Desecrating Solomon II Page 16

by Lucian Bane

“I’d have to see it,” his dad said, sounding eager.

“Why does the order not mess with him?” Solomon asked his dad. “Chaos said it’s because they don’t force people to get free of the curse but we all know that’s a crock of shit. There’s another reason. Same for Ms. Mary.”

“She knows stuff too,” Uncle Joe said.

Solomon agreed with a nod. “Definitely.”

His dad shrugged. “My gut tells me they’re both sitting on information that would surface if they died. And that information would cause the order a world of trouble.”

“Maybe we should pay Ms. Mary and Jimmy a quick visit,” his Uncle suggested.

  “Real quick,” his dad added.

“Solomon, Chaos, and the boy can stay here,” his uncle said. “We can’t have him getting captured by them psychos again.”

“No way,” Solomon argued. “If they capture you, what then?”

“Then you run,” his dad said, evenly.

“And just leave you two to be tortured? I don’t think so.”

“Then bring outside help somehow. I have faith in you, son. But you’re not coming on this trip.”

  Chapter Nineteen

Chaos sat on the hotel-room toilet with the paper and pen, wiping the tears from her eyes as she crumpled yet another paper. She fought to breathe around the pain in her chest, focusing.

She’d not practiced her penmanship in so long. Master always said she had the handwriting of a possessed chicken. She wished now she’d worked harder at her lessons. If she had known that one day she’d be writing a letter to an angel, she would have practiced to perfection.

But her sweet Solomon wouldn’t judge her.

She began for the fourth time, praying again that she used the right smart words and spelled it all right.

  My dearest Solomon.

  Please trust me.

I know that I wasn’t always smart. I didn’t get out when I should have. Even when I loved you, I still did the bad things, the wrong things. But you’ve given me back my bad questions that are really good. And they have helped me see so many things. I realize the truth about so much. I know that Chantilly loves you so very much even without really knowing. I know with all my heart that she’s stuck in hell, waiting to be rescued by her love. But I cannot let you ever return there. If Master gets you again, you will not leave.

It is the greatest, greatest honor to have met you. To have known you. To have loved you. I will never stop loving you no matter what.

I wasn’t smart in the beginning Solomon. But I’m not so stupid anymore. I didn’t play the right game like Chantilly did. I played the wrong game. And because of that, you nearly died. I will never forgive myself for that.

But you’ve taught me so much. And I know how to make things right. I know how to play the good games now. Trust me, my sweet angel. Please trust me. And if not me, trust God. Trust that he will be with me, helping me be the right kind of smart.

Do not ever have regrets. Do not cry for me. Do not be afraid for me. God has prepared me to end this curse. I just needed to understand what that curse was.

So I am returning to end the Master of pain. The Master of torment. I am returning to end the curse. And you and Chantilly will love again.

This is my greatest gift to you. Please accept it. It is all of me, everything that I have to give. My heart. My soul. And my life.

  Love,

  Your Beautiful
