by Angeline Fortin

In Piper, I tried to show a woman broken by circumstance, and needing someone to blame. A woman strong enough to regain confidence in herself, to rediscover her self-worth.

One who could save herself in more ways than one.

As for Connor, being one among many, I (one of six) know a bit about how it feels to be lost in the shuffle from time to time. Though there’s a lot of love among siblings, sometimes it takes a little push to figure out what sets you apart from the masses and find a different sort of self-worth. It doesn’t have to be anything extraordinary, it simply has to be knowing what makes you you. A farmer. A gentleman. A ready ear and a good friend. Sometimes it takes more than muscle to make a hero heroic.

Still can’t decide if I should have let Rutledge live. I intended to, unfortunately he wasn’t the type to ever give up.

I hope you found a bit of nostalgia in Temple’s return, as well. Occasionally, I’ll get a request to give him his own story. One day I might, but I’ve a few more MacKintosh brothers to deal with first. Such as my rascally twins, Tam and Ian. If you hadn’t guessed already, I found my inspiration for them in the world created by JK Rowling. A little Fred Weasley in their endless pranks. A little George in their constant guff. What will happen when there is not much left for them to laugh at though…? Well, you might not like where it may go in the end.

Please send me your thoughts. I’d love to hear them.

  All the best,

  Angeline
