Silver Wings, Iron Cross Page 40

by Tom Young

While writing this book, I enjoyed a pleasant visit to the Palm Springs Air Museum in Riverside County, California. Volunteers there fielded my questions and let Kristen and me climb through their B-17, Miss Angela.

My dauntless literary agent, Michael Carlisle, believed in this project and saw it through to success. As a result, I now have the great pleasure of working with editorial director Wendy McCurdy and the team at Kensington Publishing.

Perhaps you noted the name on the dedication page of this book. Brigadier General V. Wayne “Speedy” Lloyd led my old unit, the 167th Airlift Wing, West Virginia Air National Guard. Before his retirement, he became commander of the entire WVANG, overseeing operations at both of the state’s airlift wings.

When 9/11 came along and the call went out, we were ready, thanks to General Lloyd. He now serves a higher command. Good tailwinds, sir.
