“Who is she? What’s her name?”
There it was.
“Christy,” Lucas said. He hated saying her name aloud. He felt like he didn’t have closure when he said it like it made her seem vividly real when all he wanted to do was forget that she had ever existed.
“Did you invite her over?” Abigail searched his eyes for the truth when he met her gaze.
“No.” His heart raced. “She has been stalking me for a number of weeks now.”
Abigail looked unconvinced. “Really?”
“Yes.” Lucas gave her a steady look. The entire situation was humiliating at best, but he deserved it.
“Why didn’t you tell me?” Abigail whispered.
“I don’t know.” Lucas shook his head and exhaled deeply. “I guess I was embarrassed by her. She’s still a heroin addict.”
“That explains the needles on your nightstand,” Abigail said.
Lucas looked at her. “I’m so sorry you had to witness that.”
Abigail wrinkled her forehead. “It still doesn’t explain why she was in your bed. Unless you invited her there.”
“I didn’t.”
“Did she have a key?” Abigail seemed cynical. “Do you still do drugs? Do you still deal them?”
“She stole one from my house a few months ago,” he confessed. “And no. I haven’t used drugs or sold them in a number of years.”
“So, how many times have you woken up to find her in your bed naked and lying next to you?” Abigail questioned.
“Just that once,” Lucas said. “She had used my key to sneak in. I didn’t realize she was there. You walked in just as I realized what was happening. I slept so hard after the show that I literally passed out and heard nothing.”
“It sounds like bad timing,” Abigail said with a sigh.
“Yes.” Lucas nodded. He felt like they were making progress in clearing his name and having Abigail understand what had happened. Just like the Meghan incident, it was simply an accidental occurrence that unfolded at the wrong time. “That’s exactly what it was.”
“How are you going to get her to leave you alone?” Abigail sounded unconvinced.
“I’m going to get a restraining order against her,” Lucas said.
“Do you think that will work?” Abigail fiddled with the hem of her shirt.
Lucas shook his head and let out an ironic chuckle. “To be honest, I have no idea.”
“I guess it’s better than nothing.” Abigail seemed to visibly relax as she leaned up against the passenger seat.
“Yeah...” Lucas trailed off and looked at her for several seconds. He still couldn’t decipher how she felt about everything going forward.
She looked at him again. She was stunningly beautiful. He wished he could reach across the console divider and touch her. He ached for her body to be pressed up against his. He wanted to make love to her again. He wanted to make all her worries and fears melt away. He wanted to give her everything to compensate for the ways that he had hurt her.
As if reading his mind, Abigail gave him a look of caution. “Are you sure you don’t do drugs anymore?” Her eyes flickered with doubt as if she had to ask him again to reaffirm that he was telling her the truth. He understood her caution.
“No.” He adamantly shook his head. “I am totally one-hundred percent clean now.”
He pulled into a parallel spot on the street. He needed a break from the tour through the seedy parts of Chicago. All of these sights were brewing up unfavorable memories in his mind which were making him uneasy.
Lucas shifted the gear into park and looked at Abigail with a sigh. “I wanted to tell you everything so that there wouldn’t be any secrets between us.”
Her features softened slightly. “I wish that you would have just done that from the very beginning.”
“To be honest,” Lucas shrugged. “I didn’t think that you would have ever even given me the time of day if I had told you about my dark past.”
“The past is the past.” Abigail mirrored his shrug.
“Not when your ex-girlfriend is stalking you,” Lucas said.
“Yeah.” Abigail nodded and gave him a cringy look. “That’s a good point.”
“I will do my best to keep her out of the picture,” Lucas promised.
“So, what made you decide that you wanted to turn your life around?” Abigail asked.
Lucas glanced at the ceiling of the car. “I don’t know when it all started changing for me. I guess I just finally realized I had hit rock bottom. I was in a drug deal gone wrong. I wasn’t the one who was on the line, but I was in a shootout with some other guys. I realized after that night that I didn’t want to be a part of the danger anymore.”
“Wow.” Abigail stared at him as if she was completely baffled that he could have ever been a part of something so scary. “It sounds like a nightmare.”
“It was.” Lucas gave her a somber smile.
“How long have you been clean?” She asked. He could hear the hopeful pitch ringing in her tone.
“About five years,” he said proudly. Five long, beautiful years.
“That’s better than I expected,” she said.
“Every day is a struggle, but I’ve been able to overcome,” Lucas said.
“Does your band know?”
“Not all of them.” Lucas abstractly picked at his thumbnail and then pushed a few loose strands of his chin-length hair behind his ear.
“Thank you for sharing your past with me,” Abigail whispered.
He met her gaze and locked eyes with her. He felt like the moment between them was sensual. The air had shifted. Their relationship was going to take a different direction now, but he hoped it was for the better.
“I just wanted to tell you the truth so that you would understand what was going on with me lately. I wanted you to know that there was nothing going on between me and the woman you found in my bed. She wasn’t asked to be there.”
“You need to change your locks. Maybe get a better security system.” Abigail said.
“No shit.”
“So, I’m special then? You don’t give a lot of women your keys?” Her expression looked optimistic.
“Yes.” Lucas nodded and stroked the side of her cheek with his thumb. He didn’t want her to suffer on account of him ever again. “I have never given any other woman a key to my apartment. You are the only one.”
Abigail’s face brightened. She appeared charmed by his statement. “That’s good to hear.”
“That’s why I’m so relieved that you agreed to get in the car with me and hear me out.”
“Yeah,” Abigail said and then her lips twisted into a playful grin. “But can we get out of the ghetto now?”
Lucas chuckled. “You don’t think I can protect you?”
“I mean, you managed to stay alive all those years, so I’d say our odds are pretty good. Still doesn’t make me feel more comfortable.”
“Understood.” He winked at her and put the car into gear, but then stopped and quickly placed it back in park. “I want you to know that I am deeply sorry for the hurt I’ve caused you. None of it was intentional. I hope that you can forgive me for being so reclusive about my past and not telling you up front from the beginning. I know that I would have saved us both the trouble if I had just listened to my instincts. I won’t ever shut you out again.”
Lucas held his breath and waited to see Abigail’s response. He hoped that she would forgive him. He felt like the urgency of his plea was the best he could do to prove to her that he wasn’t going to go back to his old ways, but her expression was hard to read. All he could do was sit there and wait for her to decide his fate. He just hoped that either way, he would be strong enough to receive her answer.
Chapter Twenty
ABIGAIL COULDN’T LOOK away. Lucas looked so wounded, sitting across from her in the driver’s seat of his car. His eyes were full of brimming sorrow. He looked as if he might crumble if she denied him.

p; She took a deep breath. She had a lot riding on this. Did she want to submerge herself further into this relationship? Now she knew that there was a creepy ex-girlfriend with a drug problem still in the picture. She didn’t want to get involved in that kind of drama.
Sure, Lucas said he had been clean for five years but what if he relapsed? Would she be able to deal with it? In the short term, five years seemed like a long time, but in the grand scheme of things, it really wasn’t all that long.
Her perspective was off balance. She was torn. On the one hand, she wanted to appease him. She wanted to give him another chance. She vividly pictured the impressive way that he would make love to her, the way she felt when they were together. How he treated her like a queen.
She pictured his manhood between her legs as she straddled and rode him. Against all the odds, she didn’t want to give up that amazing intimacy between them. It was too much to bear thinking about how empty her life might become without Lucas in it. She had grown so fond of him over the past few months.
In fact, she was beginning to wonder if she might be falling in love with him. It wouldn’t surprise her. Other than the two incidents between them, he had done an incredible job of making her swoon with his charming personality.
“You went above and beyond to prove yourself to me tonight,” she said with a smile. “I appreciate that. You earned another chance, but I will still need some time to process everything you have told me.”
Lucas’ eyes shimmered with relief. He cupped her hands in his and cradled them with his warmth and masculinity. “Thank you,” he whispered. “I understand. You can take all the time you need. And if you have more questions, you can ask them, and I promise to tell you everything.”
Abigail was compelled by how genuine he had been with her. If he was willing to put all his insecurities on the line, then how could she decline his offer to give them one more chance?
She draped her arms around his neck. She couldn’t resist him anymore. It was pointless to even try. She needed to cave into her natural instincts to believe and trust in him. She was glad he told her the truth. Now there weren’t any secrets between them, and she didn’t have to worry and wonder anymore who the mystery woman in his bed was.
He had seemed so genuine as he had retold his story. She could see the grief and pain twisted into his features. She knew that he wasn’t just making up the tortured past to get her back on his side. She was beginning to think that she had trusted him underneath it all, all along. But she’d been too scared to let it show.
She pressed her lips to his. The same fire of desire began to ignite in her belly. It was a warm feeling that spread throughout her body within seconds. They were breathing heavily. Lucas pushed his hands up her shirt and began squeezing her breasts and stroking her nipples through her lacy bra.
She didn’t stop him. She was ready for the future. What was life without a little adventure? Not worth exploring in her opinion. She couldn’t keep her hands off of him. It was like a magnetic attraction that just kept reeling her closer to him.
She pulled away and gave him a saucy grin. “I told you that I wouldn’t judge you.”
“That’s true; you did.”
“If you want me to trust you, then you can’t doubt me either.” She gave him a smile.
“It sounds like a good deal to me.” He grinned eagerly.
His features were wise and ethereal. She felt her hair as it cascaded over her face and gave her features a mysteriously alluring shadow.
He stroked her back up and down. He was hard as a rock. She could feel him between her legs. He was throbbing for her, and it gave her a thrill. She eyed him with passion. She wasn’t afraid. She could tell it in his eyes that he wasn’t either. The chemistry between them was alive and raw, sparkling right in front of her.
“Do you promise to be open and comfortable with me from now on?” She asked.
She made a grinding motion with her hips that she knew would drive him wild. She felt the poking of his prick through his pants. She was desperate to sit on top of him and bounce up and down. Now that they had made up, she was ready to give one-hundred percent to repair the wounds of their relationship.
“I’ll do anything you want me to.” Lucas gazed into her eyes with blazing lust.
He was hers, now and forever. She had confidence in that now. He only had eyes for her. She could see the truth reflecting back to her in the gleam of his eyes.
“Good.” She enhanced her smile. “Now take off your shirt.”
“Gladly.” She watched him peel it off over his head.
She reveled within his hold. She breathed in the scent of his masculinity. She loved seeing him so exposed in front of her. The muscles on his arms were like boulders. His abs were like rolling hills, tilled to perfection.
“I missed this.” She gave him a dazzling smile.
“Me too.” His grin was eager as he pressed his lips to hers and invited her in for a sensual kiss that made her insides turn to jelly.
“I appreciate your honesty,” she whispered into his ear as he began to graze slow kisses up and down her neck.
He worked with effort and precision. He was not going to let her slip away again. She could tell it by the way he was clinging onto her as if he was afraid that she might disappear into thin air right in front of him.
She grazed her nails gently down his back. They were both breathing heavily now. His mouth was exploring her body. She tasted the salt of his skin when she kissed his chin, his neck, and his chest.
Everything was unfolding in slow motion. The air was sensual. His fingertips were tender and soft as he stroked her naked skin.
Abigail grinned at Lucas. “I can’t believe we are going to have sex in a car.”
His eyes were as hungry and desperate as she felt inside. She felt the wildfire of passion spread through her by one simple gaze into his gorgeous and mysterious eyes.
Lucas picked her up by the hips and brought her to the back seat with him. “Don’t worry,” he grunted. “The windows are super tinted. No one from the outside is going to be able to get even a glimpse of what we are doing in here. I can fuck you anyway I want, and no one will ever know.”
“That’s a relief.” Abigail smiled and cradled her hands over his cheeks and stroked the scratchiness of his scruffy beard.
He stroked her hair. It made her feel melty and sensual on the inside. She gazed deep into his eyes. She saw the pain and the struggle, but it was quickly fading into passion and charm. She knew at that moment that he had told her the truth about everything. He wasn’t holding back anymore.
As she climbed onto his lap, she realized that he didn’t want to hold back when it came to amazing sex either. She was flooded with an incredible sensation as he sheathed on a condom and pressed himself between her legs.
He was massive and hard as a rock. She gasped as he maneuvered her hips on top of him. She wiggled her hips and shimmied down onto his lap. It was a tight squeeze in the car, but they were managing.
Her pussy lips were swollen and engorged, tingling. Every sensation was enhanced. Every pleasure filled movement he made sent a thrill of excitement through her body. He cradled her waist for support and began to rock back and forth.
She needed to help him along because she was sitting on top of him, riding him as she ground on his hard shaft. Lucas groaned and rubbed her back. She ran her hands through his chin-length blond hair.
Lucas was beaming, grinning from ear to ear. She knew that she had made the right decision to take him up on his offer to explain his haunting past. She never wanted to doubt him again. She couldn’t miss out on this kind of exotic lovemaking.
She shifted her weight and pressed her body up against his. The air was thick. The windows began to fog. Her moans and cries of pleasure became intensified. Lucas pumped harder in response to her enthusiasm.
He squeezed her ass cheeks, and she smiled. She pressed her lips to his. She was elated about reconciling with him. She just wish
ed that she hadn’t missed out on the time when she wouldn’t talk to him.
Lucas deserved better. Abigail knew that this was the turning point in their relationship. They were either going to sink or swim. She wanted them to flourish. He had opened his heart to her. He had opened the raw, emotional wounds that he had been through over the course of his life and shared it with her because he cared enough about her opinion and what she thought of him.
Abigail rocked back and forth with Lucas. She pressed her hand to the closed window. The car smelled of sweat and sex. It was one of the most erotic moments of her life. She bounced faster and faster on Lucas’ swollen shaft.
She felt the sensation of heaven as it began to fill her senses. She was going to rocket into oblivion in a second. Lucas knew exactly where to hit her sensitive spots to send her over the edge of ecstasy.
The orgasm hit Abigail in a rush of euphoria. The sensation spread from her clitoris all the way through her body like sensual wildfire. Her thighs began to quiver, wrapped around Lucas’ waist.
She squeezed her inner thighs against his body. His body heat was electrifying. He groaned. He was experiencing his climax at the same time as she was. It was an intensely erotic moment of intimacy between them. She was ravaged to the core, rocked from the inside out by his skill and the primal urgency of how he fucked her until she couldn’t see straight.
She collapsed into the seat next to him. Her legs were sprawled out. Her pussy was still wet and glistening. She gave him an exhausted, yet elated smile. She felt her cheeks. They were hot with the aftermath of orgasm.
“Damn, I missed that,” she panted. She watched as his chest rose and fell rapidly beside her. She clutched his hand in hers. “Thank you, Lucas. For everything.”
“I couldn’t live with the demons that consumed my conscious anymore. It was festering there like a cancer that I couldn’t get rid of.”
“You don’t have to go through it alone anymore.” Abigail squeezed his hand with all the passion she had collected inside of herself. She gave him a loving smile and hoped that he saw the purity shimmering in her eyes.
