Her Last Breath Page 26

by Hilary Davidson

There are so many friends I want to thank, especially Stephanie Craig, Helen Lovekin, Ilana Rubel, Trish Snyder, Kathleen Dore, Deena Waisberg, Ghen Laraya Long, and Beth Russell Connelly. You guys know where the bodies are buried.

Rest in peace, Mark DeWayne Combs; you will be very much missed.

Pandemic life canceled my last book tour and made conference attendance impossible, but it’s also opened up a world of possibilities via virtual events and podcasts. I’m so grateful to Jane Kulow of the Virginia Festival of the Book, Carrie Robb at the St. Louis County Library, Barbara Peters and Patrick Millikin of Scottdale’s Poisoned Pen, Pam Stack of Authors on the Air, and the wonderful crew at Queens’s own Kew & Willow Books. Thank you all, and I owe you drinks when I see you next. (I should add that I can’t wait to visit my usual haunts—Toronto’s Ben McNally Books, Houston’s Murder by the Book, Denver’s Tattered Cover—as soon as possible.)

Last, but certainly not least, I owe many thanks to my family, especially my parents, John and Sheila Davidson (that’s doubly true for my mom, who reads all my books early and gives me feedback; my dad is forced to wait, since he can’t keep a secret). My aunts—Amy, Evelyn, and Irene—are the world’s best cheering squad. Most of all, thank you to my amazing husband, Daniel, for his endless encouragement and support; no one gets to hear all my crazy ideas like he does. I couldn’t do this without you, my love!
