He raised his eyebrows.
“You and me, alone together, in bed. It’s not as soundproof in there as you’d like, but we can whisper.”
“There’s lots I can do silently, and being quiet is one of the things I’m good at.”
She couldn’t deny that. He was certainly the quietest of her husbands.
He stroked over her bottom lip with the tip of his finger. “Though you might find yourself crying out with pleasure a few times.”
“I like the sound of that.” She also liked that his confidence was growing. “So it’s a deal?”
“I’m wearing your collar, and you’re wearing ours.” He paused. “So yes, it’s most definitely a deal.”
“Good.” For a moment she wondered about dragging him into the tent right now and forgetting about waiting until the evening. But she had things to do. The Jeep needed towing nearer, and then she could finish off the last few things and get the engine started. “Paul and Mason are still in the tent with Raul, but where are Evan and Harry?”
“They went over to the hospital. Kwame has gone home, they said something about fixing a loose section of flooring.”
“Oh, okay, I’ll go over there and see if they can help me with the Jeep.”
“I’ll help with the Jeep, too. And I’ll walk there with you.”
She stepped out of the van. “It’s so close, I’ll be fine.”
“Olivia.” He frowned.
“Watch me go, keep a look out for wild beasts, and if you see one then please swoop in like Tarzan and rescue me.”
He folded his arms and frowned. “Don’t think I won’t watch every step, because I will.”
“I know.” She kissed his cheek then headed off. It would be a relief to have the big cat caught, not least because the guys were getting overprotective.
She had nearly been lunch.
But still. She could walk the hundred meters to the hospital.
As she approached, all was quiet. She wondered if Evan and Harry had gone off to do something else.
But as she walked up the steps, she heard voices coming from the ward area.
It was Harry’s and Evan’ deep tones.
A wrapper from one of the fluid-giving sets littered the floor, so she stooped to pick it up. Before she straightened, she looked into the ward area.
Evan was standing with his arms hanging at his sides. He was shirtless, as usual, and was breathing deep and fast; she could make out his ribs.
She paused. There was something about his stance that was off
Then, as if in slow motion, Harry stepped up to him. He clasped his hands over the sides of Evan’s head and kissed him, hard.
Their chests pressed close, and Evan gripped Harry’s thick biceps and returned the kiss.
Her heart stuttered. A deluge of images of Harry and Evan together besieged her. But before she could filter through them, Evan shoved at Harry.
He wiped the back of his hand over his mouth and staggered to the other side of the room. “What the fuck are you doing, Vidal?”
Harry let his arms hang relaxed at his sides and produced a cocky grin. “I’d have thought that was obvious.”
“No, it’s fucking not.” Evan pointed at him. His cheeks were flushing red, and his eyes sparkled with emotion. “And don’t do it again or I’ll break your perfect Hollywood nose and take some teeth out of that super-star smile.”
Harry was silent.
“I’m not fucking gay,” Evan said, taking a few swift paces up to Harry. He set his hand flat on Harry’s chest and pushed. “Okay? I’m…not…fucking…gay.” He punctuated each word with a shove.
Harry took several steps backward. “Neither am I.”
“So you just go round kissing blokes?” Evan huffed.
“No.” Harry stepped close again; he lowered his voice. “Just you.”
Evan scowled, and for a moment he was very still.
Their faces were only a whisper apart, but then Evan pushed Harry again, much harder this time.
Harry’s shoulders hit the wall, but he quickly straightened and rounded on Evan, fists clenched.
Olivia scooted into the room. Quick as a flash, she put herself between them and rested her palms on their hot, hard chests.
“What the hell is going on in here?” she demanded. “Tell me.”
They glared at each other and spoke at the same time. “Nothing.”
