His energies emitted being no different from that of a half-step True Soul realm practitioner, beside him were a few other might looking elders whose strengths were at the levels of the early, middle, and late Warrior realm experts. Still, this was only the levels of strength on the outside surface, for the most crucial manner here was that each of them was a middle-class fiend, which is of course, with the exception of the leader….

“Tsk! All those bastards getting the good roles and here I am a rare breed of my kind stuck with rare guard duty…” The Reptilian Guard Leader said as he lazily glanced around the broad planes, the Elder and Elite-level middle-class fiends who were by his side staying silent as they all knew about his unique temper tantrums.

As Reptilian Guard Leader was lazily glancing around at the surrounding fields, he couldn’t help but fix his eyes towards the distant region of forestry, as if feeling something strange he knitted his brows while speaking, “Um? What’s going on there?”

The elders and elites nearby also glanced towards that location with a curious look in their eyes, but after a moment the looks in their eyes became one of vigilance as they promptly rushed forwards towards the various units on patrol.

The Reptilian Guard Leader had also become vigilant as a look of excitement came into his previously bored eyes, he thought to himself, “Hehehe! It looks like my worries have come to an end. Ha! I wonder who it is among their ranks that have come to bring their own death!” He calmly swept his eyes across the field and shouted, “All units prepare for battle! We have intruders in our regions!

The army of fiends hearing this quickly reorganized themselves as they prepared to meet the enemy, the region grew quiet as only the sound of the wind along with the rustling leaves and grasses could be heard. Eventually, the sound of a large number of footsteps could be heard trembling the land as if massive horde was approaching.

Quickly, the trees of the forest began to shake as after a short period of time a large army appeared from its covers, the instant they appeared from within the trees, they charged towards the fortress with full strides as if they didn’t care for their lives.

“Uwwwaaa!!” The joint human army yelled as they rushed like a stampede form the great migration, the squad leaders and troop commander of these units sneered as they saw the enemy’s reckless charge.

“Ha! You are courting death! Kill them all!” One of the troop commanders shouted, following his words the well-organized horde of fiends also charged at their enemies as their voices could reach the heavens, “Death to the humans!”

The earth shook and sky trembles as the battle for the palace was about to be truly set into motion…

  Chapter 159

The Leaders Face Off! A Successful Infiltration!

Bang! A massive explosion that seemed as if it could shake the very world sounded across a chaotic battlefield. If one looked closely, they would see a massive section of land that formed a crater no less than a few hundred meters, at the center of this crater where a large group of fiends and human practitioners who were battling in an extremely fierce and brutal manner.

One group of human practitioners gathered together as they jointly launched special attacks ranging from swords skills, spells and even ocular techniques at the larger number of fiends surrounding them, these attacks then formed into a myriad of multi-colored lights which quickly connected into the bodies of assaulting fiends.

As these attacks struck their enemies, they created a series of explosive burst which pushed back and destroyed only a few of the assaulting fiends, as the mightier among them easily charged through the clusters of energies as if they were nothing.

These fiends would also jointly attack as their eyes glowed in a sinister red light which seemed to be the source of all evil itself as they struck out their arms causing their dark energies to streak across the void before viscously colliding with their enemies.

However, as their attacks crashed into the humans, they were mostly hindered by a semi-transparent barrier which formed over their bodies removing a major fraction of the energies might before shattering to pieces. The remnant energies from these attacks were then avoided by the stronger among the human practitioners as the weaker among them suffered light to severe injuries.

“Chet! These humans and their damn techniques…” One of the fiend squad leaders cursed in anger as he saw that his armies joint attack was mostly negated, another squad leader who was nearby narrowed his eyes as she spoke, “It seems that there are quite a few exception mental practitioners with the ranks, these individuals were rare even in those days…”

“Hmph! It matters not how rare they are, the only thing that matters in this battle is victory!” The squad replied in anger, the leader who spoke previously remained silent as he pondered on how to solve the current circumstances, after a short moment, the voice a different leader spoke.

“We should divide a fraction of our units and send them to deal with the enemy’s mental practitioners.”

The leaders hearing this thought that it was a very sound suggestion as they nodded their heads, then the leader who spoke saw this he then began to order, “Good! Notify the elites, we must ready th---” Yet, before he could finish his words there was a sudden change…

Swooosh! The sound of something soaring through the air resounded across the battlefield, it moved at an extremely high speed as if the moment it was heard was the very moment it had reached its target.

Bang! A massive cloud of dust formed as a boulder the size of 30 meters had fallen on top of the earlier speaking squad leader, his body now crushed by the boulder due to his negligence and inability to swiftly prepare his guard.

“Dammit! Who did that?!” One of the squad leaders shouted in rage as he glared towards the distance, after a short while, a red whip with spikes had unfurled itself from the massive boulder as it sliced its way back its origin. There, the hand of a gorgeous woman dressed in a dress with blood red roses appeared along with a few other might looking individuals.

“Heh, you foolish fiends let your guard down in war, so I obliged you with a present…” The Blood Rose Union female elder said while smiling, the beauty from Rain Sword Sect also smiled when she heard this as she spoke in a teasing manner, “Fei Meng, it seems that you’ll always be the same…”

Fei Meng stuck out her tongue when she heard words and replied, “Bla! Well, at least, I’m not as cold and bland as you are even Yu Ying. After so many years, maybe joining the Rain Sword Sect did more bad for you than good…”

Yu Ying only smiled as she shook her head in response, the elder from the Dark Sky Pavilion now walking before both with his eyes facing the squad leader as spoke, “Hmph! It seems that no matter the circumstances you two will always find the time to be idle…”

Yu Ying and Fei Meng both ignored him as if he didn’t exist as their eyes were now focusing on the enemy leaders, the elder from the Dark Sky Pavilion seeing this grew discontented as he snorted while muttered, “Chet! Just you wait…”

Shing! The sound of a sharp blade soon resounded across the region as the grim looking man from the Seven Blade Mercenaries also stepped forwards, his eyes completely focused on the body of seeming destroyed squad leader underneath the boulder, not too far away from them were the figures of Tang Lie and Xin Zhu who laughed while discussing the scene before them.

“The bastard Sheng Yuan has been edgy since his sect’s brat lost to the Feng Clan’s child, I wonder if he’s really still thinking his clan could match them?” Xin Zhu asked in a mischievous manner.

Tang Lie who was nearby shook his head as he replied, “Haha! Even he wouldn’t be that foolish, besides even if he did, we would still need to make out of today’s battle alive, look even Ni Bianyuan doesn’t have the leisure of lowering his guard…”

As he said this, he pointed his fingers towards grim man from the seven blade mercenaries. Xin Zhu also nodded his head as he saw this, the two of them becoming silent as they cautiously observed their
enemies.

The squad leaders who were previous mad at the unexpected assault launched by Fei Meng now carried a look of unprecedented calmness, their eyes having a tinge of mockery as they swept across their figures.

Suddenly, the ground began to shake as the boulder that had crushed the previous squad leader broke to pieces; the body of squad leader was crushed underneath it now standing on his two feet without even the slightest injury. He moved his sinister looking red eyes towards Fei Meng and licked his lips as he spoke a cold voice, “Haha! Who would have thought that by acting as bait we would be able to draw you lot out in the open? You guys are the human leaders aren’t you, a truly foolish thing you have done…”

Snap! As he said this, he snapped his fingers causing a strange energy to spread across the air.

Swoosh! Swoosh! Swoosh! Instantly, a few other mighty looking fiends appeared their eyes glowing a sinister light as their bodies emanated a dreadful power.

The squad leader smiled upon seeing this as he mocked Fei Meng and the rest, “Hahaha! I’d like to see how you fools survive today!! Kill them!!”

Immediately after his words, the squad leaders along with himself rushed towards their group with the mighty fiends who had surrounded them from all corners, Fei Meng and others now promptly reading themselves for a dread battle with no ounce of fear in their eyes.

“This will be a lot harder than we thought…” Xin Zhu said, Tang Lie hearing him replied as he rushed forwards to battle, “Haha! What’s wrong? Finally, catching up to your age, Old Zhu?”

“Chet! Brat, age has its advantages…” Xin Zhu responded as his body blurred while rushing towards his charging enemies, the others had also rushed out to battle soon after collided with the fiends, causing a series of shocking booms to ripple across the area as their dread battle began…

Swooosh! A chilly blood-scented wind blew across this region, which was in the direct vicinity of the Fortress Walls. If one looked closely, they would notice that tree mighty individuals stood in a standoff against one indomitable reptilian-like fiend.

Their robes dancing in the wind as their hairs swayed back forth while stared at each other with sharp looking eyes, Suddenly, one of the glanced towards the chaotic battlefield noticing newly created shockwaves and rippling energies.

“Seems that they’ve begun…” Xun Yanshan said in a calm manner, Nei Sinian who was inside of his mental power War God Apparition nodded as he replied, “Indeed, but it also seems that neither of battles will be an easy feat…”

“Um,” Xun Yanshan replied as the two of them cautiously stared at the reptilian fiend, Ye Shuye remained silent as he calmly inspected the surroundings.

The Reptilian Fiend Guard Leader had also noticed the new battle that sprung up in the distant, however, he only sneered at it as looked at the three before him and mocked, “You foolish humans think that you’re a match for us?”

“Even if you are a middle-class fiend you will not find it so easy when battling against us!” Xun Yanshan said in a confident manner.

Bang! Immediately after his words, the trio unleashed their energies causing the surroundings to ripple due to their combined strengths. Their energies where now shockingly at the Half-step True Soul degree as it seemed that each of them had harvested greatly during their travels in the mystic realm.

“Oh, well it does seem that you’re not all talk, but it’s a pity, for although I am a middle-class fiend, my strength has transcended its boundaries, making me….” As the Reptilian Fiend Guard Leader said this, his body began to grow larger becoming a height that even larger than the battle giant that Nei Sinian controlled. His oppressive half step True Soul energies rising to a whole new peak as his battle prestige surpassed his previous limits.

The faces of Xun Yanshan, Nei Sinan, and even the usually silent Ye Shuye grew dark as they saw this change, as he saw their expression he smiled in a sinister manner as his voice rumbled the surroundings, “I am a Variant…”

Their pressures in the atmosphere rising to a whole new level, as an epic showdown was set into motion….

  ∞ ∞ ∞

As the battles between the leaders of the major influences and the more powerful fiends went into motion, there was a different group which had managed to stealthily make their way into the enemy’s camp.

Their group being solely comprised of confident looking youths who each emanated an unusual level of strength that could hardly be associated with their ages, as they skillfully infiltrated the fortress, they would overwhelm the weaker foes with stunning variety of skills and techniques.

“Where did they go? Find them!!” One of the fortress guards yelled at his subordinates as due to their incompetence in catching the enemies, the fiends subordinates hearing this quickly scattered as they scanned the fortress corners for the intruders.

One fiend made his way towards a dark corner cautiously using his fiendish sense to scan the area, after having discovered nothing, he could only curse to himself, “Chet! Why didn’t he go look himself? These damn rats are so good at hiding how are we to---”

Just as he was about to finish his words, a chill ran behind his back as a sharp sound followed.

Screeeh! A sharp shrilling sound as a flash of silver light flickered across the fiend’s neck, quickly this light receded into the darkness as a figure began to slowly walk out from the darkness, his short silver hair flowing behind his neck as he sharp looking eyes carried a trace of arrogance.

“You… y---cough!” The fiend tried to open his mouth to speak as looked at youth before him in terror for a moment but ended up coughing out a large amount of blood, his body soon after falling to the group as his consciousness faded into darkness.

“A strength comparable to the initial levels of True Foundation realm, yet he’s so weak…” Zang Xu muttered in a tone filled with disappointment, he looked at the bits of blood on his spear and shook it causing the blood to splatter onto the floor. He picked up the golden key from around the dead fiend’s neck and placed the spear in an upright position as he glanced towards the different dark alleys.

Not long after, the figures of Nei Dongyuan, Dai Lin, Miren Fei, Ni Wen, Xia Rou, Ye Weng, Sheng Bing along with the others appeared as they now each carried a similar looking key in their hands.

Zang Xu seeing this nodded and asked, “So you’ve found all of them?”

Dai Lin hearing this walked forwards and replied, “Um. These are all of the keys that used are to invoke the trial mechanism that allows entry into the gate to the dragon palace...”

“Hmm, well let’s hope that the ancient dragon battlefield chart wasn’t telling any lies regarding the use of these keys…” Zang Xu replied with a cool tone, he moved his eyes from the group and scanned the other surroundings. Soon, his eyes locked onto the massive form that stood proudly around the massive palace gate.

“Heh, now that’s a big one, maybe he will put up more of a challenge than his minions…” Dai Lin said with a tone filled with confidence his body, Miren Fei who was nearby also revealed a combative look as she glanced at the figure in the distance.

“By the time you guys do anything my spells would have already decimated that bunch of blob!” Xia Rou said as her eyes glowed in a strange light, A powerful mental force rippled within the area as a divine semitransparent armor appeared on Nei Dongyun’s form. He walked ahead of the group and spoke in conceited fashion, “The mind has always been the true strength of man, I will be enough…”

As he spoke, he rushed forwards from the group charging towards the guard of the gate with full strides. Soon, his figure had entered its range, Zang Xu and the others seeing this shook their heads and followed.

The fiend guard who stood before the gate was unusually bored, it opened its mouth to yawn and rub its eyes as if it ready to fall to sleep, but before it could do that a youth wrapped by many types of cloth had appeared before it.

“Heh! You stinking pest have finally revealed y
ourselves!” The large and fat fiend said, he slowly picked himself up from the ground reaching a height of the same warlord giant that Nei Dongyuan was using. He gripped his fists together and yelled at the brat, “Daring to challenge a middle-class fiend on your own, prepare to die!”

Bang! His 1st Tier True Foundation energies rising to the peak as he was ready to destroy the foolish brat before him, Nei Sinan feeling this change also grew solemn as he didn’t think his opponent would be a middle-class fiend, luckily for him though, the other Chosen had chosen to simultaneously act.

“Heh! While we don’t want to stand in your way of self-sacrifice, but your death will only hinder our mission!” Dai Lin said, as he pointed his palms towards the fiend and shouted, “Prison of Thunder!”

Bang-ka! A massive array of lighting quickly shrouded the body of the fiend trapping it in a cage of lighting, as this happened, the fiend looked at Dai Lin with a hint of surprise before it struck the cage with its fists.

“A very interesting technique, but it’s not enough!” He roared as his fist imbued with a strange power smashed into the cage at full force.

Boom! The collision caused a shockwave to spread out for a few meters, but as the shockwave faded, the scene that was revealed was a shocking one to all as the cage of lightning was still in full effect.

“What?!” The fiend guard said as he looked at the sturdy cage with a deep look in his eyes, along with his somewhat electrocuted hands, before he could do anything Dai Lin once more spoke, “While it would be nice to explain my new technique, I don’t think these guys will be kind enough to give me that chance…”

The moment his voice finished, the figures of Zang Xu, Xia Rou, Miren Fei, and the others had appeared around the fiends trapped form each with their weapons and bodies shrouded by their powerful auras as they stepped towards him with a steady pace.
