The Witch Prophecy Page 57

As he reached the office, Caden was standing in the middle of the room fists clenched tightly and breathing hard as he growled, “That bastard.”

“He was good, I have to admit,” Gregory said as he ventured farther in the room on alert if Caden decided to shift.

Caden took a few deep breaths before he relaxed although his eyes were still narrowed and the blackness only emphasized how upset his wolf was.

“What should we do, Caden?” Gregory asked. “We know that Dave, and maybe Leana, had something to do with Jenna’s disappearance and possibly her death.”

“We need to talk with Dr. Olsen to learn the cause,” Caden told him staring at the wall hard. “Out of the fighter wolves, Gregory, pick the one you trust the most and tell him to come here.”

Caden knew all of his fighter wolves but Gregory worked with them every day so he knew who could be trusted and not swayed by Leana as he expected what Caden wanted.

When Javier walked in after knocking on the door, Caden relaxed fully giving him a nod as he said dryly, “Please tell me some good news like you want me to take Leana to the end of our territory and drop her off.”

Caden shook his head although Gregory laughed without restraint. “No, I want you to watch the pack while Gregory and I go over to the clinic,” Caden told him.

Javier’s face took a sober look. “Did you find Jenna?” He asked.

“We did,” Gregory said after getting the go-ahead from Caden to tell him, “but we would like to keep it amongst ourselves for right now.”

“Which means she was killed,” Javier said in a hard tone. “Do you know who did it?”

“We think we do, but no proof or motive,” Gregory told him running a hand through his hair.

“But I have a plan that may work in getting both,” Caden said as he turned to them. “I leave you in charge until we return, Javier.”

Javier nodded his head as Caden and Gregory headed out of the room before he said, “Alpha Caden, I know you may not want to hear this but I liked Abella more.”

Caden stilled for a second before he continued down without saying a word and Javier frowned sighing deeply as he looked around the office nodding his head once before following the two down locking the door behind them.

Caden and Gregory headed straight for the clinic where the others were and when they entered, Briac met them in the hallway a hard look on his face.

“Dr. Olsen knows what killed Jenna,” Briac told them.

Caden and Gregory looked at him waiting when Cato coming down the stairs told them, “It was a lethal injection of silver nitrate.”

Caden swore loudly as Timothy and the others came down the stairs.

“Who the hell would have something like that?” Gregory growled.

“That’s what we need to find out,” Caden said his voice deadly and everyone flinched from his tone.

“What do you want us to do?” Another voice said and Caden glanced up seeing Abella standing behind the others her hair tousled around her shoulders.

“Abella,” Gregory said in astonishment and she smiled at him briefly before turning her attention back to Caden.

“You have a plan,” Abella said staring at Caden. “I sensed it along with anger and distrust.”

Caden took the stairs two at a time as the others parted for him and he reached her with a frown. “You should still be in bed,” he told her.

Abella rolled her eyes as she said, “I’m fine, Caden.”

“She also out of the danger stage of pregnancy, Alpha,” Dr. Olsen revealed coming down behind them. “That I find amazing in itself.”

Abella gave him a smile before she turned and looked back at Caden. “So what is the plan? I know you make damn good plans.”

Caden grimaced at the tone as he turned to the others seeing their narrowed looks knowing that they were told the truth.

“They needed to know,” Jed said walking from the kitchen.

“I know,” Caden said with a sigh as he ran his hand through his hair. “It was for a good cause.”

“Tell us what you learned and maybe we will think so,” Timothy said folding his arms across his chest but there was laughter in his eyes.

“Well, for starters, three years ago when Leana left me she didn’t leave alone,” Caden informed them as he helped Abella down the stairs.

“What are you talking about Caden?” Gregory said as Jessa continued.

“No one else was missing from the pack at that time.”

“No one who was a member of our pack was,” Timothy said slowly as he started thinking about it.

Asilynn caught on next. “That’s right we had visitors at the time,” she stated her eyes turning to Jed.

Jessa looked over Jed and her eyes widened. “The council was here for the wedding and they arrived a few weeks before it because there was a discussion of a group of rogues plaguing a neighboring pack.”

“Yes, although we learned that it was nothing serious and the pack was able to take care of the problem without any help,” Caden informed them.

Many of the individuals had already figured out who Leana had left with at that time except for two, Abella and Natalee.

“I’m confused. Are you telling us that Leana left with a council member?” Natalee asked her brows lifted in a frown.

“A council member?” Abella asked thinking before a gasp left her mouth and her eyes widened. “Dave?”

Natalee gasped at the information seeing the confirmation in everyone’s faces even her own mate’s as he said, “I wasn’t part of the council protection at that time but I heard rumors about an Alpha’s mate being seduced by a council member. I just didn’t know that they were talking about Caden because many said that it was a rumor spread among the council members to create trouble.”

“I thought it was too until Dave was able to produce Leana so fast,” Jed told them with a weary sigh.

“So why did he seduce her anyway?” Abella asked looking at Caden.

“I don’t know,” Caden said his eyes hard in thought. “But I do believe I have a way to find out.”

“What is your plan?” Jed asked a light of anticipation in his eyes.

“I’m in,” Jessa, Abella, Natalee and Asilynn said together as everyone laughed.

Caden glanced over at the men he trusted most and he got a nod from each of them as Cato said, “Count me in to because I love a mystery.”

“I’m game also,” Dr. Olsen said rubbing his hands together. “Besides I want to learn why they killed Jenna.”

They all nodded their heads in agreement as Caden began to explain what he had in mind seeing how shock they were that he could be so cruel but at the same time understanding his motive behind his actions.

Thirty minutes later, Abella sat Indian-style in the middle of the living room with the furniture pushed to the wall as the others made themselves comfortable along them.

“Are you sure you’re strong enough to do this, Abella?” Jed asked a frown on his face.

“I don’t like this,” Caden said with a scowl. “Why don’t we scratch this idea and come up with a new one?”

Abella shook her head as she took in a few deep breaths. “No, we already discussed it and this is the best way to learn what is going on with Leana without actually following her.”

“I know but…” Caden began only to stop when Abella sighed wearily.

“After this, I may sleep for a week though,” she told him with a smile and he leaned down kissing the top of her head.

“As long as you wake up, you can sleep as long as you want,” Caden promised her.

Abella laughed up at him as she teased, “I may take you up on that.”

“On one condition though,” Caden said leaning down to whisper in her ear and everyone watched as Abella’s cheeks flushed at his words as he straightened back up.

“I guess I will have to wait for a few more days then,” she said with a wicked look at him and Caden groaned as he stepped back at Jed
’s urging.

“Now once she goes in please no sudden sounds or movements because we don’t want a repeat of what happened before,” Jed said sternly, and Caden glared at everyone daring them to even breathe loudly.

“Okay,” Jed said getting nods from everyone and turned back to Abella. “Go ahead, sweetie.”

Abella took a deep breath and closed her eyes as she laid her hands on her thighs and began the small chant thinking of Leana and no one else.

Suddenly she found herself in a room not Caden’s though as she looked around and she was stunned at which room she was in.

“She is in Jessa and Timothy’s room,” she said speaking out what she saw her voice distant and quiet. She frowned as she heard a giggle before two heads popped out from underneath the covers. “Actually they are in the bed and I see Leana but I can’t see the other one just yet…”

Jessa was shaking with rage and she was about to say something when Timothy caught her by the arm. As she realized what could’ve happened, she dug her nails in Timothy’s arm biting her lip waiting until she could let it go.

Abella shook her head as she said, “It is Dave and I am glad that I didn’t see anything else.”

The dry comment had everyone smiling because although she was in this state, Abella still maintained a sense of herself.

“Now they are talking,” Abella said her tone quieter as if she was listening to what they were saying. “Did Dave ever have a mate? He is talking about his mate but …” her gasped filled the room. “He told Leana that he killed his mate and her unborn baby as she couldn’t give him what he wanted. Leana laughed asking if the same was going to happen to her in which he replied…” she stopped briefly before she continued. “No because she was the mate to an Alpha of a strong pack and the child that she bares will gain that position even though the child wasn’t of Alpha blood.”

There was more silence and when Abella spoke again her voice vibrated with anger. “Dave says that once the marking ceremony is complete he will think of a plan for Caden to have a sudden accident so Leana can take over the pack with him as her guardian. Leana is laughing saying how glad she is that she didn’t expect anything else from him or she would’ve been disappointed and asks if she can sleep around. Dave tells her to go ahead as he has been doing the same thing.”

“She lied,” Abella revealed her tone softer. “Leana loves him but she knows that this is the only way to have him.”

There was more silence before Abella informed them, “Dave is worried about Jenna’s body not being in the shack and Leana wonders if she was found by the pack. Dave assures her that it wasn’t possible because the northern end didn’t belong to the pack and so it wouldn’t have been searched because of it. He is wondering if Jenna somehow was able to stagger out of the shack after he left her there but he doesn’t actually believe that knowing he gave her a good enough dose to kill her on the spot. He believes that somebody found her and moved her, and he plans on searching tomorrow as…” she stopped for a second here before she continued. “He knows that as long as Jenna’s body is missing Caden will put off the marking ceremony. As for the question Leana has to answer, he told her to make something up which Caden will buy.”

Jed could see the weariness pulling at Abella as she continued on but she didn’t break the trance. “They are leaving now, but first Dave sprays something in the air as Leana straightens the bed. I guess they are hiding their scents.”

They watched as Abella slowly brought herself out of the trance as her eyes fluttered open and she sagged where she sat. Caden moved fast sitting down on the floor beside her so she could lean against him.

“I hope that helps you,” Abella stated her grey eyes meeting his black ones as he nodded his head.

“Did Dave have a mate?” Jessa asked Jed her eyes hard with anger at what Abella revealed.

“I don’t know,” Jed answered but Cato was the one who answered it.

“He did, but she died in accident, or so it was believed, almost a year after he claimed her,” Cato told them his own eyes narrowed. “A few had believed it wasn’t an accident but there was no proof so it was deemed an accident.”

“She was human,” Abella informed them, and Cato nodded his head.

“Damn man,” Briac uttered his body still with anger as Natalee wrapped her arm around his waist her own eyes narrowed with anger and hatred.

“So that’s why they told us were the body was,” Gregory said his rough with emotion. “In order for the marking ceremony to go on, Jenna needs to be found as per Caden’s orders.”

“We need to act tomorrow morning then before Dave heads out because I don’t want to drag this on any longer,” Caden told them his tone unyielding.

“What about the baby?” Abella asked softly as everyone went silent. “Would the shock hurt the baby?”

“Abella,” Dr. Olsen said. “I will be there to make sure that nothing happens to Leana’s baby.”

Abella looked over at him and seeing the sincerity in his eyes she nodded her head and stated, “We start tomorrow morning then.”

  Chapter 58

Asilynn, Jessa and Natalee were in the kitchen the following morning when Leana walked in the room holding a hand to her mouth.

“Are you okay, Leana?” Natalee asked after sharing a look with the other women.

“Just feeling a little sick this morning,” Leana told them her eyes bright. “It happens you’re first few months of pregnancy as you should know, Jessa.”

“I do, so does Abella,” Jessa said going over to the refrigerator pulling out some juice.

Leana froze at her words as Asilynn said. “Yeah, we just learned that Abella is pregnant.”

“Of course, it isn’t Caden’s child,’ Leana said quickly as she glanced around the room. “I hope Caden realizes that she trying to trick him.”

Natalee shrugged her shoulders as Jessa said, “Caden doesn’t know about it. We only learned ourselves recently and we haven’t had time to tell him.”

“Don’t,” Leana said in a commanding voice. “It will only upset him and we don’t need him distracted at this time when he is trying to find Jenna.

“What if it’s his though?” Asilynn said thoughtfully as a few others came in the kitchen. “I think he would want to know.”

“The only thing he would want or need to know is that his mate is pregnant with his child,” Leana told them sharply before she excused herself and headed out of the room.

“Is it true that Abella is pregnant?” One member asked her eyes wide but there wasn’t a look of disdain in her eyes which shocked them.

“It’s true,” Natalee said leaning forward slightly before she whispered. “And it is Caden’s pup.”

The member nodded her head before she rushed out of the room her cry of, “Yes!” echoed back to them.

They laughed as Natalee said after her laughter died down, “They are going to be mad as hell.”

“I think Leana needs something to shake her up before the main performance,” Asilynn said quietly as Jessa nodded in agreement.

“It was my idea after all,” Jessa said scrunching her nose at them.

“You better hope that Caden doesn’t learn about it too soon,” Timothy said coming in the room with Briac, Gregory and Javier who had been brought in the plan by Caden.

“He won’t be happy because I think he wanted to keep it quiet from them at the moment,” Briac said.

“Oh, but that’s a good thing,” Jessa said with an impish look.

“According to what we told Leana,” Natalee continued sharing a look with Asilynn, “Caden doesn’t know anything about it and we only learned about her pregnancy recently.”

“Which she will check with Dr. Olsen if we are not mistaken,” Asilynn added.

The men looked at them in bewilderment before they shook their head and turned to leave the room. “Never, ever try to understand a woman’s logic,” Gregory said as they left. “I think it only leaves us more confuse
d than we want to be.”

“Hey,” all three women yelled out as the men left the room and they could hear the masculine laughter echoing down the hall.

Leana went through the house looking for Dr. Olsen as she remembered seeing him earlier when she came downstairs. She found him outside tending to a young werewolf who had been wounded in practice and she hurried over to him her high heels sinking in the ground as she walked over with a scowl.

“Dr. Olsen,” Leana called out as he straightened up from the werewolf a smile on his face as he chatted with him.

At his name being called, he glanced over and the smile stayed on his face but even the young man standing next to him noticed that it was a polite one and not the warm one he gave him.

“Alpha Female,” the man said bowing his head slightly before the turned to Dr. Olsen. “Thank you, doc.”

“No problem,” Dr. Olsen said giving him a pat on the shoulder as the man smiled and went back to practice.

“Is there something you wanted with me, Leana?” Dr. Olsen asked as he picked up his bag before glancing at her.

“Is it true that the witch is pregnant?” She asked her tone cold as she put her hands on her hips clicking her tongue.

“Why would you think that I would know anything about that?” Dr. Olsen asked raising his eyebrow while he wondered how she found out which she answered for him.

“Jessa and her posse told me that they learned Abella was pregnant, but they haven’t told Caden yet which I told them not to do,” Leana said tossing her hair over her shoulder. “I know that if she was pregnant then Jed who seems overly protected of her would come to you. I wonder if they have anything going on,” she hinted at as Dr. Olsen stared at her.

“I want to know if it is true,” Leana said when he didn’t comment at her statement.

Dr. Olsen stared at her for a few minutes before he turned and started to walk away as he said, “Abella is almost three months pregnant, Leana.”

Leana stared after him with narrowed eyes as she gripped her sides tightly leaving nail imprints in her sides.
