bit? You don’t look so well yourself.”
I smiled at her, but it didn’t make her expression any less stern. “You know I have to keep an eye on her.”
“You have to take care of yourself too. You won’t be of any help to her if you collapse one of these days.”
“No worries.”
“No worries, no worries,” she mumbled to herself. “Always saying that.” She shook her head, clearly dissatisfied. “You’re stubborn like a mule, just like her. Oh well. I’m off. See you tomorrow.”
“Bye, Kelly. And thanks a lot.”
I tip-toed to my mom’s bed, observing her sleeping face. She had finished a fourth round of chemotherapy last week, but instead of getting better, she was getting worse. Her bald head was in a stark contrast to her honey-colored long hair she’d had before she lost it, and the dark circles around her eyes were permanent. She had difficulty walking and she was getting exhausted quickly, which prevented her from doing anything remotely hard.
She had always been a lively woman, cheerful even at the times of distress, but her illness had really gotten to her. She remained optimistic, never losing hope, but her treatment seemed never-ending, and I was afraid I would come home one day only to hear that she had lost her battle with cancer.
“Hello, mom.” I kissed her forehead, caressing her head. “It was a busy day, but I’m here now. You know how much I love you, right?”
I sat down next to her and watched her with a half-smile on my face. I loved her so much. She was the best mother in the world, always taking care of me and sh
owering me with love, even during the hard period after dad’s death.
She’d made sure I was happy and had everything I needed at all times, dedicating her whole life to me, and I could never repay her for everything she’d done for me. The irony was that I had never seen her cry. Not even once. She’d shouldered the burden alone, but that never destroyed her spirits.
So doing all I could for her now even if it killed me was the least I could do. I would do anything for her. Anything. I was a mama’s boy, but I would never let anyone know just how close I was to her. Some things were better kept secret.
My phone vibrated in my pocket, and I fished it out. It was Langley.
“I miss you,” her message said.
With a smile, I went over to the armchair across from mom’s bed and sat down, typing a text for Langley.
“I miss you too, babe. How was your day?”
“Tedious. I had Mrs. Brooks complaining about spoiled food again. She just keeps pushing it.”
Mrs. Brooks was an old lady who apparently had nothing better to do than chasing discounts in the most outrageous way. Time after time, she claimed something was wrong with the goods she’d purchased, and it was giving headaches to everyone working at Langley’s store. Langley’s work wasn’t peachy either.
“I hope your boss put her in her place this time.”
“Thankfully, yes. He threatened to call the police if she does that again. This was her third time this month and it’s more than enough.”
“Don’t stress about it too much. Remember that you have me.”
“I know. Whenever it’s hard, I think of you and that keeps me going.”
I could say the same. The only thing that got me through it all was Langley.
Langley was a sweet and innocent girl, who had attracted me from the moment I laid my eyes on her. She had blonde hair and bright blue eyes with light freckles scattered across her face that added to her girl-next-door looks. She was curvy, just the way I liked it.
Langley and I were dating since high school, and we were still going strong. She was extremely supportive ever since we found out about mom’s breast cancer, and she was the one who kept me away from depression and despair. Whenever I fell, she was there to pick me up, and I could never thank her enough for being there for me.
