Morgan pounded the desk. "Come on!"
A message appeared one word at a time as if being entered in real time.
"Someone who knows we're here doesn't want us getting out." Liam leaned in for a closer read.
The message read: YOU'RE TOO LATE, PEEWEE. WORLD DOMINATION IS HERE.
"Thomas!"
Caleb jumped up and down with nervous energy. "Wait, what's he mean?"
Rhonda stepped closer to the monitor. "World domination? Didn't Thomas say something like that at the convention?"
Liam ran his fingers through his hair. Thoughts were coming at him faster than he could process. The tournament. The top secret HoriZon event. Virtual Reality. The unknown game for the tournament. Clones. Suddenly everything was crystal clear. "It means HoriZon's planning to unleash Zombie Game on the world."
"Oh, no," said Rhonda.
Caleb muttered with a shaky voice, "Third game's a charm, eh?"
"Hurry, get us back so we can stop it!" Liam demanded.
Morgan pressed a few keys and turned to the group. "This should do it."
Either Liam had gotten used to the feeling, or the portal transport was different that time. When he opened his eyes again, he was standing in Morgan's living room with his friends. They all cheered and hugged, so happy to be back in the real world again.
But Liam had a funny feeling something wasn't right. He walked to the window and peeked out the curtain. "Guys... I'm not sure it worked."
Morgan asked, "Why's that?"
Morgan and the others joined Liam at the window. Liam flung open the curtain so they could all see. Staring back at them from the other side of the window was a zombie.

Note From the Author
First off, I want to say Thank You to everyone who has read the Zombie Boy series and encouraged me to continue the story. Writing Liam's adventures through a video game has been great fun! As a life-long gamer, I've often wondered what it would be like. I hope if it ever does happen, my world isn't overrun with flesh eating zombies! Or, if it does, I have someone like Liam on my side.
The sequel, Level Up, was a blast to write! Hopefully, you've read the book you're holding in your hands and didn't skip to the back. Beware! Spoilers ahead!
While writing, I got to recall all the different game worlds I played growing up--jungles, caves, graveyards--and being transported between those worlds by portals. Stay tuned for even more familiar game worlds! Not only was it awesome to explore all the different areas, but I got to live out my own gaming fantasy by having Liam and friends battle giant mini-bosses. Who didn't dream about taking down a huge baddie with your friends?
I hope you've enjoyed Liam's continued transformation into a more confident young man, as well as a more leveled-up, zombie-bashing machine!
Stay tuned for the final book in the Adventures of Zombie Boy trilogy!
