Alphas of Seduction Page 23

“Clean?” Her brows wrinkled in confusion.

“I want to make love to you without a condom.”

When she finally grasped what he was asking, she softly nodded. “I’m on the pill, too.”

“Thank fuck,” he exhaled. “You’ve just made all my dreams come true, sweetheart.”

“Not yet, but I sure hope to.” A naughty smile tugged the little vixen’s lips.

Sofia rolled from side to side and tightened her wet folds around the tip of his dick. Just as he was about to drop his hips and drive inside her, she cupped his cheek. “Please…I need you to fill me. Fuck me, Burk.”

He wanted a hell of a lot more than to simply fuck her. He wanted to crawl deep under her skin. “No.”

As if he’d just landed the greatest insult of all time, Sofia lifted her chin and scowled. “Why not? Aren’t I as good as the other—”

He placed his finger over her lips, halting the rest of her self-deprecating question.

“I’m not going to fuck you, Sofia. I’d never do that to you. I want to spend the rest of the night making love to you…making beautiful, soul-stealing, life-altering love to you, sweetheart.”

He watched the hurt and rejection slide from her face and exhaled in relief. But when her chin quivered and a tear spilled from her eye, it totally gutted him. What pieces of his heart she didn’t already own were hers now.

He bent and sipped the salty tear between his lips while the three words he’d never wanted to say to any woman before seared the tip of his tongue. Instead of scaring the ever-living fuck out of her, he swallowed them down and claimed her mouth in a passionate kiss.

Lost in the splendor of her decadent mouth, he slowly started to ease inside her. The feel of her sweltering, soft pussy stretching around him sent Burk’s eyes to roll in the back of his head. Taking his time, he fed inch after agonizing inch inside her while branding the sublime perfection of Sofia to his soul. Her eyes drifted closed. But he barely blinked as he drank in the surrendering gasps and moans and animalistic growls sliding off her lips.

Watching pleasure play over her delicate features, he squeezed deeper into her snug passage. When she lifted her lashes, Sofia sent him a trembling smile and sucked in a ragged breath. With trust brimming in her pale gray eyes, she palpably ripped down the last of her walls.

The shock and joy exploding inside him rocked him to the core.

And when she tore open the shutters of her soul, he sucked in a startled breath and delved deeper. He could see the scars and insecurities lurking in the dark recesses, but the blinding light of Sofia’s strength…her confidence, and her ability to love glowed brighter than the fucking sun.

Burk’s whole world tilted on its axis. Emotion clogged his throat. He skimmed a feather-soft kiss across her lips. “Thank you for trusting me, sweetheart. I swear I’ll never hurt you.”

To seal his vow, he swooped in and claimed her mouth as he thrust fully inside her. Swallowing her muffled squeals, he bit back a howl. Her tight muscles were strangling him as she struggled to soften and accept his invasion.

“Oh, god,” Sofia panted. “Your cock is huge!”

Damn! She was finally stroking his ego.

“Move, dammit,” she growled. “I’m going up in flames here… Oh, god!”

“Are you giving me orders?” he taunted.

“Yes! Make this wicked burn stop…please!”

Now isn’t the time to start exploring the kinkier side of life, the little voice in his head reminded. But damn if he didn’t ache to make her suffer a wee bit longer.

“Buuurk.” Her pleading moan made him want to roar like a fucking animal.

Dipping his head, he nuzzled her neck. “I’ll take it away, sweetheart…hang on.”

As he slowly began dragging in and out of her blissful core, pulses of lightning slammed up his spine.

  “Faster, Burk…faster,” she whimpered.

Burk couldn’t help but oblige. Gripping her hip with one hand, he locked his gaze on hers and let the ravenous beast within take over. He trailed his other hand over her body…plucking and pinching her sweet-candy nipples, then gliding over her rock-hard clit.

“More, Burk. Please. I need more,” she gasped, lifting her hips to meet his long, measured thrusts.

Gripping both hands to her waist, he launched in and out of her melting cunt like a piston. The blistering friction soon had him hanging by a thread, but when Sofia tossed away all inhibition and began rubbing her clit, a bolt of lightning slammed down his spine and tingled through his limbs.

Once again, her panted mewls took on a desperate pitch.

He knew she was close. Thank fuck, because so was he.

Her eyes glazed over and lost focus.

Like a clap of thunder, Sofia bore down around him. She opened her mouth and exhaled on a silent scream as her pussy muscles strangled his dick. As their eyes locked on one another, her image blurred. Burk ceded all control and let the ferocious tide pull him under. Biting his lips together to hold back a roar, he grunted and stilled as streams of come jettisoned from his cock into her sweet, spasming pussy.

Buried deep inside her, he collapsed and nuzzled his face in the crook of her neck. He didn’t move for several long minutes while they both tried to catch their breath. Finally, he lifted and pressed his lips to hers. Deepening the kiss, he wedged a hand between them and began toying with her clit.

Burk spent the rest of the night spiraling Sofia to the heavens just to watch and feel her shatter in soul-stealing bliss. When dawn began to break, she was boneless and wrapped in his arms. Her head lay on his chest with her fingers laced in his, sound asleep.

“My life is perfect now,” he softly whispered.

When Sofia opened her eyes, she noticed that the bus had stopped moving but it was deathly quiet. Her second, more crushing observation was that Burk was gone. Only the masculine scent of his ghost remained, staining her skin and the sheets.

Last night had been…the single most amazing night of her life.

He’d given her a private concert of fireworks and thunder. But he’d done more than that. He’d somehow aligned all the jumbled pieces inside her and made her feel whole for once.

But waking up in the cold empty bed sent the doors of regret and embarrassment swinging wide open. He hadn’t even woken her before returning to his own bed. Tears threatened, but she bravely held them back. She didn’t have time to throw a pity party or berate herself for being a lovesick fool. The band had a concert scheduled for tonight. She had to get to work.

Glancing at the clock near the foot of her bed, Sofia gasped.

Two in the afternoon! Why the hell didn’t the guys wake me?

The second she sat up, the sublime ache radiating through her pussy and thighs made the answer crystal clear. “Because you stayed up all night fucking Burk’s brains out,” she groused under her breath.

After tugging on the clothes she’d worn while seeking him out at the BDSM club, Sofia pulled back the privacy curtains and stepped into the aisle. The bus wasn’t just quiet…it was totally empty.

Sofia dashed to the bathroom to complete her morning beauty regime. After, she donned a pair of sandals, grabbed her portfolio brimming with notes, and scurried off the bus. Fans were already lined up at the main entrance of the arena. But because she’d booked this concert, Sofia knew which door—marked employees only—would lead her to the stage.

Focused only on the list of things to do accumulating in her head, she yanked the door open and jogged down a long, light-colored, tiled hall. She jerked to a halt when Burk’s whiskey-smooth voice boomed through the speakers. “Okay, guys. I think we’re good.”

  Shit!

What the hell was she going to say to him? Thanks for the best fuck of my life. You can play hide the microphone with me anytime. She couldn’t come up with anything that didn’t sound pathetic, stupid, or lame.

  Shit! Shit! Shit!

What if he didn’t even acknowledge her or
what they’d shared last night?

That sent fear and anxiety roaring through her.

Sofia began to shake. She struggled to suck in air.

“You heading backstage to grab some grub with us?” Ross’s voice came through the numerous speakers mounted on the ceiling.

“Nah, I’m going to hang here and work on a new song I’ve been dabbling with. You all go on. I’ll meet you by the dressing rooms later.”

“If you need a beat for your tune, I’ll hang around,” Ross offered.

“Thanks, man. But I’m good. This one’s an acoustic number.”

“Christ, you’re not going all teen-bop on us, are you?” Ozzy tone was full of disgust.

  “Aw, hell no!” Burk groaned.

It was close to the same sound he’d made last night. A shiver of longing skittered through her. Dammit! She didn’t have time for this. Sofia needed to make sure all the details she’d requested had been taken care of. But her feet refused to budge.

She’d have to face Burk sooner or later. That reality sent insecurities budding inside her like cherry blossom trees in the spring. Frozen in place, Sofia listened while the band members vacated the stage. The only sound coming from the speakers now was the soft strum of Burk’s guitar. She spent several minutes trying to decide if she should slide her mask back in place and confront him or run back to the bus like a scared rabbit.

“Get a grip. You’re a professional, for shit’s sake! Okay, so you fucked up…royally fucked up, but there’s nothing you can do to change that now,” she tersely chided herself.

Yanking up her big-girl panties, Sofia lifted her chin and squared her shoulders.

“Are you lost, sugar?” Burk’s question had Sofia spinning around to see if he’d somehow snuck up behind her.

“I’m not lost at all, handsome,” a sultry-voiced woman purred. “I know exactly where I am. And you’re exactly who I want to see.”

“Me?” Burk repeated with a hint of disbelief. “What do you need me for?”

“To lick, suck, and fuck you so good you’ll think of me anytime someone mentions, Minneapolis,” the woman boasted. “I’ll give you anything you want…head, pussy…my assssss…for as long as you want.”

  “Anything?”

“And everything, stud muffin,” the harlot hummed.

“Why don’t you step up here on stage with me for a minute, darlin’,” Burk drawled.

Sofia’s heart stuttered. A loud buzzing noise droned in her ears. Black splotches floated on the fringes of her periphery, and her stomach twisted into a painful knot. When she tried to drag in a breath, it felt as if she were sucking sand.

Last night had been an epic mistake. Still, some naïve part of her wanted to believe Burk had more class than to roll out of her arms and straight into another’s in the same damn day.

“Oh, god, why did I ever let him touch me?”

Because you’re a stupid, hopeless romantic fool! the little voice chided.

The sickening realization that Burk would never turn down the band bunny’s offer finally pulled Sofia from her frozen state. It would be a cold day in hell before she’d subject herself to standing there and listening to Burk bend the bitch over an amplifier while every moan, grunt, and scream resonated through the arena’s speakers.

Clutching the leather folio to her chest, Sofia spun on her heel and ran away. When she stepped out into the sunlight, she clenched her jaw to hold back her tears and marched back onto the bus. After making sure she was still alone, she released the mournful sobs she’d kept locked in her chest.

Diving into her sleeping berth, she grabbed her pillow, pressed her face in it, and unleashed a primal scream. Of course when she sucked in a breath, Burk was right there…hovering above her, driving his delicious, hard cock deep inside her all over again.

“Son of a bitch!” she screamed.

There was no place to escape him, especially with his scent permeating her pores.

“I can fix that,” she huffed.

She snatched up some clean clothes and stormed toward the bathroom. At least there, she could have a long, ugly cry without getting busted. A hot shower might cauterize the gaping hole in her heart, but a cold one was guaranteed to extinguish the blistering rejection bubbling in her veins. After peeling off her clothes, she opted to boil Burk Jennings from her system. When she stepped into the steaming spray of the shower, she grabbed the soap and tried to scrub away the image of Burk shoving his cock in every orifice of the bimbo on stage with him.

She dropped her head and watched the soapy suds swirl down the drain.

Like a knife, the finality that she’d simply washed away the magic of Burk’s touch gutted her open.

Wrapping her arms around her waist, Sofia slid to the floor of the shower and wailed. The water washed away her tears but did nothing to dispel the harsh sobs breaking free from deep inside her chest.

Sofia knew she had no one to blame but herself.

She’d stupidly wanted not only the physical fantasy but the emotional parts of it as well. The part where Burk Jennings actually cared about her…where she meant something to him. But that’s why they were called fantasies, right?

All she could do now was purge her foolish, reckless delusions and go on.

But she couldn’t erase the benevolent, spine-melting lover he’d been last night. While that was probably just a façade, one he’d honed with tons of different women, it didn’t explain the chemistry she felt or that crazy electricity zipping through her every time he touched her. He’d even known just the right way to kiss her to make her see goddamn stars.

No wonder women were lining up to fuck him.

The man wasn’t just a musical genius but a freaking demigod in bed.

Like a poisonous spider, he’d drawn her into his web of seduction. And Sofia, the brainless fly, had let him.

  Fuck!

What pissed her off the most was the fact that every time she looked at him, she’d relive every quivery, pussy-melting, explosive second she’d spent with him.

Sucking in a ragged breath, Sofia lifted her face to the heavens and let out a long, loud scream. Harsh sobs tore from deep inside her as she expunged the irrational pain and disappointment clawing through her.

She’d lost all semblance of time as she spilled her heart out. It was only when the water began turning cold that she stood and sucked in a tumultuous breath and turned the shower off. She dried her eyes and her body before tugging on a pair of jeans and a black T-shirt. The word Staff emblazoned on the front and across the back guaranteed access to the stage at tonight’s performance. She dragged on her socks and tennis shoes before drying her hair. As she stood at the mirror, applying her makeup, Sofia began repeating an internal mantra:

  Hold your head high.

Do the job you were hired to do, efficiently and professionally.

There is no room for personal baggage or emotions at this performance.

  You are an adult.

What, or rather, who Burk Jennings does will not affect you.

Okay, the last line was a lie.

She’d have to work on that one. She’d also have to work on exuding a sense of confidence she definitely didn’t feel.

As she strode off the bus, the little voice in her head reminded her: Fake it till you make it. Damn, she was turning into a regular cheerleader now that she’d bawled her eyes out. The thought made her lips twitch with a semi-smile.

Inside the arena, she made her way down the same hall she’d traversed earlier. Through the speaker system, she heard Burk utter a curse. Sofia pulled her cell phone from the pocket of her jeans and checked the time. A scowl wrinkled her brow. He should have been in the dressing room with the band going through their pre-show ritual of slugging water, warming up their voices, and getting pumped for their performance.

“Yo, they’re going to start letting the fans in soon,” Sofia heard Darren remind through the speakers.

“I’ll join you girls in a mi
nute. I think I’ve finally got this tune nailed down.”

  “Suit yourself,” the drummer countered.

As Sofia hurried toward the door that accessed the stage, Darren jogged toward her.

“Glad you finally woke up,” he jabbed with a grin.

“I’ve been up for hours, making sure you pampered goons have a full supply of makeup and tutus for your next gig,” she teased back.

  “Pink ones, right?”

  “Rainbow-colored for you.”

His smile grew wider. “I’m glad you’re only rattling my cage, cupcake.”

“Who says I am kidding?” She flashed him a wicked grin and kept right on walking.

  “Wait…you are, right?”

Sofia raised her hand and waved without even looking back.

  “Fuck me!” he grumbled.

As she clambered up the set of industrial stairs, Sofia heard the familiar haunting melody that Burk had been playing last night. She made her way to the edge of the stage and stopped just behind the tall black curtain. He was sitting on a wooden stool, acoustic guitar nestled over his thigh. Eyes closed, he leaned in close to the microphone and began to hum. The soft, sensual sound flowing from him belied his usual raw and husky wail that Sofia had grown accustomed to hearing.

An unmistakable look of longing settled over his face, the sight so shocking that she paused and focused all her attention on his solo performance.

Pale gray eyes that see right through me

Carefree laughter sets my soul free

She’ll never know how hard I’ve fallen.

The depth of emotion in his voice made butterflies dip and swoop in her stomach.

  Flinging barbs and scathing banter

Will never prove how much she matters

She’ll never trust how hard I’ve fallen.

Sofia’s heartbeat kicked up. Surely the song wasn’t about the two of them…was it? She gave an unconscious shake of her head, inwardly chastising herself for still playing the hopeless idiot.

This unrefined rocker has nothing to give a lady who deserves a charming prince.
