“Oh…” she said, echoing her early response, but with new understanding. “Do you not want kids? I’m sure I’m safe right now.”
“I want kids. Several, actually. Sturdy little boys and beautiful little girls who look like their mother.” He paused inside their bedroom door and kissed the tip of her nose. “But…”
She cringed at the “but”. They’d never boded well for her.
“I think we should wait. You still have to deal with Ree, and you have a rodeo to plan.”
“There is no rodeo.”
“There will be, trust me. And you will be amazing at it.”
“We’ll see.” He seemed to be counting chickens before they hatched, so to speak, and she wasn’t as confident as he was. Still, waiting for kids seemed a good idea. She wanted to plan an amazing wedding for them without worrying about being sick the whole time.
She pushed him onto the bed and climbed over him, straddling his waist just as she heard moans erupting from the other room. “I should show you something else I’m amazing at,” she said, grinning.
“Dear God, show me,” he begged, his hands clamping on her hips. He rocked into her, separated by denim.
She whipped the shirt over her head and tossed it aside. She skimmed her palms up her torso and cupped her breasts, rolling the nipples in her fingers. His hands covered hers. As he took over, she reached between them to open his jeans. His cock throbbed into her fist as she closed around it.
Stretching sideways, she grabbed a condom from the table then sheathed him. With a quick shift, she sank over him. Their unison groans echoed around them as he filled her. Even if she never had all three men again, just having Pete would be enough. He satisfied her in a way no other man could. He filled her heart and her body.
She leaned forward and kissed him as she slowly rocked her hips. “I love you, Pete. Thank you for helping me find home and belonging.”
He stared into her eyes and brushed her hair from her face. “Moon, you are my home. You’ll always belong with me. I love you.”
As they lost themselves in one another, Moon knew there had never been a purer truth. If they had each other, they had everything. She couldn’t ask for anything more. Her wandering and running was over. In Pete, in Cord and Sully, in Daly, she’d found all that she’d always craved: belonging. Love. Home. Acceptance. And a place that was truly hers.
About the Author
When it comes to books and movies, Brynn has one rule: there must be a happy ending. After that one requirement, anything goes. And it just might in her books.
She lives in Michigan with her husband and two children, who love her despite her occasional threats to smite them. They humor her and let her think she's a goddess…as long as she provides homemade chocolate chip cookies on a regular basis. Brynn has conducted workshops at several writers’ conferences around the country and enjoys mentoring and meeting new people.
According to Brynn, her writing success can be attributed to an eclectic collection of music, her local road construction crews, a trusty notebook, and of course, her husband, Mr. Inspiration, who puts up with a lot in the name of research.
Brynn loves to talk to her readers and can be found at www.brynnpaulin.com.
