Reckoners - Those dwarfs charged with ensuing proper payment is levelled and paid for the grievances or other dwarfs. Each reckoner keeps a tally of deeds done and recompense made in his log or on stone tablets.
Rhun - Meaning “rune”, the symbols of the dwarfs that can be mundane or magical.
Ril - Brightly shining gold ore.
Rinn - A dwarf woman or king’s consort.
Runk - A massacre or overwhelming defeat.
Rhunki - Khazalid for “runesmith”.
Stone bread - Granite like victual that forms part of the staple diet of the dwarfs. Such is its hardness and robust texture that only dwarfs have the constitution to consume it. Not unlike eating rock, but will never spoil.
Skorong - A dwarf battle term referring to a small throng of twenty warriors.
Thindrongol - A hidden chamber where items of great value are kept, such as treasure or ale.
Time of Woes - Period in history when the Karaz Ankor was wracked by floods, earthquakes and eruptions devastating the dwarf realm so badly it would never recover.
Tromm - Meaning “beard”, but it is also a respectful greeting.
Trouser Legs Ritual - Ancient expulsion practice of the Engineers’ Guild, the details of which are shrouded in secretive mystery.
Ufdi - This is a term used to describe any dwarf who labours over preening their beard. A vain dwarf, one who is over concerned with appearance and likely cannot be trusted to fight.
Umgak - Meaning “crudely made” or of “shoddy craftsmanship”.
Unbaraki - Literally meaning “oathbreaker”. There is no greater insult that one dwarf can level against another and one not to be used lightly.
Underdeep - The lowest and oldest levels of a hold. Few dwarfs venture here as they are often dilapidated and inhabited by dangerous monsters.
Ungdrin - Also known as the Underway, the Ungdrin or Ungdrin Road is the massive network of subterranean tunnels wrought by the dwarfs in ages past to make travelling from one hold to another much easier and more expedient. As the ravages of orcs, goblins and skaven had taken their toll on the dwarf empire, much of the Ungdrin is in a state of disrepair or been made into the lair of monsters.
Urk - Orc or enemy. This word also translates as “coward” as all enemies of the dwarfs are considered as such.
Uzkul - Commonly meaning “death”, but can also be used to mean “bones”. Often used as a warning to chambers where there are known dangers.
Vala-Azrilungol - Ancient Khazalid name for Karak Eight Peaks, meaning “Queen of the Silver Depths”. It was once the greatest and most vaunted of all the holds of the dwarf empire, greater even than Karaz-a-Karak but fell after over a century of bitter warfare against skaven and greenskins.
Varag Kadrin - Mad Dog Pass, the route from the Worlds Edge Mountains to the Dark Lands and south of Karaz-a-Karak above Karag Dron.
Varn Drazh - Khazalid for “Black Water”, the great lakelike expanse in the Worlds Edge Mountains wedged between the hold of Zhufbar to the north and Karak Varn to the south-east. Formed from the melt waters of the surrounding mountains and situated within a vast crater, history maintains that a meteor struck the point at which the Black Water resides and as such it is a source of the valuable meteoric-iron known as gromril.
Wanaz - The opposite of an ufdi, a wanaz is a dwarf that has an unkempt beard and is known to be disreputable. An insult.
War of Vengeance - Period in history also referred to as the War of the Beard, when the dwarfs fought against the elves for dominion of the Old World. It was a devastating war in which none would truly emerge the victor, despite dwarfen boasts to the contrary.
Wattock - An insult meaning a down at heel or unsuccessful dwarf.
Wazzock - Foolish or gullible dwarfs, those who have been duped in matters of business, exchanging valuables for something of little or no worth, or who are easily parted from their gold in a doomed venture, are called wazzocks. Much like other dwarfish derogatory terms, this is regarded as an insult.
Wutroth - Also known as “ironbark” and “stone trunk”, this wood of dwarfen origin is incredibly rare and exceptionally strong but also very pliable.
Zaki - The zaki is the dwarf that has lost his mind and wanders the mountains. Many dwarf hermits are often described thusly, as are those guilders who deviate from the strictures of their guild (quite a common occurrence amongst journeyman engineers).
Zharrum - Literally meaning “fire drum”. Zharrum are metal spheres containing lamp oil or other combustibles and used like rudimentary bombs to spread fires quickly. In mining, they can be used on wooden supports to collapse tunnels.
