“Have you decided what I want to say about the café in a write-up?”

I slowly nodded my head, suddenly not feeling as sure about my decision. “Yes. I want it to say that all meals will be personally prepared by the café’s owner, Kylie Berry.”

Everyone stopped eating—everyone that is except for Brad. He’d heard these plans last night. Now he simply smiled while shaking his head, but he didn’t stop eating.

Agatha was the first to speak. “Sweetheart, you’re an absolute dear, but are you sure you want to do that?”

I shook my head no, but then said, “Yes.”

Jack chuckled deep and low, coal-dark eyes sparkling. “Brave girl. This is to you.” He raised a piece of his omelet in salute before devouring it in one bite.

“I also want the article to say that I’ll have an Oops board, and anything that doesn’t turn out well will go up on that Oops board to be sold at a steep discount.”

“Smart. That should help to create some curiosity and some buzz,” Joel said.

“Not to mention bring in some penny pinchers,” Zoey added. “The college crowd or people operating on a tight budget will love it.”

I smiled, happy to have my ideas embraced rather than shot down. I’d been so nervous about naming myself the sole cook that I’d tossed and turned half the night.

“What kinds of foods will you offer?” Joel asked.

“I’ll keep it simple. Today is all about omelets. Tomorrow…” I shrugged. I’d have to give that some more thought.

“Will there be any more murder hunting in your future?” Jack asked.

“No,” Brad answered at the same time that Joel said, “That’d be a great hook!”

They looked at each other, and I could have sworn that I saw them glare.

“No more murders,” Brad said. “This is a quiet, sleepy town. We have our issues, but murder’s not one of them. Our little Kylie will just have to be satisfied with the boring, everyday life of a downtown Camden Falls property and business owner.”

“And murder solver extraordinaire!” I said, clapping my hands together. “Put that in there too, Joel.”

Brad choked but Joel laughed. “Sure thing. Anything for you. You want to include anything else?”

I looked over at the glass front door where I could see the scrawled, backward name of Sarah’s Eatery. “Tell them that the café’s name is changing, too.” There was a chorus of ohhhs as people turned to look at the café door and then at me.

“What will you name it?” Zoey asked.

I smiled and felt a warmness grow around my heart. “The Berry Home.”
