Bloodlines Trilogy Page 6

Casey went back to her desk but her eyes followed Cartwrights every step to elevator “Oh, and Mr. Cartwright?” he looked back over his shoulder at her, “That warehouse is still under investigation, make sure our department has access inside and out until further notice.” the doors opened, he entered, then turned to face her smiling as they closed again. Casey’s skin crawled.

“You’re just letting him walk out of here?” Ray asked. He’d been anxiously waiting at her desk for details from the minute he took the suspect to the interview room.

“What else can I do, it all checks out. I’ve got nothing to hold him on. Let’s call it a night.” She insisted snatching up her bag and making her way to the elevator.

  Chapter Ten

Casey made her way to her apartment; she was beginning to wish she’d stayed at the station. Coming home to an empty home was becoming tiresome and depressing.

She put the key in the lock and opened the door. Instinctively she knew she wasn’t alone tonight. There was someone inside. With the nagging feeling that eyes were watching her over the past few weeks and the pictures of the latest massacres dancing in her heard, she wasn’t about to take any chances. She drew her pistol from its holster and crept over the threshold silently closing the door. It was dark, only lit up from the glow of the neighbouring city lights, but Casey knew that someone was there, or at the very least, had been there.

She heard a rustling coming from her bedroom and swiftly made her way to the door. There in her bed, Jen was laying naked in her wake. Casey had almost forgotten how beautifully sculptured Jen’s body was. Naturally calved by the hand of god, the lights shone through the window causing shadows to fall between her magnificent mounds.

Casey slipped her gun back into its holster and removed her belt. ‘God your beautiful.’ she thought as she removed the rest of her clothes and sat beside Jen on the bed. She touched her slightly on the ankle and began trailing her fingers up her calf, past her knee and along her inner thigh.

Jen moaned and opened her eyes, “You’re home, what time is it?”

“A little after ten,” Casey told her as Jen's legs parted so Casey could guide her finger tips further up the middle. “I’ve missed you,” Casey leaned forward to taste Jen's lips before she could part them and say anything in response.

She cupped her palm to Jen's pussy and began gently massaging her mound. Jen parted her legs even further as she felt two fingers open her moist lips and a third one enter her swollen cave. Casey moved her mouth to Jen's neck and nestled that sensitive spot she knew Jen liked, she sucked and licked at her soft skin and ears before making her way to her spiked nipples.

Her fingers buried deep inside her, slowly sliding in and out of her clenching snatch.

Her lips kissed down her smooth body inch by inch until she reached her pubes. She repositioned herself between Jen's legs and began kissing the open mouth between them. Jen's hips elevated and she reached down raking her fingers through Casey’s hair. Then filling both hands with her locks she pulled Casey’s face into her folds. Casey’s mouth engulfed the swollen nub, her tongue flicked over it tickling the sensitive nerve endings that made Jen's back arch in ecstasy.

Once her peak was met, she flipped Casey over to return the favour. She’d forgotten how silky smooth Jen's face felt against her thighs, and once her velvet tongue wiped across her clit it reminded her of the ecstasy that she’d missed for what seemed like an eternity.

As the remnants of how good they were together ran down the inside of Jen’s thigh, she straddled Casey’s hips, allowing their pussy’s to kiss. Jen placed a hand on either side of Casey’s head and lowered her peaked nipple to toy with her lovers equally hardened cherry. Jen leaned down to capture her spent essence from Casey’s lips, trapping Casey’s moans as her mouth swallowed her woman’s needy sounds. Jen released her hold over Casey as she groaned with the desperate ache to be touched in the only way a lover knows how. Jen reached for the dildo that she knew was hidden in the nightstand. She wriggled down Casey’s body to enable her to move, “Get on all fours and spread your legs.” Jen instructed.

Jen flipped over onto her back with her head between Casey’s thighs. She positioned the nob of the dildo at the opening of Casey’s slippery entrance. Then as her mouth covered her swollen gem she began to penetrate her pussy an inch deeper with every slow thrust. As Casey’s body tightened with the urgency to cum, Jen began to fuck her with firm, hard strokes. Casey’s throat felt like it was on fire, as her breathing became heavy. Her breasts swaying as her hips met the rhythm of Jen’s experienced manipulations. “Don’t stop baby, I’m gonna cum so hard for you.” Casey’s fingernails embedded in the sheets as her inner muscles clamped down and her clit throbbed as she screamed out her orgasm.

Casey asked the assuming question while they were lying on their backs, indulging in the afterglow. “When are you coming home babe? I miss you.”

Jen sat up and sighed. “Case, I’m not coming home. That’s not what this was about.”

“What do you mean? What was it about then?” Casey asked, with eyes narrowed.

“I left without saying goodbye properly. I love you, I just can’t be with you. I only wanted to say good bye properly. I’m sorry if you thought…” Casey interrupted before she could say another word.

“You thought? I was getting over you, moving on with my life! Say goodbye? That’s what your letter said, and your absence! Then you sneak back in here like you have a right to be here, and you lay in my bed like you're mine. Fuck me, and then tell me it was just a good bye fuck? Get out!”

Jen tried to explain “Case please…”

“GET OUT!!” Casey hid her hurt inside her anger.

Jen dressed quickly, and made her way to the door, “Leave the keys on the counter, you won’t be needing them again.” Casey called from the bedroom. Her tears held in by sheer stubbornness.

Jen took them from her bag and tossed them on the counter, slamming the door behind her, she was gone…for good.

Casey looked at the alarm clock beside her bed, 2:17am. Panic struck. A killer is still out there. She threw some clothes on and raced after Jen. The streets were dark, and wet, and Jen didn’t drive. The closest bus stop was half a block away, or a short walk through the parkland’s that they had both agreed was too dangerous for women to walk alone, especially at night.

Casey’s heart started to race, “Jen!” she shouted. But there was no response. “Jen,” she called again. She ran up and down the street calling her name. There was no way she wouldn’t have heard her calls and no way she could have been so far out of sight within such a small time frame. It was the middle of the night and buses at that hour were few and far between, she must have cut through the park, she thought. ‘Fuck!’ She raced back to her apartment for a torch and her weapon, preparing to cut through as well. She took a quick glance out her window that looked out across the park. The trees hid a lot of the paths and many of the lights were out because of vandals and low lives that used the park for their own illegal practices. ‘Jesus Jen, please be safe.’ She prayed before chasing after her.

She looked at her phone. It was now 2:53 am, Jen left a little over a half an hour ago. Casey took a deep breath as she took her first steps into the dark shady park. She was a cop, and a brave one at that, but she was far from stupid enough to go in there thinking that her badge held any currency now.

She stepped slowly and stealthily, keeping her ears and eyes opened for any sound or movement. It was surprisingly quiet, though she felt eyes looming through the trees watching her every move. All she could hear was her own pulse in her ears and her breathing as it got shallower the deeper she got in the centre of the green forest like surroundings. It suddenly opened into a bare area. Again eerily quiet for that time of night, even given the cold shitty weather. Casey crossed the bare field quickly, noticing something shiny on the ground under the moonlight. She shone her torch on it and bent down to pick it up. It was a chain from Jen's n
eck. She pulled the phone from her pocket and called for backup.

“Casey? Do you know what time it is? Is everything alright?” a voice from the receiver came through louder than Casey had anticipated.

“Shhhh yes Ray, I’m sorry, but I need a favour, Jen's gone missing in the park across from my place, can you get here ASAP bring a patrol car and back up if you can? I’ve found her necklace on the ground, Ray something’s not right,” she told him.

“What the fuck are you doing in the park? Get out of there, I’m on my way.” He told her as he leapt from his bed, stirring the woman beside him just slightly. He kissed her on the head, “help yourself to coffee and breakfast, let yourself out, and remember, I’m a cop so if anything is missing I will find you.”

Casey knew he was right and she should stay put and wait for back up, but Jen was here and she was only here because Casey had thrown her out in the middle of the night. She had to find her, she had to make sure Jen was safe. She prepared to cross the open field and enter the greenery on the other side that headed toward the bus stop opposite the park.

Something was telling her to go back toward the left of the park, but there was no lighting there. Minutes later she heard sirens pulling up on the outskirts surrounding the park. She ran to greet them, holding her badge up in front of her.

“Detective Marks, I’m officer Dwyer, this is my partner Bateson and officers, Kelly and Jameson. We’ve been told to remain here until Lieutenant Powell arrives on scene, assuming you were in the park, but since you’re here, I guess it’s your call. What are your orders ma’am?”

Her phone rang as she was about to respond, it was Ray. “What’s your E.T.A?” she asked

“Three minutes, are the patrols there?”

“Yes, how did you get them here so fast?” she asked.

“I called in a few favours.” She heard a car screeching down the neighbouring streets, and instinctively knew it was Ray racing toward them. He slammed his car in park and ran over to Casey, she gave a brief run down on the events that led up to Jen's disappearance. And the six of them split into pairs and began to sweep the area.

Casey explained to Ray that her instincts led her to the left of the field, so they headed in that direction first, Ray knew better than to question her instincts as she was well renowned for them. The group stayed close to each other, not wanting to risk anymore lives. Suddenly a whistle blew and one of the officers called out, “Lieutenant Powell I’ve got something!”

They all headed over toward where officer Dwyer had called from, she was exiting an old drain pipe, that drug users normally slept in, she shook her head at Ray indicating the find wasn’t good. Ray entered the pipe, with his torch to see blood splattered up the walls of the cement tube that had approximately an eight foot diameter.

Crumpled further inside were the remains of what was left of Jen. She had been savagely attacked, her skin was pale and her veins had for some reason surfaced. It looked as though something had bitten into her flesh in some sort of satanic feeding frenzy. He walked out and gave the orders to, “Call it in.” he felt sick. He’d seen a lot of things in his short career, but the past few weeks were really taking their toll on him, he’s started swallowing antacids, to keep the bile at bay, the sight of Jen's ruined body just made soup of his already erupting ulcers.

Casey brushed passed him to see for herself but was stopped by Dwyer and Bateson. “Ma’am, you don’t wanna see what’s in there.” Dwyer told her. She was a lot taller and heavier than Casey, so when Casey attempted to break the mini barricade Dwyer had little trouble restraining her.

Ray grabbed her elbow, “Casey, don’t.”

“I have to Ray, it’s my fault.”

“Then we’ll go in together.” He nodded to Dwyer to let them pass, and Ray escorted her into the bloody ruin.

The others could hear her painful cries outside; they all bowed their heads in respect, Ray held her tightly in his arms, he knew she was a woman of few tears, so when they did escape her eyes, it meant she was hurting and hurting hard.

  Chapter Eleven

Casey filed her report, and headed over to the general. She needed to see her captain, the last person on earth that meant anything to her now.

He had already been filled in on Jen's murder, and was expecting her. She entered his room and he met her gaze, opened his arms and she ran into them. The old dark nurse was standing by the bed taking his observations, she knew the situation was totally inappropriate, but she could clearly see the bond between them and withdrew her presence closing the curtain around them, giving them some privacy to grieve and comfort.

Once her tears had dried up, she sat up.

“Get him Casey, get that motherfucker off our streets. I don’t care how, but whatever you have to do, do it. I’ll worry about the paper trail from my end, but I want this cocksucker dead.” She knew exactly what he meant, she simply nodded her head collected herself and turned to leave, “And Case?” she looked back over her shoulder, “Keep it simple, clean and between us.” He issued his final words of advice before the nurse re-entered the curtain, with a stern look on her face. “What?” he asked portraying innocence.

“I don’t know what you’re up to and I don’t want to know, but don’t you be getting that child a bed right here on my floor. I got enough bed pans to worry about.” She said with a tone of concern in her voice.

“Case? Naw, that girl can take care of herself. Don’t you worry your pretty little head about that.” he told her.

She smiled at the big man lying in the bed before her, his face desperately trying to hide his concern. “Are you trying to convince me, or yourself?” she asked as she continued with her duties

Ray returned to his small apartment, he did a quick sweep to find the girl from the night before had left, the place was clean and the bed was made. Nothing seemed out of order. Nothing was missing, but for some reason he couldn’t remember her name, in fact he barely remembered what she even looked like. His neck felt stiff and his muscles were tight, but given the events of the past few hours, that was understandable.

He went to his first aid drawer for some pain relief, as he turned to get a glass of water, he noticed a small bottle of pills on the counter with a note under it.

  ‘Hey Hot Shot,

You need to take some vitamins to keep up’

  :)

There was a smiley face caption on the bottom of the page and a number. He spoke out loud, “Hot Shot? Now, that rings a bell.” ‘Did she spike my drink at the bar? For the love of Christ what was her fucking name?’ he remembered going to the bar for a drink before heading home, he noticed the girl sitting alone at the end of the bar.

He remembered buying her a drink, then nothing, a few flashes of some crazy scenes that he’d love to revisit one day, but otherwise nothing, until the call from Casey. His neck had been stiff ever since. Muscular more than anything, but he couldn’t remember what he may have done to cause the incredible stiffness he was experiencing.

He decided to call on Casey to see how she was travelling. “Hey, where are you? And are you okay?”

“Yeah, I’m heading home for some sleep. Ray did you happen to notice how quiet the park was last night?’ she asked. “Like there wasn’t a soul in site. No junkies, no derelicts no witnesses, nobody. Last night would have been a perfect night for the drug lords to set up a shooting gallery; I’ve never known that park to be empty at night. Where do you suppose everybody was?”

“Casey, you’re tired, get some sleep, but for what it’s worth, my guess is they were doing a number on Jen, before they fled.”

“I don’t know Ray; too many similarities between the injuries at the brothel, the young couple a couple of blocks from me and the slaughter at the warehouse. I’m going over to check it out again. If Wes Moresby has anything to do with any of this, I want to take the bastard down myself.”

“Go home and get some sleep Casey, I’ll come with you. If there’s a connection we’ll fi
nd it, but you can’t go alone it’s too dangerous, this guys a fucking animal.”

Casey knew he was right, besides if they were going to keep things under wraps she needed to be on full alert and she needed to fill Ray in properly about her meeting with the Captain. She was becoming too exhausted to think straight, too emotional to make clear decisions, and she desperately needed sleep. “Okay Ray, it’s a little after noon now, let’s meet at the station at saaay sevenish?” she wanted to use the conference room, and have access to all the files.

“Done, now go home, I’ll see you at seven.” Then the phone went dead.

Casey entered her apartment and headed straight for the kettle. She noticed the keys that Jen had thrown on the counter, she picked them up and held them to her lips, a tear escaped and she hurled them against the opposite wall. She balled herself up in the corner of the kitchen and sobbed until she ran dry again.

She dragged herself to her room and threw herself on the mattress, the bed was still crumpled from their love making the night before, she could still smell her, still feel her essence. She wrapped herself tightly in the sheets, inhaled deeply and allowed herself to drift into the abyss of slumber.

  Chapter Twelve

Casey woke earlier than expected; she showered and headed to the station. She wanted to get an early start.

She entered the conference room to find Ray was already there, and he wasn’t alone.

“Detective Aspley, it’s good to see you again. But what are you doing here?” Casey thought she’d seen the last of him.

“Well unless I’m mistaken, I haven’t been relieved of this case. I’ve had my normal psych evaluation after losing a partner in the line of duty and been cleared to return to duty myself. So here I am.”
