Insatiable: Moon Tide Book 6 Page 15

But Haley was different. There was a level of responsibility that came with making love to her. She was young and inexperienced and perhaps a virgin.

It would have been a good thing for Hunter to keep this in mind, but he didn’t think of this when he climbed on top of her, leaning in and kissing her mouth and she kissing him back with her hands wrapped around his neck so tight that he couldn’t pry her hands from him even if he wanted to.

And he didn’t want to. That was the last thing he needed, as he lay over her placing his long tongue in her small mouth, claiming her mouth, dropping his tongue as far as it would go. Eventually laying claim to another part of her body as she lay waiting, her eyes closed and naked begging for him to love her.

Haley eventually released her grip around Hunter’s neck as he lowered his body and face to caress her breasts and nipples with his warm mouth and tongue. Her hard breasts and soft nipples reacting to the warm caress of his eager mouth. He lay his head between her breasts and held one breast, then checking her opening with his long finger. She felt a jolt of burning desire course through her and heat race through her body.

“Oh, Hunter. You do love me.” Hunter didn’t reply. He wasn’t sure if it was love he felt, but it was more than what he felt for Katie now. He was open to discover what exactly he was feeling.

“Don’t talk, Haley. Let me love you. Let’s love each other for now,” he whispered. He raised up to face her and look in her eyes. He liked what he saw and she loved what she saw. His hard strong face with his clear blue eyes full of life and pain. His silky dark hair. She distracted herself by combing her fingers through his hair.

Hunter distracted her by placing his large finger in her opening to lessen the trauma of his large manhood. When she was drenched from the motion of his finger in and out of her, she was ready.

“Are you ready to accept me, Haley? It will hurt.”

“I have been waiting for this moment since I met you, Hunter.” Hunter placed his penis over Haley’s small warm tender opening, and he glanced into her waiting eyes and lowered his mouth to hers and he gave one hard push and he was in her.

The pain caused Haley to moan into Hunter’s mouth and bite his lip. The pain was nothing to him. If she could endure the pain from his enormous cock then he could take a little blood dripping from his lip.

“The worst part is over,” Hunter said his hips moving in and pulling out. The tightness of Haley’s body gave him shivers and excitement. His fullness gave Haley an experience she had never had. It was beyond pleasure she had ever experienced. It was her first sexual encounter and it was with a werewolf, and she loved him totally and absolutely.

Haley’s body followed Hunter’s. The rhythm of their hips was like one. When he pushed his hips down she pushed her hips up into him. Their bodies met over and over.

“I’m ready.” Haley knew what he wanted. He wanted her to take his seed from him and to give her his, and she did. The smoldering heat from both of them had the intensity it would take to join metal together.

But Hunter was just getting started. However, he knew Haley had been through a lot, and she was only human, and he understood when he lay to the side and pulled her into his large muscular arms.

The feeling he received when he obtained his orgasm from Haley was beyond his experience and imagination, he thought, looking down at her closed eyes. Never had he wanted this over and over night after night with anyone before. She had found a path to his heart, but was he ready to give it away just yet?

  Chapter 25

Hunter woke, his ears focused as he glanced around. His eyes shifting to the sounds coming from the outside. He had been sleeping deeply even with the waves crashing about the rocks. He couldn’t remember when he slept so peaceful and content since he came home.

Glancing over at Haley, her head was lying on his chest, and her eyes closed, her arms wrapped around his impressive compact waist which held a broad set of shoulders anchored with long muscular legs and thighs.

He took her hands from his waist and lay her head on the pillow. Sensing that something was wrong, his eyes searched about the room, his hearing zeroing on the sound of careful footsteps on wet grass. The suspicious sounds were clear to him.

Lights were on in part of the massive home. His bedroom in the back overlooking the ocean was impossible to penetrate. There were natural barriers. A cliff, and no access from the ocean except on a boat.

The breach would have to come from the front.

Trying to remember if he closed the door where he parked his motorcycle in the back, he couldn’t remember. Things were happening too fast. Finding Haley and then sleeping with her, took his attention off their safety, and thinking that no one could track them was another one of his obvious mistakes.

“A werewolf can’t take anything for granted when they are being hunted,” Wilder would say to him and Devin. “And an alpha werewolf cannot afford to be careless. His mate and the pack could all be wiped out in a second as a result,” Wilder would add. “An Alpha can never rest totally outside of his lair.”

He turned quickly to reach for his phone, and he heard steps on concrete. It was at a distance, but he heard it. Could it be an animal, but there were no large animals in this area he thought. He listened again. It was indeed a large cat, maybe two, from what he could tell.

There was no mention of large cats in this area. But real estate agents wouldn’t tell him those things even if they knew. Making a sale was all they cared about and getting the property off their hands in a short period of time had to be more important than telling a prospective buyer the truth. Especially homes on the beach, which were prized property and property that had a sell by date written all over it, and this appeared to be that kind, what with salt air causing damage to everything.

The house had to be constantly maintained and it would cost. So he ruled out someone revealing that there were large cats lurking around.

Then it dawned on him. He had been tracked and Haley had been tracked. The only animal that could track him would be a lion shifter, or a werewolf, and he doubted that it was a werewolf. They don’t make bonds with lion shifters. A lion does not share anything, especially with a werewolf.

He will rarely share with another lion unless that shifter is younger and less experienced than himself.

Whispering and shaking Haley, he put his hands across her mouth to muffle her voice. If he could hear the animals, there was no doubt that they could hear them. Placing his mouth to her ear, “Haley can you walk? Shake your head don’t speak.” Looking up at Hunter with wide eyed fright she shook her head yes.

“Get into something quick, don’t talk,” he whispered before releasing his hand. Hunter pulled up his jeans and threw on his shirt. He didn’t bother to button it. Haley wobbled into her damp pants and top, which were hanging over a chair in front of the fire.

When Hunter saw that she was partially dressed, he grabbed her hand and led her to the back of the house where his motorcycle is parked. Jumping on it and helping her across, then starting it up, he held his breath.

The noise caught the lion shifter’s attention and he rushed to the rear of the house as Hunter and Haley zoomed across the lawn.

“Hold on Haley.” He didn’t have to tell Haley. She held him tight around his waist, her eyes closed, and her head flat on his wide back. As he neared a tall hedge, he saw a man shift into a lion, and when Hunter prepared the motorcycle for an attempted jump over the hedge, a large paw reached out for Hunter and Haley to bring them down.

The shifter should have aimed for the bike, but he was sure he had the strength to take Hunter, and separate the girl from him who by now was attached to Hunter’s back. It didn’t work out as the lion shifter had planned.

Hunter batted the lions arm with the force of his strength, and rammed his fist quickly into the underbelly of the young lion’s chest, as the shifter jumped into the air. With equally strong force the blow Hunter dealt him, sent the shifter flying backwards
and landing on his back. The shifter quickly maneuvered to his feet and chased after them, but they had made the jump and a great deal of distance across the lawn in a short period.

The motorcycle was worth the price, and it live up to Hunter’s expectation.

The lion wasn’t deterred by that show. He moved fast on four legs, and Hunter would have too, but for Haley. With Haley he was at a disadvantage, and he had to get out of the area.

There was no way he thought he could win a fight with a lion even if he stood toe to toe with him. Haley would be there and she was known to act unreasonable, and it would distract him. He thought of all this as he gunned the motor of his bike making sure it lived up to its reputation as being fast.

  But it wasn’t fast enough.

Haley opened one eye. “He’s behind us and catching up with us, Hunter,” Haley yelled.

As they sailed through the air jumping a few more hedges, Hunter could see the road before him. The shifter made one last dive for the motorcycle, and Hunter caught him jumping low and with Hunter’s boot, he kicked him in the head with his heel with such power that the lion shifter lay on the grass, and this time he didn’t stir. He couldn’t.

Hunter didn’t look back to see if he was alive or dead. He kept looking ahead and kept opening up the motorcycle to its highest speed. The only way he knew Haley was still with him, he felt her heart beat against his back, pulsating at an alarming rate.

After clearing the hedges like a show horse jumping a steeple, the motorcycle hummed down the highway.

“We’re okay for now. The sun will be coming up soon. We have to get out of the area and to the Interstate. We can’t stop until then,” Hunter said breathless, his voice showing the tension.

“Where are we going?” Haley said her voice shaky and concerned.

“I’m taking you back to the ranch. This time you will have to go to school.”

“But I don’t want to, I want to be with you.”

“You can’t. It’s too dangerous for us to be together. That wasn’t Brian. He sent one of his younger lion shifters after me. Probably his son. He won’t stop until he finds you. He thinks you’re his.”

“Can’t you tell him that I’m yours now? He wanted me because I was a virgin. He doesn’t want me anymore,” she said her mouth pressed against his back.

“You know nothing about lion shifters. They don’t care about you belonging to another. When they see a female they want, they don’t stop until they get them, and bring them into their families.”

“What if you tell him I’m no longer a virgin and that I’m pregnant?”

“He could care less about you being a virgin. Lion shifters will wait until the cubs are born and kill the young males. He wants you as a member of his pride, and he’s planning on mating with you. You are special because you’re a human female, and you understand shifters because you’ve lived with shifters.”

Haley noticed that Hunter hadn’t responded to her statement about being pregnant. Perhaps he put that out of his mind because it was possible.

They drove down the highway for the first time in silence. Stopping at the roadside park to give Haley a needed rest, a loud silence separated them. Pulling up behind a set of trees and parking the bike, he caught his breath. Haley took a larger breath and cut her eyes in his direction. He was checking his jeans and looked up at her.

  “What?”

“I don’t have any money,” Hunter said. “And I left my phone.”

“Ever since I met you, you have been broke. How do you expect to take care of me and a family?” Haley said looking up at Hunter with a closed smile.

“Haley, one thing at a time. We have to get out of this mess first, and then I have to ask you to be my mate.” He bit his lip. As much as he wanted to be committed to her, he wasn’t sure. He wasn’t sure he was ready. After all, he still harbored that feeling for Katie which proved difficult to tear from inside of him. It had ripped him apart, and he didn’t feel whole. He didn’t feel much of anything until he made love to Haley, but the closer he got to home, the more he thought of Katie.

Haley made him feel as if he wanted to make love to her every day. But was that enough? Hunter wondered.

Was that enough to just want someone for sex? he questioned.

“That’s not how that works. I thought if we slept together, and I was a virgin and devoted to you when we made love, then I’m automatically your mate,” she said tilting her head to look up at Hunter.

“Half of that is true.” Haley gazed up at Hunter. Her big innocent eyes looking at him for reassurance. “You are mine,” she exhaled, “but I have to declare that I don’t want anyone but you,” Hunter said his eyes wandering across the highway and through the trees.

“And will you do that?” He doesn’t answer. “Will you declare to your family that I’m yours and you want me?” Her heart stopped beating.

“In time, Haley.” Hunter wanted to tell the truth. As long as Haley was in his arms he was committed to her, and didn’t think about Katie anymore, but the bond hadn’t been made strong enough between the two. And she had been nothing but a problem to him, and she wouldn’t listen to him when he asked her to go away for her own good.

He had changed. He didn’t know if he could remain in one place. He would have to be confined and committed to one person, and Hunter didn’t know if he could do that. Haley appeared too needy for him.

The company he was ready to purchase would use up what time he had to give to any woman. Hunter is restless. He didn’t know what he wanted to do. He knew that he wanted Haley then. She just didn’t fit in with his plans.

His father had been a lone wolf and he fashioned himself like him. He hadn’t taken a werefemale as a mate. And it was fortuitous that he met Adrienne, Hunter’s mother, which caused him to realize that she was his one true mate. As long as Hunter wasn’t sure, he would remain uncommitted to Haley.

There was the ghost of an indifferent love that haunted him.

“I need time, Haley. And then I’ll come to you.”

She looked at him. She wasn’t satisfied with his answer, but it was better than nothing.

“I’ll hold you to that. If you take too much time, I might find someone else,” she said teasing with a thin smile. Reaching into her jeans, she held out two damp dollar bills. “Some chips if you don’t mind.”

“We’re going to need money for gas.”

“I don’t have any more.” She had given the truck driver all that she had to get to San Francisco and kept only a few dollars.

“Then it’s the chips or gas?”

Looking up at Hunter, she shrugged, “Then it’s gas,” she said sucking her teeth. “I don’t think I want to marry you after all if I have to live like this. First you starve me, and then I almost die. Now this.” She looks at Hunter waiting until he climbs on the bike. After she sits behind him he heads the bike out in search of a gas station.

A mile down the road, they pull in and Haley hops off and Hunter watches at her as she sashays barefoot inside the store and hands the cashier the money for the gas. The pump hums and Hunter pumps the gas. When he looks around again, she’s smiling at a young man. She’s saying something to him, but Hunter can’t make out just exactly what it is.

The young man picks up a bag of chips, and a pair of flip flops hanging on a metal carousel, and brings them to the counter and pays for them. He hands Haley the chips and tears off the tag for the shoes and hands them to her. She bends to put them on and stands straight and says something to the young man.

She smiles at him, Hunter’s brow furrows.

Hunter places the pump in position and walks briskly to the store. “Let’s go, Haley.”

  “I’m just talking and...”

“Wait a minute, the young man said placing his hand on Hunter’s arm. Hunter gazed down at his hand and his eyes changed to a dark blue. They are empty and cold. His face is without expression.

“You don’t want to do that.” He stare
d down at the young man. Seeing something in Hunter’s eyes, the young man turned without a word and walked away, knowing and feeling that there was something inherently dangerous about Hunter.

Hunter opened the door, and Haley followed behind him. “See, you scare away all the guys I meet. Are you going to keep doing that?” Hunter didn’t say a word. The silence was thick. He climbed on the motorcycle and reached for her and like a ragdoll she went sailing behind him. She had to hold on tight because he zoomed on the pavement to the street and then on the highway.

Whether Hunter wanted to admit it, he was jealous and didn’t want anyone to possess her. He wouldn’t claim her, but he wanted no one else to do it either. She lay her head on his back and heard the intense beating of his heart. She smiled. She had finally gotten to him.

  Chapter 26

Pulling to the side of the road, Hunter cut the motor and let his leg balance the bike. He stepped down and reached for Haley’s hand and lifted her, and set her on a grassy patch. She rubbed her bottom. Stretched her hands over her head then out to the side and let them drop.

“If you can hold on for a half an hour, we’ll be home.”

“I like the way you say home.” Hunter ignored Haley once again. How could she be so matured in one way, and so childish in another? he wondered. Haley tried bending forward stretching her arms and legs once more as she gazed up at Hunter. “Don’t you have something to say to me?” she said. He stared at her not understanding what it is she wanted from him this time.

“You could say you’re sorry for behaving like an ass.”

“How was I behaving like an ass?”

  “You really want to know?”

  “Yes.”

“Every time a man comes up to me and is nice to me, you come barging in like I’m your wife, but in your case a mate, which you haven’t declared that I am.” Hunter’s forehead wrinkled.

“Because you allowed that man to buy you something to eat and shoes. He thought that I couldn’t afford to do anything for you.”
