Cataclysmic Shift Page 18

Alain pulled him onto the bed. Luke landed on his belly, and Alain jumped onto his back. Sharp teeth scraped along his neck, and soft growling sounds vibrated through his back.

Still biting at Luke’s neck, Alain adjusted his body on Luke until his cock slipped between Luke’s buttcheeks, and he began to thrust. Oh man, that dick slid all the way forward until it bumped Luke’s balls and tickled his cock. What an amazing feeling. Slide over his hole, then, wham, sparks flew out of his balls into his spine and made him shiver.

  “Urrrr. Urrrr.”

God, he’d seen male cats mount females like this. Holding them, growling out their passion. “You’re one amazing creature.”

Alain released his teeth. Blood rushed to the spot and made Luke’s neck tingle. “I wanted to do this to you when I was Aloysius. I slept by you at night but wanted to mount you and stick my cat member inside.”

God, that might be impossible, but the thought turned him on like mad. “You want to fuck me, kitten?”

“I want to crawl inside you and live. I missed you so much.” Wham, wham. Alain thrust against Luke’s butt crack, and Luke’s cock lit up like a brush fire.

“Missed you too. Just shove it in my butthole if you want to. I need to fuck.” Or he was gonna come right here.

  “No, you fuck me, please.”

  “Hell yeah.”

Alain sprang back off Luke, rolled to the side, and started fumbling in the nightstand. He produced lube and condoms. “Witches do not get diseases, I’m told, but I do not know about this human body.”

  “We’ll both get tested, okay?”

Alain nodded, then held out his prizes. Luke grabbed the condoms, ripped a package with his teeth, and fit it on his straining rod.

Alain stared with a soft smile.

  “Like what you see?”

“Oh my, yes. Just dreaming of having it in my back door in seconds.”

“You like getting fucked, my kitten?”

“Yes. By you. Though I will enjoy being your top at some time.”

  “But not today?”

He shook his head, still staring at Luke’s cock as Luke stroked on some lube. “No. I love your member inside me too much.”

  “My pleasure. What position?”

Alain’s grin was saucy. “Kitty style.” He clambered onto his hands and knees and backed up to Luke’s waiting cock.

No finesse. He wanted in! Luke positioned his slicked cock at Alain’s adorable pucker and shoved. Like a hot knife through butter, baby.

  “Mwoooowwww.”

“Yeah. Yell, because I’m not stopping till we both spill all over this bed.” His hips hammered on their own, sending flashes of heat to his nerve endings.

“Oh gods, right there. That’s the spot.”

“Want to make you happy, my kitten.” He leaned over Alain’s smooth back and kissed his soft skin. “I thought I’d lost you. I didn’t care if I never fucked again.” Shit, that was true. Words tumbled out. “When I was screwing all those men for money, the idea of having someone so perfect and pure as you in my life was a fairy tale.” He gasped for breath. “But look. Everything about this is a fairy tale, and you’re my happy ever after. Just being with you for one more minute is the best thing I could ever imagine.”

Alain looked over his shoulder with tears in his eyes. He pulled off Luke’s cock and turned to face him.

Luke grinned. “That’s not exactly the result I was hoping for when I said that.”

Alain lay back, pulled his legs up on either side of his hips, and extended his arms to welcome Luke in.

Luke sighed and repositioned his cock. Oh, baby. He slid into Alain’s hot body as he leaned forward into his embrace. Face-to-face. Alain’s blue eyes glistened with tears. “That is the best thing anyone ever said to me. Most of my life I’ve lived for others. That has been my mission. But you’re my happiness. The gods have given you to me, and I cannot begin to show my gratitude.”

Luke pushed in and pulled out slowly. Every inch was a revelation. How many times had he fucked? Too many to count? No. Only the ones he shared with Alain counted. The others truly didn’t matter. A different man. A different lifetime. “I love you, Alain.”

“And I you.” Alain smiled, but tears dripped from his eyes. He’d given up so much.

I hope he doesn’t regret it.

Luke pressed his body hard against Alain’s cock and thrust into his beautiful ass again and again. Balls tightened. Cock swelled. Lights sparkled behind his closed eyelids. The universe exploded into a flash of brilliance as Alain cried out, “Luke, Luke.” And the rest of the world went away.

ALAIN LISTENED to the soft breathing of the man he loved. Wonder. Yes, that was the feeling. More powerful than seeing the sky at sunrise or hearing a great truth from the lips of a wise man. Who would have dreamed he would ever have love of this kind?

He sighed. He had love but not yet peace. His friends were unprotected. Killian wanted Alain to be happy, but how could he know joy in its fullness when those he valued were vulnerable? No, the world was not yet right. Not yet.

He pressed his lips against Luke’s shoulder and fell asleep.

  “OH MY God, it’s Alain!”

Alain turned in the clinic doorway just in time to be caught up in the huge, welcoming arms of Madeline. He laughed. “I am very happy to see you too.” His feet dangled in the air, and he was squashed against Madeline’s chest, which managed to be both soft and hard at the same time. He loved Madeline. Like him, she had changed her form.

She set him back on his feet. “Man, did we miss you. There are some dogs and cats back there carrying picket signs. Hell, Luke was so upset he was yelling at a cat.”

Alain smiled. “I missed you and everyone very much.” He looked around. A half-dozen people sat in the waiting room with their pets. A tabby cat. Hmm. Ingrown dewclaw. That dog was so old he might not survive without better food. He looked up at Madeline. “We have new patients.”

Luke walked up to them carrying some supplies they had brought from Luke’s garage for their animals in back. “We sure do.” He lowered his voice. “Who are all these people?”

She grinned. “Seems publicity isn’t all bad.”

“Wow. I better get to work. Come on, kitten.”

Alain smiled at all the people, then walked over to an older lady with a pretty papillon dog. “She is very particular about her food, I think.”

“Oh yes. How did you know? She’s been losing weight, and I’m worried.”

“I will bring you a recipe you can make for her that she will like.”

The woman shook her head. “I’ve tried so many things.”

He stroked the silky fur of the dancing dog and got a lick. “Guaranteed.”

  She smiled. “Oh, that’s lovely.”

He waved at all the people who smiled at him, then followed Luke into the back and went straight to the boarding room. When he opened the door, there was a moment’s silence. Then shitfire broke loose, as Luke would say. Barks and meeeows, and squeaks from the one guinea pig. He opened the first cage, and the big pit bull leaped on him and practically knocked him down between paws and tongue. As soon as he got his balance, a flying missile of fur sailed through the air and landed on his shoulder. Amelia almost overshot, and he grabbed her as her claws sank into his neck. Then she proceeded to purr and rub him until it was a wonder she still had fur left.

Finally, he opened all the cages and gave up trying to stand. He sat on the floor so all the animals could get to him. Some he’d never seen before, but they still wanted to be close. That was where Luke found him a few minutes later.

The door opened, and his beautiful love stood there. Luke laughed. “I think they’re happy to see you.” He knelt and extended a finger to Amelia. “Have you forgiven me, little bit?”

She gave him a lick. Alain smiled. “See? Told you.”

“She’d lick anybody she’s so happy to see you.”

  Interesting. Luke’s hair looked l
ighter. “Are you going back to your natural color?”

“Yeah. No use hiding anymore. Which reminds me, we need to call Ruben. He was pretty frantic when I spoke to him last.”

  “We should do that now.”

Luke pulled his phone from his jeans and dialed. “Hey, Ruben, it’s me.” He listened. “Yeah, I called because Alain is back. Yes, he’s right here.” He smiled. “Thanks. I’m pretty happy about it too. So how about I bring him over and—shitfire!” He glanced at Alain with a furrow between his brows. “I understand. Okay, what’s that date?” He nodded. “I’ll make sure he’s there. Thanks.” He clicked off, frowning.

  “Something bad?”

“Yeah, kind of. Nicky was arraigned. I guess they have to do it within a certain time. Pleaded not guilty, the asshole. Anyway, his bail was set at a half million, and he’s out. We’ve got a couple of weeks before you have to appear.”

“So he is free to commit more crimes?”

“Yep. I can’t imagine he’ll come after us since the world knows we helped get him arrested.”

  “I don’t believe he’s extremely intelligent, however.”

“Nope. Dumb and vindictive. But shrewd enough to know what the world wants. We need to stay on guard. I don’t want you out of my sight. Promise?”

Alain gazed at Luke. “Yes. I promise.”

“Good. I better get back to work. Can you believe all the new people? How many of them are witches?”

“In the group outside, only one.”

“That’s wild. One man said he decided I must be really dedicated to have done what I, uh, did for my education. He wanted to show support.”

Alain grinned. “See? Humans aren’t so bad all the time.”

Luke cocked his head. “I know you’re joking, but thank you for showing me that truth. I haven’t always thought the best of my fellow humans.”

“You haven’t always seen the best of them.”

“It took an animal to prove how great people can be.”

Alain pointed around him. “Many animals.”

ONE MORE friggin’ customer. How many fucking people were going into that clinic today? Nicky leaned against the building. The block wall scraped the metal of the gun in the holster at the small of his back.

He couldn’t walk in there blasting. Too many witnesses. Even the alibi he had set up would crumble if all those people saw him shoot the motherfuckers. He could wait. Not long, but long enough.

  Chapter Seventeen

BLAINE RUSHED to the door of the apartment and pushed the buzzer for the downstairs entry. Twelve rings was excessive, even for witches! He opened the apartment door as Jimmy and Lavender came tumbling up the stairs.

  “What is it? What’s happened?”

Lavender caught her breath as Jimmy said, “They’re back. The females are here. They wasted no time.”

  “Shit! When will this end?”

“Is Killian here? We need to tell him.”

“No. He had a late class, but I expect him any minute. Come on in.”

They walked past him into the living room. Jimmy collapsed on the couch. Lavender gripped her hands. “Should we call Sammy and Ryder?”

Blaine frowned. “I don’t know. Without Al, Sammy can’t do much, and asking Ryder to get involved is complicated for him and his family.”

“Yes, but are the females likely to come after them?”

Jimmy shrugged. “They were spying on him at the college, and they saw them when they broke in to try and get Aloysius, but Sammy acted pretty human both times, so I doubt they guessed what a key role he played in our little transportation demonstration.”

Blaine ran a hand through his hair. “You’d have thought that demo would have at least slowed them down.”

Lavender drew her arched brows together. “Aloysius isn’t my familiar, and I wasn’t here when you fought them last.”

Jimmy grinned. “Go get ’em, tiger.”

Blaine nodded. “She has a point. She’s one who’s not factored in. We might also call on your dad, Jimmy. He’s pretty badass.”

“I doubt we’ll have time. They’re acting fast.”

The door opened, and Killian came in carrying his motorcycle helmet. The biker witch. Thank gods, as his baby would say. Blaine gave him a tight smile. “Hey, babes. We got trouble.”

Killian dropped the helmet, walked over, and kissed Blaine’s cheek. “I was afraid this might not be a social call.”

Lavender perched on the edge of a chair, but the usually relaxed witch was way tense. “They hightailed it back here so fast they left their own jet stream.”

Killian sat on the arm of the chair. “So where do you think they’ll strike?”

Jimmy frowned. Such a sweet guy but formidable in a fight. “We know what they’re after. Or rather who.”

  “Aloysius?”

“My guess is now they’re after Alain. They saw him change. They may not realize he was human before he became a cat. They may think he’s a natural form shifter or something. That’s got to make him pure catnip to those bitches. I mean, witches.”

Lavender frowned. “And when they find out he’s just a pretty human, they’ll try to get Aloysius back. Force him to change.”

Blaine’s heart beat too fast. “And maybe kill them both in the process.”

Killian’s eyes got wide. “Do you think they know how to find him?”

Blaine sighed and held up the two-days-old paper that had upset Luke. “I imagine witches know how to read.”

“Fuck. What are we waiting for?”

ALAIN SNUGGLED against Luke’s side and wiped a tear from his eye. “I love this movie so much.”

  “Mew.”

He scratched Amelia under her chin where she sat on the back of the couch staring at the TV. “Amelia likes it too.”

Luke kissed his hair. “What does Amelia like about it, exactly?”

  “She likes weddings.”

  “Oh, she does, does she?”

  “Shhh. I love this part.”

The hero on the screen took the heroine in his arms. “I know I have no right to ask, but will you marry me?” he pleaded.

  Alain sniffed.

“How many times have you seen this movie?”

  “Five.”

  “When?”

“Sometimes I watch it early in the morning before you get up.”

The music on the screen swelled.

“So is it Amelia who likes weddings, or is it Alain?”

Alain smiled up into that handsome sculpted face. Luke’s lighter hair made him even more beautiful. “Both, I guess.”

“And would you like to have a wedding of your own?”

He twisted his grin to the side. “Me and Amelia? I think the state of New York does not yet allow cats to marry.”

Luke attacked him and started tickling. “Not you and Amelia, you crazy cat. You and me.”

Alain fell on his back and kicked his feet as Luke dug his fingers into his ribs. “Oh, stop. I’ll do anything.”

  “Anything?” Luke laughed too.

A cold voice came from behind the couch. “Good question. Anything?”

Alain leaped to his feet as Luke twisted on the couch. Luke’s voice dropped an octave. “Hello, Nicky.” He glanced down at the handgun pointed straight at his chest. “I would have thought you’d have learned your lesson by now.” He stood beside Alain and tried to push him behind him.

Not going to happen. Alain knew who the protector was here. He stepped up next to Luke and stared with hatred at the open window to the fire escape he’d left ajar on his last trip out there with Amelia. Why was he always getting Luke in trouble?

Nicky waggled the gun. “The only lesson getting learned around here, asshole, will be coming to you. Get over here.”

Alain glanced at Amelia, still on the couch back. He pushed her onto the seat, away from Nicky’s line of sight. She stayed quiet. Smart kitten.

Luke grabbed Alain’s hand and walked them both arou
nd the couch. Nicky backed up a couple of paces, and they stood against the back of the couch.

Nicky looked slowly up and down both their bodies. Quite offensive, really. “Glad you’re getting your hair back, Luke. It always was your crowning glory, baby.” He smiled at Alain. “I forgot just how shitting pretty you are. I was going to kill you both, but I think I may just shoot Luke and take you with me. Even if I have to chain you to the bed, I know guys who’ll pay to fuck you.”

The words “shoot Luke, shoot Luke” pulsed through Alain’s body like blood. Heat warmed his chest. Nobody would shoot Luke while he was alive.

Luke sneered. He was so brave. “You don’t think Ruben will let you get away with this, do you? He’ll track you to hell if you kill us.”

“He’ll have to prove it first. Coincidence happens, right? Hell, I would have left you alive for old time’s sake until you brought the cops into it. Now I have to make you both disappear.”

Hmm. Technically it was Alain who had brought in the police, but it likely wouldn’t help their predicament to point it out.

Nicky leveled the gun at Luke. Alain stepped in front of him.

Nicky shrugged disgustedly. “Look, pretty face. I’d just as soon kill you too. You may be freaking gorgeous, but you’re a lot of trouble.”

Luke grabbed Alain’s shoulders and tried to move him aside, but he dug in. His heart beat fast—Luke, Luke, Luke—and felt too big for his body. “I’m more than trouble, Nicholas. I’m magic.”

“Yeah, well, I’ve heard that said about Luke’s blowjobs too, but that won’t keep him alive.”

“You don’t understand. I have magic powers.” Gods, he wished it was true right now.

Luke’s fingers squeezed his shoulders. If I can just give Luke an opening. A moment to distract Nicky. If he could keep him talking.

Nicky laughed with a bitter sound. “Oh, really, asshole? Well, then, let me see you make this gun disappear.”

The revolver flew into the air and bounced off the ceiling. Nicky recoiled. “Holy shit!”

The blonde female witch stepped through the window.
