Sold to the Prince of the Meldanians Page 16

“What are you doing standing out there like an idiot?” Ilda called out from the half open door to the nursery. “I thought you said you were going to lunch?”

“I was,” Amelia said. “He’s supposed to meet me here.”

“So you’re just going to wait around like some chump! It’s already twelve fifteen, your burning valuable lunch time.”

Since when did Ilda care so much about how I spend my lunch hour?

“If I were you,” Ilda said. “I would go find him and drag him out of whatever important royal meeting he’s in.”

Amelia threw her arms up in defeat. “Alright, fine, I’ll do it your way.”

Truthfully, she was getting pretty hungry and she got along with the front desk receptionist at the Council building. Anything was better than standing in the hot sun getting yelled at by a grouchy matron.

As she approached the glass doors of the building, she noticed that a lot of people were gathered in the main floor. It looked like there was a banner of some sort hanging behind them, but she couldn’t make out the words. She reached a hand out to open the door when someone opened it for her from the inside.

“Hey.” It was Eldan. He was beaming. He held her shoulders, keeping her in place and her gaze locked on him. “Before you go reading that sign I have to ask you something.”

“Uh, okay…” Amelia laughed. “Ask away.”

“Will you marry me?” He let go of one of her shoulders and pulled a ring from the small chest pocket in his vest. He held it up to her, holding it between his thumb and pointer finger.

The question hit Amelia like an arrow. Not one shot by an enemy, dipped in poison and meant to kill. Instead, it was an arrow that pierced her heart and what bled out from the wound was not blood, instead it was warm and satiny. That something, pure and luxurious, gushed from within her body in the form of tears and stutters.

“I—er—um,” that was all she could manage at first. Then, finally, she got the word out. “Yes.” She stuck her hand out and Eldan slipped the ring onto her finger. “Yes, yes,” she said. “Of course the answer is yes!”

Eldan picked her up and swung her around in his arms. The crowd which had surrounded them started clapping and out of the corner of her eye Amelia read the banner which said, “All Hail Queen Amelia.”

When he put her back on the ground, Amelia’s knees felt weak. She kept her arms wrapped around him for balance, and also because she couldn’t bring herself to let go. She saw Ilda had arrived with all the kids in tow and realized everyone was in on it.

“I can’t believe this,” she said. “I don’t know what to say!”

One of the older Council members, an aging shifter woman, stepped forward and took Amelia’s hand. “I am so pleased to welcome you to our Council, Queen Amelia. I have taken it upon myself, as requested by the King, to draw these up for you.” She reached behind her where a table was stationed and picked up a stack of papers. “The top one is a marriage license. You will need to sign and date it on the line here, in front of a witness, which will be me, and it will be official.”

Amelia stared down at the paper in confusion, then looked up at Eldan. “You mean we aren’t going to have a wedding?”

Eldan moved some hair out of her face and kissed her forehead. “Of course we are going to have a wedding, but I thought you might want to visit your family first.”

Amelia shook her head and went to speak but the Council woman spoke over her. “Once you two are married, you can take this paper, which is proof of your status as Queen and use it to get across the border.” She held up a few of the other papers and then set them in the pile she had started on the table behind her. “And finally, this paper is a money order.” She handed the last document over to Amelia. “As the Queen you are given a stipend every month to use how you please. You may visit the bank today and withdraw however much you want.”

Amelia looked at the number written down next to the words “Monthly Stipend” and her jaw dropped. It was more than enough to pay for Cat’s treatment. She started to cry and the Council woman took the paper from her before her tears could stain it. With a smile, the woman gathered up the papers and excused herself.

“Come find me when you’re ready to get married,” she said as they parted ways.

Amelia was feeling light headed and she asked Eldan to come with her outside.

  “Is everything okay?”

“Everything is wonderful.” She reached her arms up around his neck and kissed him. “You are wonderful. I just needed you all to myself for a moment.”

They stood wrapped in each other’s arms, swaying gently side to side, dancing to their own music.

“I have to go,” she said after a few minutes. “Tonight. I know it’s fast, and it would be nice to have our first night as an engaged couple together but I have to go help Cat—”

He put his finger to her lips. “Shh, you don’t have to explain. I understand. That’s why I fast tracked the paperwork. There’s a bag packed for you already and a driver waiting to take you. And besides, we don’t have to be apart if you don’t want to.”

Amelia frowned. “You want to come with me?”

Eldan smirked. “I think it’s about time I meet my in-laws, don’t you?”

She kissed him again, once on the mouth and then once on each cheek. “Okay then! Let’s go get married my King!”

“I’m right behind you my Queen.”

  End.

  Sold To The Athim Prince

  Get It Here

  I bought a human bride.

Her father, the president, sold her to me, and now she is mine.

  I’m a conqueror.

  A warrior.

  A destroyer.

  And a prince.

A human wife will show the Universe just how powerful I am.

  My best acquisition yet.

  She is already difficult.

On her first night here she complained about the pajamas I got her.

It was called “lingerie”, as it seems, not pajamas.

I tried getting human things for her to feel at home.

But I can’t know everything, right?

  She is afraid of me.

I won’t touch her —I am not the monster they think I am.

But my heart is cold, and my soul has turned into stone.

My duty is to protect her.

Her duty is to serve my crown.

She now stares at me with a human expression I can’t quite comprehend.

What the **** does that mean!?

  Branded By The Black Wolves

  Get It Here

  I'm on the ground, again.

I have been punched and slammed by someone far bigger and tougher than me.

I can hear the snorts and laughter; I'm the only girl on the training squad.

"This is why someone like you should never be allowed to fight side by side with war brothers."

Still, I get up. Not complaining.

This is the life I chose.

So when a stranger challenges me to a duel two minutes later, I don't hesitate to take him up and agree to his terms that I will do something for him if I lose.

  Then it all went black.

I wake up in a cell and realize with terror that I'm probably in werewolf territory, high up in the mountains.

Two hours later, I'm presented to both, the prince's step-cousin and the prince himself.

"You are lucky, you have been chosen to be our new human concubine. A rare opportunity, given only to the most worthy of women."

You've got to be kidding me?!

This was NOT what I meant by a favor!!!

  "Have you bred before?"

  WHAT?!

"What about sharing? Two, three men, perhaps?"

  EXCUSE ME?!

"Tomorrow will be your first training."

Next thing I know, I ha
ve a royal collar attached to my neck, to denote I belong to them.

"You either walk on your feet or you will be dragged," says the prince.

  He can't be serious.

  I'm gonna kill them both.
