He screamed and scrambled out of his chair, jumping up and down to dislodge whatever animals clung to him. In the back of his mind, a thought formed. Natalie…
Larissa and Anna screamed, and that high pitched wail that sounded like a girl must have come from Joe.
Stone mashed the remote, desperately trying any combination to turn on the lights.
The lights popped on, and Stone looked down. Rubber lizards lay all over the new carpet, in the chairs, and on the counters.
Joe started laughing. “She…she…she…got us good!”
Larissa and Anna flounced into their chairs, arms crossed, eyes darting daggers.
And then Anna started to laugh. “Looook!” She pointed as she pushed the lizards off her chair.
Stone looked at the big screen television. A paper had rolled down over the screen. He read the words aloud. “Revenge is a dish that is best served cold.”
He laughed harder than he’d laughed in a long time. And his mind was already thinking of ways to get his new mom.
