"You... a gigolo..." Wade said between chortles.
Cayden narrowed her eyes. "Alright. Start explaining." She folded her arms across her chest and tapped her foot.
"Oh, I told him what happened today. Cayd, listen, I've been thinking..."
"Dangerous Jo, what did I tell you..."
"Hardy har. No really, maybe Brooke told him that something was going on as an excuse to leave him."
Cayden thought about it as she sat down on the couch. "Maybe, but why me? Why did she specifically name me? She could have made anyone up out of the blue. I don't need that shit."
"No, but maybe she wants something between you two and it was the only thing she could think of."
"Still Jo, am I supposed to be flattered? And what's this gigolo stuff?"
"Well he did walk in at a most inopportune time, and he already thinks you're doing his girlfriend."
Cayden smirked. "Yeah, that is kinda funny."
Wade's cell phone rang and he jumped. "I gotta go. Cayden you will be giving me details later."
"Yeah yeah... and remember, no pit stains!" she yelled after him as he shut the door.
"So, how pissed are you at Brooke?" Jodie wondered.
"Pretty pissed. Him, I can understand, but her? I still don't get it. Why me?"
"She wants you, Cayd. You already know that, you just don't want to admit it. Plain and simple, she wants you and needed an excuse. I bet she didn't even know that she liked women until you."
"Jodie, now you're just making things up."
"The poor girl." Jodie said sadly.
"What poor girl?" Cayden asked in disbelief. "Brooke?"
"Think about it Cayd. If she needed an excuse, imagine how awful her relationship must be. What must be going on in her life, what's happening now that he knows her secret."
Cayden's mood darkened. "Jo, you don't think he's hurting her physically do you?"
"Who knows. You saw how angry he was at you... imagine how he's making her life right now."
"Aw crap Jo! I wanted to be mad at her, and now I feel bad for her."
"Anytime, Cayd."
Cayden shot her a look. "What are you doing here anyway?"
"I can't stay, I gotta go. I just wanted to tell you what I thought."
"Yeah, you just didn't want me to be mad at Brooke."
"No, it doesn't pay. Oh and also, you said you were going to do something with Denise tonight."
"I did?"
"Yes, so get on the phone and make plans before she eats dinner."
Cayden watched Jodie leave and thought about doing something with Denise. She frowned and cursed under her breath. Alright Cayd, it's your call. Yes, or no. Do you want it bad enough to do the mating dance? She pictured Denise in her mind and pursed her lips. She thought about her voice, her clothes, her body, and still nothing. She recalled the kissing and her stomach got butterflies. Well, it's not about Denise at all is it. It's all about sex. Denise is in it for the long haul, I'm not. Although, she really wants me. I bet I could convince her. What am I saying? Jesus, I'm not like that. I can't do that. If I'm going to make that kind of effort, what I need is someone who makes my knees go weak, and my mouth dry. Cayden chuckled dryly. "Good luck. No one's done that to you in a long time." She grimaced guiltily. "Well that's not entirely true is it." she closed her eyes and scrubbed her hands over her face. You'd be lying to yourself if you didn't admit it. "Goddamned Brooke."
PART 8
B ROOKE ROLLED OVER onto her side to bask in the afterglow of another Cayden induced orgasm, when Grant slammed the front door. Brooke jumped off the bed and tried to reach the bathroom before he got too close, but he met her at the doorway.
"Hello, Brooke." He said coldly, his jaw clenching visibly.
"Uh, hi?" she said questioningly, moving back towards the bed.
"Did you have a good nap?" He asked, still emotionless.
Brooke nodded and looked at him oddly. "Are you still mad about the tighty whities?"
Grant stuck out his chin. "Do you have anything to tell me, Brooke?"
She reddened immediately, thinking maybe Grant had seen what she had been doing, or heard who's name she breathed. She looked at him guiltily and shrugged.
"Are you sure you're not seeing anyone else?" He asked, narrowing his eyes.
Somewhat relieved by his question, but still annoyed that he asked, Brooke blew out a loud breath. "I told you there was nobody else, didn't you believe me?"
Grant didn't answer, he just stared at her with accusation in his eyes.
Brooke swallowed hard. Oh my god... maybe he did catch me.. what do I do? Putting on a bored expression, the blonde walked past him and sighed. "Fine. Don't believe me, but I never lied to you." Once in the bathroom, she sat on the toilet and panicked. This is crazy! We have to talk. I can't do this any more. If I didn't want him already, I want him even less now. How dare he accuse me of having an affair! She stood up and stripped off her underwear, only now realizing she stood there in nothing but her panties through the whole conversation. See? He didn't even look down once. He doesn't think I'm sexy. He didn't even care that I was naked. Cayden... now she looked at me the way I want to be looked at... and I wasn't even naked.

The night was strained and difficult between Grant and Brooke. He took his dinner into the living room, leaving Brooke in the kitchen. She ate alone and then went to the bedroom to watch some television. After a while of staring at the screen with disinterest, she put on her rollerblades and left.
Only when the door closed did Grant realize Brooke left, and in his current mood, he decided to follow her. Unfortunately for him, Brooke skated to the park, and he lost her once she got inside. Cursing and bitching, he drove off towards his parents house and spent the night there.
Brooke knew Grant was following her and it took every ounce of self control she had not to turn around and give him hell. She decided to allow him the opportunity to follow her all the way to the park. She even skated slowly, and conveniently up streets he could easily navigate. Once she got to the park though, she purposely took off quickly, losing him immediately. She was angry that he felt the need to trail her, but she was also feeling smug that there was nothing for him to see.
After she effectively tired herself out, she skated on her way home, deciding to pass by The Fuzzy Belly Deli. Once she got there however, she couldn't bring herself to go inside. Her heart beat sped up and her mouth went dry as she approached the door, making her rethink her actions. Blushing deeply at what she was recently doing with Cayden's image, she peeked through the window. Her belly tingled when she saw the tall woman walking around, evening out items on the shelves. Brooke's gaze traveled up Cayden's body, the tingles turned to flutters in response to what she saw. She's so hot... Green eyes watched with interest as the tall woman went to the back of the store and disappeared briefly. Suddenly, Cayden was jogging towards the front door and Brooke quickly slid into the store adjacent to The Fuzzy Belly Deli, her heart beating wildly. She stood in he doorway and watched secretly as Cayden pulled down the gates, focusing on the muscles in the shop keeper's shoulders as they flexed. Brooke wanted to moan with the beauty of it all as Cayden squatted down in her shorts to put on the locks. It should be illegal to be so gorgeous. After watching Cayden walk away and turn the corner, Brooke began to breathe again. With a big happy sigh, she skated home, a huge smile on her face from seeing Cayden in the flesh again.

Cayden futzed around the house trying to avoid calling Denise, until Jodie called to see if she had. With Jo's scolding, Cayden called and cancelled any plans she made for a date with Denise. The tall shop keeper knew she was out of her league from the very beginning. One night stands weren't her thing and Denise was a really nice person. Denise liked her a lot and Cayden couldn't justify hurting her for an orgasm, no matter how horny she was. Cayden wasn't in the market for a relationship. She had no desire to make the effort required. She had nothing but bad luck
when it came to women and she always said she'd wind up alone. She really didn't mind that though, it actually sounded pretty good to her now that she thought about it. However, after getting a small taste, she wanted sex. Hell, she craved sex now and if she was going to be alone, there would be no sex.
The tall brunette scowled as she crawled into bed. Ok, so, I want sex, with someone else thank you, but I want to be alone. So... how the hell do I achieve that? Can't have my cake and eat it too. Now what? She turned on the television and began to watch a show about decorating. After a while, she realized that it was a repeat and pouted, but continued to watch anyway. Every so often her mind wandered to Denise, or Brooke's boyfriend and she had to shake her head to rid the thoughts. She wanted to vegetate and watch television like she did every Saturday night, repeats be damned. She didn't want to think at all, especially about Brooke's boyfriend, because that led to thoughts of Brooke and that wasn't a good thing. Eventually Wade came home from his date and she sighed heavily, knowing she'd have to rehash the entire day anyway.

"So, you're telling me she climbed up on your lap?" Wade poured them both a cup of coffee and handed one to Cayden.
"Yeah, then insisted I kiss her." Cayden added.
"Hmmm, and you did... just like that?" Wade still wasn't believing what he was hearing.
"Just like that." Cayden confirmed.
"Right there in the store, in front of Jodie?"
"Yes, Wade. In front of God and everyone I kissed a girl. Oooo call the authorities."
"Don't be snippy, it doesn't become you. So, then you cancelled the date you had with her tonight?" He asked in confusion.
"Yeah. Wade, I can't do that. I mean, the kissing was great, but that's all that was great. It's been so long since I held a woman in my arms and I liked it, REALLY liked it, but I can't just use her. You guys are right, it's not me." She admitted sadly.
"Aw honey, don't you worry, you'll find someone. I promise." he consoled her,
"I don't know that I really want to find someone. I love my independence. I love sitting alone in my room, I love not having anyone to answer to. I just don't know that I'm cut out for a relationship. Maybe I should start going out with Jo and pick up the floozies she meets. Meaningless sex isn't so bad with someone who is willing."
Wade looked thoughtful. "You know, as crazy as it sounds, you have a point. You really are happy when you're alone with your solitude, and one night quickies are attainable, just look at Jo. I suppose if that's what you really want, you can have it your way."
Cayden sighed. "Yeah, but do you think I'll be satisfied? I mean in the long run. Maybe I want to be alone now, but what about when I'm old, maybe I'll regret it."
"Where is that coming from, Cayd? I've never heard you talk like that before."
"Oh, I don't know. Maybe I watch too much television. I guess I'm just being stupid." Cayden dismissed it with a wave of her hand and finished her coffee.
Wade watched her with concern and furrowed his brows. "You're not being stupid. A lot happened to you in the last few days. Denise ... Brooke..."
"Please don't mention Brooke."
"Honey, I think she turned your head in a big way."
Cayden frowned and left to put her mug in the sink. Wade followed her so she felt the need to respond. "I don't know."
"Yes she did. Something happened after you met her. It's making you think."
Wade tailed her as she went to her room. "I don't want to talk about it." Cayden said tersely.
"No, you'd rather sit in your room and pout about it all alone. I don't bite Cayd. You know you can always talk to me."
Cayden smiled sincerely, but briefly. "I know. I just don’t want to talk about Brooke. She confuses me, she makes me confused about myself. I'm not comfortable with it."
"No one would be. Honey, usually when we meet the one that makes us question ourselves, its deep."
Cayden raised both eyebrows. "What do you mean deep?" she asked nervously.
"I mean they're usually the one." he said sympathetically.
"No way!" she protested. "Uh uh. I refuse to believe that that troublemaking straight girl is my other half."
"She don't have to be your wife, Cayd, but she may be important to you. Maybe you oughta talk to her about what happened."
"Nope. I'd rather not thank you." The tall woman shook her head adamantly.
"Ok, it's your call. I'm beat babe, gotta get some sleep. It's all about the thong sale tomorrow. I hate those one day only sales. Hordes of fat, sweaty women picking through and breathing all over underwear that's three sizes too small for them." He shuddered dramatically. "Hey, maybe you want a few thongs?"
"Get the hell out of here, I can't walk around all day with a perpetual wedgie. I'd go crazy." Cayden snorted.
"Better than running around commando if you ask me. What if you get in an accident?"
"The paramedics will all stand in awe of the spectacular shave job." Cayden smirked, "Now go! Get some sleep!" She ordered.
"Love you too, sweetie."
* * *
Cayden woke early, her eyes wide open. She sat up in bed and looked around in confusion. Finally aware that it was all a dream, she flopped back down into her pillows with a groan. "Oh no.. it can't be..." She muttered to herself. "It was so real." She closed her eyes and images of the dream flashed in her mind. "Shit" she cursed as Brooke appeared on her lap in Denise's place. Brooke's dream kisses did more to her libido that Denise's real ones and Cayden squeezed her legs together and took a shaky breath.
"Upsy Daisy Sweetie pie!" Wade called through the door.
"It's Sunday, you fool." Cayden growled.
The door opened and a mug of coffee appeared. "Ooo... drink me... I know you want me... mmm.. so good... so hot and steamy..."
"Quit it. Just bring that bad boy over here." Cayden sat up and propped herself against the wall.
Wade came into the room, "Oh look, that queen has allowed us entry." He said snootily to the cat.
Cayden grimaced as La La jumped onto the bed with a grunt. "Wade, La La's too fat."
"No, he's just big boned." He grinned widely, handing her the mug.
La La blinked rapidly at her and she narrowed her eyes. "Don't look at me like that. Wade, he's hungry, feed him, I'm afraid."
"Big Sissy. How'd you sleep?" He asked sitting down on the bed.
"Pretty good, until this morning. Had a dream." she said then took a sip of coffee and purred.
"A dirty dream?" he asked wiggling an eyebrow.
Cayden shrugged and drank more coffee.
"Oh cool!" Wade bounced up and down on the bed.
Cayden thrust her hand out holding the mug of coffee at arms length. La La watched with great interest should anything happen to spill. "Hey! Cut that out or you'll waste caffeine!" She reprimanded her enthusiastic roommate.
"Who! Tell me, tell me, tell me!"
"I never admitted to it." Cayden muttered guiltily.
"Denise?"
The brunette shrugged noncommittally.
"Brooke?"
Cayden fought the urge to blush.
"Brooke!! Oh my! Was it juicy? Were you naked?"
"Wade! We were just kissing. Jesus..."
Wade looked disappointed. "That was it?"
"Sorry buddy... that's it." She snickered.
"Crap."
Cayden laughed as he pouted his way out of the room. "Hey, the beast please!" she yelled trying to shove the cat off the bed with her foot.
"La La, come see daddy."
"Yeah, go see daddy, he's got bacon in there I smell it."
The fat cat jumped off the bed with an oof.

Brooke woke up Sunday morning alone in the bed. The dreams were commonplace now and she expected them every night. Instead of questioning them, she welcomed them. She washed her warm face with cold water and closed her eyes to savor the last bits of her dream as it faded. Padding around the house, she found it
empty and couldn't find a note or a message on the machine from Grant. "Figures. He probably wants to make me nervous as to his where abouts now." Not really caring and still a little sore about him following her the previous night, she rolled her eyes at his briefcase as she passed it on the way to the kitchen.
While waiting for the coffee to brew she sat at the table and closed her eyes, trying to recall her dream. It seemed every time Cayden was about to taste her she woke up. "I'll never know what that feels like." She said with a pout. "Then again, how can I feel it in my dream if I never felt in real life." She sighed. "I can't very well make it up, but I sure can imagine what it may feel like." she said dreamily. "OKAY!" she stood up and stretched. "No more thinking those things. How will you face your mother with that on your mind?"
* * *
Ever since Brooke got to her parent's house, her mother had been looking at her sideways. She wasn't behaving any differently, still trying to stuff her with food, but there was something on her mind and Brooke was almost afraid to ask. If her father had been there, he'd have come right out with whatever it was, but he was over at Gramma Millie's. Now, after a big lunch, and with Fred on her lap, Brooke was sitting on the plastic covered sofa eyeing her mother suspiciously as she sat down with a cup of tea.
"So, Brooke..." the older woman started, "Anything new?"
Brooke raised an eyebrow. "New? Like what?" She asked, carefully.
"Oh, I don't know. Talk to me."
"I already told you that I'm sleeping much better now."
"But on the couch, I hear." Harriet Hewitt said out of the side of her mouth.
Brooke colored. "You hear. Just where do you hear from?"
The older Hewitt shrugged. "Never you mind. How are things, Brooke? Is everything alright with Grant?"
"Not really." Brooke sighed. "Talk to me, Honey, what's going on?" Her mother moved to sit beside her and held her hand.
"I'm just not happy. Things are different now."
"What brought this on? Is he treating you any differently?"
