Surviving the Zombie Apocalypse (Book 13): Gone Page 31

by Chesser, Shawn

Griff said, “We need a dust-off helo standing by. Who’s got Quik-Clots? I need all ya got.”

Cade felt pain in the crook of his arm. Just a little pinprick, followed by a prolonged burning sensation.

The light was back and someone was pumping his chest in measured cadence when another voice he recognized said, “Bastion, this is Whiplash Actual … ready the med-surg unit”—Lopez drew a sharp breath—“We have a friend in need on the way. He’s touch and go right now. And we’re going to need lots of units of blood. What’s his type … anyone know?”

Another familiar voice laced with Southern California chill said, “Wyatt’s O-Positive.”

The light was growing brighter now.

Now Cade felt the palm slapping his cheek. The added pain made him wince and draw inward, toward the light, and those he missed.

The distant gunfire, explosions, and screaming ceased.

At just the moment Cade thought he was about to see Brook again, the ringing in his ears went away and his whole world turned to black.
