“This is truly an amazing discovery Dennis!”
As Lucas spoke he smiled and placed his hand on Dennis’s shoulder. Dennis walked over to the floating object and around to the other side and stopped it from traveling any further. He then slowly guided it towards a large platform lying on the floor twenty feet away. He placed it onto the platform and pushed a button on a small LED display. A large LED display above the platform turned on and two zero’s began flashing on the screen.
“It’s a scale,” Dennis said, referring to the platform as he pulled one of the powder vials out of the stone and suddenly the digits began to climb. The numbers continued to climb as he removed them one by one and set them on the table. When the last one was pulled out the scaled settled on 1899 pounds.
“I’ve seen those hole patterns before,” Frank blurted out as he walked over and bent closer to the large block of smooth gray stone. He became exited and it came through in his words as he spoke. “Yes, yes! In some of the blocks of the largest megaliths, like King Solomon’s Temple and the Ghiza Plateau in Egypt. I’ve seen similar patterns in some of the largest blocks, which could weigh more than one hundred tons. They had similar holes drilled into them in similar places. Did you drill these?
“Yes, we did. We had the same thought and we found the pattern and directions for drilling these holes on glyphs, down below. We didn’t realize what they were for until now,” Dennis replied as he walked back around to the other side of the table to face the group. “This explains so many things. Obviously it explains the construction of the great ancient structures and pyramids, or at least more than likely how the structures were assembled, which we have never been able to reasonably explain until now. It also may explain another unanswered question of how the enormous statues of Easter Island ended up where they are today. But also think of the other applications for a substance like this. With enough of this powder you could make a vehicle that would consume almost no energy other than to start and stop. We’re talking about the ability to defy gravity here. You could travel at incredible speeds with perfect safety because while inside the superconductor’s magnetic field nothing could harm you. With the right propellant you could travel a million miles an hour and it would seem as if you were just sitting still. And get this, on some of the glyphs we found down there, it appeared that whoever made this stuff, was also eating it.”
“Eating it?“ came John's voice, but they all had a puzzled look on their faces.
“Yes, or some formulation of this powder. The possibilities seem endless,” Dennis finished.
“Great work Dennis, I am astounded! Look, I don’t want to seem disinterested, this truly is amazing work, one of the biggest discoveries of all time I think, being able to explain how all the ancient structures were assembled, but I would like to show our guests what we found down below,” Lucas said as he gestured downward with his index finger and smiled.
“Oh, absolutely sir, of course, but I figured this would be something you wanted to see for yourself,” Dennis answered.
“You were absolutely right! Thank you, I do appreciate it. And maybe you will also get to name this new-found edible, floating powder of yours Dennis, wouldn’t that be fun?” Lucas asked.
Dennis smiled. “Right, I hadn’t thought if that!” he laughed.
“I’ll leave you to it then, come along everyone, that alone was worth the trip out here, but let me show you something else, the reason why I brought you here in the first place.“
They left the room and continued down the hallway. “What was that stuff?” asked Hosea
“Not really sure, as you can see we’re just now beginning to understand what it was used for.” responded Lucas. They went through a set of double doors and back outside into the night air. They were now standing twenty feet away from the edge of a giant hole in the earth. It looked as though it has been excavated. There was a large building to their left and Lucas led them to it. They were met at the door by more guards who immediately recognized Lucas and opened the doors for the group. Once inside everyone could see that they were in an elevator room. There was a large platform extending beyond the edge of the giant hole and Lucas waved at a man in the operator’s booth. The gentleman quickly came over to them.
“We’re going down” said Lucas
“All right sir,” the man said with a nob before heading back to the booth. Within minutes a large piece of the platform slid sideways and an enclosed elevator room rose from underneath.
“I hope none of you are afraid of heights” Lucas chuckled as he climbed the short flight of stairs to the platform and entered through the now open doors of the elevator car. The rest of the group followed him.
John took a quick look down over the platform rail before he went into the car. “Whoa,” he whispered. It made him feel a little woozy and he couldn’t tell how far down it went. There appeared to be lights at the bottom, but there was no way to tell how far away they were. John's stomach suddenly felt queasy and he hurried into the elevator.
The doors shut and the elevator car began to descend. There was a small window in the car and a miniature display on one wall that showed depth in feet, alongside a monitor where everyone could see the elevator operator working at a computer desk. His voice came over a speaker in the ceiling of the car. “Okay, nice and slow here, it’s going to be a few minutes to the bottom.”
“How deep are we going?” asked Frank.
“Almost half a mile, but we will change cars at five-hundred feet. That’s where it starts to get interesting. All of this we’re dropping though now we had to dig out so we could access the main tunnel and chamber. It took us three years to dig down far enough” ,Lucas explained. “And another year to figure out how we were going to send an exploration team to the bottom.”
“How did you find this place?” asked Frank
“Well, that’s a very interesting part of the puzzle. We were reviewing the aerial sonar geographic imagery, and it’s not what we could see, it turns out, it was what we couldn’t see. This place would simply not show up on our maps, it was like a void.”
Soon the light from the compound that was shining into the window faded away and the group could barely make out each others profiles in the dim light coming from the monitor. The depth read -350 feet and was dropping at about one foot per second. The car began to slow down at -475 and then suddenly stopped at -502 feet.
“There we are” said Lucas. “We’re through with the first drop.”
The doors opened and Lucas led them into a narrow hallway through solid rock. It was only one hundred feet long and opened up into a large cavern at the other end. There was a ledge that ran all the way around the opening with bright spotlights illuminating the area. Everyone was squinting as they adjusted to the bright lights in the cavern after being in the dim elevator car. They stopped at a large railing and noticed there was another large hole in the earth. This one was different. It was perfectly round, approximately fifty feet across and the solid rock walls were smooth as glass. Another elevator car was to their right hanging out over the edge of the large shaft. “We didn’t make this,” said Lucas “This is what we found down here, it definitely did not occur naturally, and for some reason any scanning device we threw at this area came up with nothing.
“How did you know it was here,” asked Frank
“ Well, at first, we thought maybe iron ferrite or a copper deposit was weakening our signal and stopping it from penetrating to this depth so we disregarded it in our initial searches. We eventually came back to this place and decided to find out what was causing the anomaly. We wanted to know what kind of material it was, as it was unique to this area and directly under Old Babylon. So we started digging.“
“What is it?” Frank spoke again.
“We’re not quite sure, exactly. We think it may have been the base of a much larger structure at one point that continued all the way above the surface. We found bits and pieces of stone and iron as we dug down through the
sand. That would lead us to believe there was much more here at one time.”
They stepped into the second elevator car that was identical to the first. The same operator was on the monitor and the depth still showed -502 feet.
“Are we all set for the next drop then?” asked the elevator operator.
Lucas pushed a small button next to the monitor. “Yes we’re all here and ready” The doors closed and they were once again dropping into the earth. They went several hundred feet in silence before Frank spoke again.
“Lucas, we are under ancient Babylon correct? What about the tower of Babel?”
Lucas looked at Frank in surprise and then smiled. “I should have had you on my staff years ago Frank. We came upon that notion just recently. Most ancient writings have some truth to them right? Most stories come from somewhere, so yes, we spent a lot of time researching that very thought. The question is, it was supposed to be a tower that stretched above ground. The writings say it was the tallest structure of its time and the people of that time were building a tower to reach the heavens.”
“Yes” Frank responded. The entire group was listening intently.
“Well then what was the purpose of a shaft that ran a half mile into the ground? That’s the question.” They had been in the car for twenty minutes now and it began to get warm.
The depth was at -1853 and continued to count down. Everyone seemed to silently ponder that thought as they continued deeper into the Earth. The car started to slow at -2300 and then finally came to a stop at exactly -2450. The elevator operator’s voice came over the speaker. “Everyone okay down there?”
Lucas pushed the button again. Yes, we’re here, safe and sound” The doors opened and a wave of heat immediately entered the elevator car.
“Wow, it’s hot down here,” said Hosea as he pulled a small cloth from his pocket and wiped his forehead.
John took Jenny’s hand and they exited the car. John looked up and could barely make out a tiny circle of light at the top of the shaft. There was not much room for them to walk around. The shaft had turned into more of a ring at the bottom, as there was a column directly in the center of the shaft. They could walk around the perimeter of the base with the smooth rock on both sides of them.
“What do you make of it?” Lucas asked the group. “You see this is a cylinder in the center of the shaft. It extends about fifty feet above us. Does it remind you of anything?”
“Not off the top of my head” responded Hosea
“How about a projectile inside a very long gun barrel?” Lucas suggested.
“Oh my god,” Frank suddenly blurted. “Are you saying that maybe this was some sort of launching mechanism?”
“I see, yes that could make sense” added Hosea. All they would need is a propellant of some sort and…” He trailed off as he touched the smooth stone with his fingers.
“Build a tower that could reach the heavens,” said Frank. “The tower of Babel? The story makes perfect sense now. They weren’t building an actual tower that would reach above the sky, that wouldn’t make sense would it? Even they would have realized that it would have been impossible. They could have simply climbed a mountain and would have achieved much higher altitudes with much less effort. Just because they lived a long time ago doesn’t mean they were naive or stupid enough to think they could build a structure that tall. No, I see now, they had come up with an idea to launch themselves into space. This is incredible“
“And who are they?” asked John. Lucas answered him.
“We don’t know. Did our ancestors create this using prior ancient technology that we don’t even know about today? That powder Dennis showed us, we found it all over the floor of this shaft. And who destroyed it and covered it all up? Was it another race that shared the technological information in the first place and didn’t think what we were doing with it was a good idea at the time? We just don’t know. For every answer we find, there are ten more new questions behind it, and it doesn’t end there”
Lucas continued as he walked part way around the outer wall of the shaft. He stopped and pushed on the wall and suddenly a doorway formed as a huge block of the rock slid and receded into the wall. The group quickly gathered around him and watched the block move inward until it stopped, revealing an entrance just inside and to their right. “It’s beautiful,” said Frank in awe as he admired the smooth polished walls just inside the opening. The walls were smooth as glass and inlaid with gold hieroglyphs from top to bottom. This truly is amazing. I bet the world has never seen anything like it.”
“Well I’ll tell you Frank, I have been in and out of these holes for almost thirty years and I’ve never seen anything like it.” Lucas’s voice had a slight squeak and everyone could tell how excited he was to share this with the group. They entered the opening and moved slowly down the tunnel. As they came around a bend the corridor opened up in to a large room, they continued on and the first room opened up into a massive cavern filled with scrolls, clay tablets, cylinder seals and ancient texts.” This is what I wanted to show you.” Lucas made his way towards the center of the expansive room. “These writings are seven thousand years old. Older than the ones that were found in Nineveh.” As they got closer to the center the walls and ceiling stretched away into darkness all around them. The only thing visible was the polished floor at their feet and the large pillar straight ahead. Frank stared closely at the tall smooth column. It was four feet in diameter and he noticed there were markings and glyphs covering the entire column all the way around and rising up over ten feet.
“Oh my,” Frank said as he looked at Lucas.
“What is it?”
“These markings, they’re…. they’re the same ones from the pyramid! It’s in the same language, with the help of the codex I can read this!” Frank was smiling from ear to ear as he pulled out his phone and displayed the picture of the play dough imprint from John’s house. He continued to peer across the column and up and down through the rows of markings as he spoke. “This is wonderful, just amazing!” Frank continued to glance back and forth from his phone to the column.
“What? What does it say?” Lucas begged with a look of such anticipation that John thought he may have seen drool escape his lip.
“Just a moment now. I have to find the beginning you see. I can’t start a book in the middle, won’t hardly make any sense at all?”
“It’s a book?” Lucas said excitedly “What does it say Frank, God damn it!” he continued with an anxious smile.
“Patience, patience, hmm…more of a story,” Frank continued as he stared at the column walking around it again and again. “Ah, here it is. It appears to be a history of sorts, a chronological story.”
“A story of what?” asked Lucas.
“The Earth. Yes, everything from its infancy. I can’t believe it? Oh my!” Frank said with a sudden shock as he stopped walking.
“I swear Frank if you don’t start reading out loud I’m going to die here,“ Lucas pleaded.
“Patience is a virtue… It says that whoever made this structure was from the heavens. It says they traveled here every… Anum….Anum… hmm, I remember that word. It means one full revolution of their planet around ours, so I guess in their terms, one year but that was…oh my Lucas, you were right. It says their planet comes here every 7200 of our years. It says they come in ships that sail the sky when the second sun rises,” explained Frank.
“What?” John said in a startled surprise. He was looking at what Frank was pointing at. There was a small picture of a round disc with gold inlay beams of light coming down. Below that another smaller disc with fewer and thinner gold inlay rays of light shining up over the horizon. “I've had dreams about this, about two suns, I’ve seen them. This is crazy, it’s like everything we have been doing over the last few days is somehow all connected…. connected.“ he repeated again out loud.
“What?” Jenny asked with a quizzical look.
“Remember the dreams I’ve been having and the
one with Jake? Remember I said he kept saying everything is connected, everything. What else does it say Frank?” John asked.
“It says that they were lifting their daily bread from the Earth to the heavens and needed help. It says new life was born in E-Den,’ Frank read.
They were all looking at the glyph Frank was pointing at. It contained what looked like the familiar DNA ladder picture of a double helix one would see in textbooks, although with less detail. Goodman was almost hysterical with excitement now, but it was Jenny who spoke.
“What does it mean? Our daily bread and what does E-Den mean? Do they mean the E-Den, like Eden?” she questioned.
“Exactly” Frank responded, “Eden is mentioned in several Ancient Sumerian texts, that’s where Judaism and Christianity got the word from and the story of the Garden of Eden. Except the Ancients put the accent on the second syllable, like e-Den. It was located at the mouth of the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers,” Frank continued as he excitedly walked around the pillar. “I think they were mining. On the pyramid they wrote about gold and ingesting it on a daily basis. I think they were mining gold. There’s more! There’s so much more.” Frank yelped excitedly as he continued around the pillar making everyone else feel dizzy with his circling. “Yes, yes, it says there was a rebellion and there was war and we were freed from our bondage of being slave miners. Oh, and here there is a story of being warned of a great disaster and great flood where life was spared. Wow, this correlates almost exactly with some other stories we have been told, only slightly different.” Frank looked up and winked at the group then quickly turned his focus back to the pillar. He was still beaming with the excitement of a child on Christmas morning. “Hmm, isn’t this fun? There’s so much more here than what I’m telling you, I’m giving you the highlights, but there’s so much detail. Marvelous! Someone has written the entire history of the Earth, and us in it, including how we came to be!”
Hosea ran his hand across several of the markings. “Frank, am I translating this right? These ones here are in Sumerian, but it doesn’t make any sense to me.”
