A Bride for the Viscount Page 9

by Sara Freeze

A faint breeze stirred the tendrils of hair curling against her neck. Ariadne turned around to see the spirit watching her. No one else seemed to notice as Ariadne nodded in acknowledgment and Margaret began fading from view. Despite all of Margaret’s meddling, Ariadne felt of twinge of sadness at her disappearance. She hoped that Margaret would at last be at peace.

“Are you all right, love?” James’s concerned voice brought Ariadne back to the present. Guiding her away from the excited crowd of servants and family members around the jewels, he brushed back a tendril of hair that had fallen against her cheek.

“Completely fine, as long as I have you and this wonderful estate to care for and to love.”

James looked deeply into Ariadne’s eyes as he said, “You are far more precious to me than any jewels, Ariadne.”

They entwined hands, and amidst the cheers of their family and servants, James pulled Ariadne to him and planted a hearty kiss on her lips. Ariadne beamed up at the face of her future husband. She would truly be the viscount’s bride. “And you are all the treasure I need, James.”

“Welcome home, my future Lady Holt, my bride, the lady of my heart.”
