“Okay,” Delilah said. “Thanks, I guess. That’s...good news. So, any word on my next mission?”
Katz grinned at her and she felt as if he saw right through her and realized exactly how she felt. But he let her get away with it anyway and nodded, downing the rest of his own drink before slamming the glass on the table and coughing slightly, shaking his head.
“Yes,” Katz finally said. “The Lady and the Tiger.”
She shook her head. “What’s that supposed to mean?”
“Oh, well you should read more,” Katz said knowingly. “We’ll fix that. I’ll take you to Marilyn Monroe’s bookstore before this mission. Anyway, it’s apropos. There’s a lady. Well, a Las Vegas showgirl actually-”
“Ooh, that sounds promising,” Delilah said with a laugh.
“She’s a showgirl, he’s a tiger,” Katz said. “Tiger shifter, I mean. And a billionaire. And he owns the hotel where she dances. And boy, does she hate him.”
“Oh, great,” Delilah said, her mood darkening.
“No one said it would be easy,” Katz said.
“Yeah, but I really wish once or twice they would,” Delilah said, taking another drink.
