A Shadow of Wings Page 4

by Gayle, Linda

  “Oh God…” Cam groaned.

“Yeah, that’s sweet, ain’t it. I know what you need.” Dylan had beautiful eyes too, bright blue, and now they glittered with secret knowledge. Cam believed to his bones that Dylan knew exactly what he needed and precisely how to give it to him. He wanted to tell Dylan he shouldn’t do this, that Cam was different. But, on the other hand, in this form, he was human…enough.

He felt Dylan’s hand nudging his face up again and realized he’d squeezed his eyes shut and had turned away unconsciously in shame of what he was. When Dylan tunneled his fingers into Cam’s hair and kissed his jaw, then his throat, then lightly bit where his neck and shoulder met, sending shivers cascading down Cam’s spine, Cam’s mind blanked. The shame dissolved, leaving only hot need behind.

Feeling bold, he rubbed Dylan’s erection through the worn fabric of his jeans. Cam’s beast reared its head, snarling with indignation that this man should be dressed in rags. Cam struggled to ignore it. What did these feelings mean? He tried hard to banish the instinct and concentrated on the way Dylan’s eyes slid half-closed when Cam palmed his cock from the base to the head, which was peeking over the top of the low-hanging waistband, damp and red.

Oh God, yes, Cam just wanted to be human now. With this man.

“Mm,” Cam murmured as he nudged down the lose waist of Dylan’s jeans, exposing more of the fat cockhead. Dylan wanted him too. It felt good to be wanted. A shiny drop of cum sat at the tip of Dylan’s cock, and Cam rubbed his thumb through it.

Dylan tipped back his head and hissed in a breath. “Yeah, that’s nice. Do it again.” When Cam did, watching Dylan’s face the whole time, the pleasure playing over his expressive mouth, Dylan said, “Take off my jeans.”

How easy it was to follow his commands. Cam’s hands shook while he undid the button and slid down the zipper. Dylan went commando, and his thick, heavy cock filled Cam’s palm as soon as Cam had gotten the pants over Dylan’s thighs. “So hot,” Cam murmured, running his hand over and around the hard shaft.

Dylan gazed at Cam from beneath his lashes. “You ever touch another guy before?”

  “Only…only when we’re fighting.”

“We ain’t fighting now, baby.” Dylan’s lips twitched. He seemed amused by Cam’s inexperience, which only made Cam want to disappear into a hole in the ground. “It’s cool,” Dylan said as if reading his mind, or his body language, which Cam was beginning to realize broadcast his feelings clearly. “I like your innocence. Question is, do you want to stay innocent?”

Cam understood what he was asking and gave him a bashful smirk in return, shaking his head.

“Well, then, I’ll be gentle with you, don’t you worry.” Dylan put his hand over Cam’s and squeezed his dick tighter with it. “But you don’t have to be so gentle with me. Like that, baby. Don’t be afraid to be a little bossy.”

God help him, he loved when Dylan called him baby. All his life, he’d been raised to be a warrior, a fighter, a killer. A monster. The weight of expectations lay like a yoke around his shoulders. And yet here this human had him eating out of his hand. Or wanting to.

Dylan sucked in air through his teeth, then gently unwrapped Cam’s grip from around his cock. “Feels real good, but I want to see you now.”

He reached for the button on Cam’s jeans, and Cam let him. Every brush of his fingers made Cam’s skin twitch. When Dylan pulled the zipper down, then dragged Cam’s jeans over his hips, then his boxers, Cam held his breath, waiting for a verdict or something.

“Oh, sweet.” The verdict sounded positive. Cam relaxed a notch, only to tense again when Dylan stroked him, then reached beneath Cam’s dick and fondled his balls, making Cam simultaneously groan and wish he’d thought to do that to Dylan. “Ever let a guy touch you before?” Dylan wanted to know.

He had a wonderful voice, all smoke and velvet. Irresistible, drawing the truth out of Cam effortlessly. Cam shook his head; then, he couldn’t help himself—he looked down to watch his cock disappearing into Dylan’s fist, the rough palm sliding over Cam’s sensitive skin. Dylan twisted his fingers around the head, the friction coaxing precum from the tip, then slicking the moisture around.

Dylan bent his head closer and licked one of Cam’s nipples. The sensation rocked Cam, and he had to grab on to the towel bar to keep from folding at the knees. Dylan sucked and nipped while his hand worked Cam’s cock, and Cam dug the fingers of his free hand into Dylan’s hair. He huffed and pressed closer into Dylan’s mouth because it just felt so good.

This had to be a dream.

Such joy wasn’t granted to horrors like him.

  Chapter Four

With Cam’s fingers convulsing in his hair, Dylan dragged his tongue from nipple to nipple. Oh, yeah, this boy had so much potential. He figured Cam was a sensual creature at heart, and now Dylan had him warmed up, the barriers were falling faster than the Berlin Wall. Shaking his head to free it of Cam’s grip, Dylan rose to kiss the eager mouth that met his. Tongues danced together now, no more shyness. Cam relinquished Dylan’s hair and went for a handful of ass instead. Dylan very much approved and gave him a growly, “Fuck yeah” as reward.

Dylan took his dick in hand along with Cam’s and rubbed them together for a bit, but they were too thick to fit together in his grip. Still, the way Cam bucked and his breath hitched let Dylan know he was close already. Dylan slid his mouth to the other man’s ear, teased the rim with the tip of his tongue before whispering, “I’m gonna suck your dick now. Hard. With lots of tongue. You want that?”

“God, yes.” When Cam drew back, the green and gold had spread in his eyes so they looked almost marbled, brilliant and wide. Dylan quickly found himself falling into them again. Whoa. He shook his head and focused on Cam’s mouth instead, stroking tongue against tongue, hard, deep, while he rubbed their precum-wet cocks together.

He pulled back enough to murmur, “Now when I’m down there blowing you, don’t you worry about coming. I want it, baby. I want all of it, your hot spunk down my throat, spilling over my tongue. I wanna taste you for a week. So don’t be shy. When you’re ready, you come, okay?”

“I…I don’t think that’s going to be an issue. I feel…” Cam’s eyes rolled back when Dylan reached down to roll Cam’s balls between his fingers, then back to touch his hole. “Oh fuck…Dylan.”

“That too, eventually.” He smiled at Cam’s grunt of surprise—or hope—and dropped to his knees. First he licked the thickly veined shaft, glad when Cam’s hips pumped in time with his stroking. He gave the heavy balls a good, sloppy licking, and then he took Cam’s swollen cockhead deep into his mouth.

It wouldn’t take long at all. His sexy virgin kung fu fighter was losing this battle fast. Already his nuts were drawn up tight. Dylan fitted a finger into his mouth alongside the thick cock and wet it, then slid it behind Cam’s balls. He’d barely gotten the tip in there before he heard Cam cry out. Dylan pushed his finger in farther, past the very tight entrance, twisting, while his tongue wrapped around Cam’s dick, and Cam came hard and shuddering. He bent over Dylan, his hands fisting painfully in Dylan’s hair again. No sound of breath while he pumped down Dylan’s throat…then…a gasp and long groan from the bottom of Cam’s soul.

Smiling while he licked the shaft clean of spunk, Dylan stroked Cam’s trembling thighs. He sat back on his heels and gazed up at Cam’s flushed face. “That was real good.”

But Cam scrubbed his hand over his face and half fell against the bathroom wall. He looked so young and lost just then, Dylan’s heart broke a little, and alarm propelled him to his feet. He took Cam into his arms, holding him, petting the sweaty length of his back.

“Did I do wrong?” he whispered against the side of Cam’s neck. “You okay?”

The kid nodded, then sighed and said, “No one’s ever done that for me before.”

“I get that.” He held him tighter, relieved when Cam slid his arms around Dylan’s waist in return. “Somebody should have. But I’m gl
ad it was me. Thank you for letting me.” He pulled back to look at Cam’s sweet face, which still seemed troubled, and tried to kiss him, chasing him when he pulled away.

Dylan palmed the side of Cam’s face, holding him still for the touch of his mouth. Cam hesitated to open at first, but with a little coaxing, he let Dylan in. Dylan remembered the first time he’d tasted himself on another man’s tongue. It had crossed a line in his mind that turned a moment from just boys playing at sex to earthy, erotic fucking, and as it had with him years ago, it now made Cam start to stiffen again. And when Cam sucked with new hunger on Dylan’s tongue, Dylan dug his fingers into Cam’s back and melted against him, died and gone to heaven.

Oh, the things he could teach this guy…

He felt Cam insinuate his hand between them and grasp Dylan’s still rock-hard dick. “Yeah,” he muttered into Cam’s mouth. The rough grasp of Cam’s palm around his cock made his vision blur, it felt so good. “Do whatever you want, baby. If you just want to rub me off, that’s fine. Just don’t stop touching me.”

Cam’s eyes had gone dark as the heart of the Amazon rainforest. There was a strange magic in them, Dylan admitted. He could see himself reflected in them, like in a still, shady pool. “You want to fuck me?” Dylan asked, lowering his lashes, pressing his forehead against Cam’s. His ass clenched. Suddenly he wanted it, bad. “You want to fuck my ass?”

But Cam shook his head. “I mean,” he stammered and licked his lips. “I do, but…I shouldn’t even be doing this.”

“Not tonight. Not your first time. I get it.” Maybe it was for the best. The intensity with which his body had responded to the notion floored Dylan. Not that he didn’t love to fuck and be fucked, but the rush of need left him breathless. Plus he wasn’t sure if his bruised body to do the night justice. He nipped the side of Cam’s throat, as much to drag his gaze from those bewitching eyes as to hear Cam groan. “Do me harder. Tighter.”

His grip made awkward by the closeness of their bodies, Cam obeyed. Dylan really wanted his mouth on him, that sweet virginal mouth. Wanted to see those glorious eyes widen with surprise when his cum shot down Cam’s waiting throat. Wanted to watch Cam swallow his jizz and taste another guy for the first time. He ground his face into Cam’s shoulder and plowed his fingers up Cam’s nape into his hair, happily lost in the swamp of his filthy mind, as Cam jerked him with rough, irregular strokes.

“Fuck yeah. Don’t stop.” He rocked into the determined grip. Then… “Oh, fuck.” His orgasm started from his toes, unfurling, rocketing up through his balls, his spine. He threw back his head and unloaded into Cam’s now slippery fist. Cam surprised him by clamping his mouth down over Dylan’s, and they shared a wicked, wild kiss while the tremors shook Dylan and his dick finally softened and slipped from Cam’s fingers. Cam slapped a sticky hand on Dylan’s shoulder and pinned him against the wall while he devoured his mouth. Dylan didn’t even mind the abuse to his already bruised lips.

Well, he’d say the coursework on Kissing 101 was complete.

Dylan wrapped his arms around Cam’s waist, and they held each other for a few minutes, saying nothing, just sharing body heat and ragged breaths, two runners after a long race.

And Dylan knew there was no way this was going to be just one night.

  Chapter Five

The barking of the dog snapped Cam out of the soundest sleep of his life. He jerked upright, struggling against the tangle of sheets and the weight of warm arms around his chest. He looked down, blinking. Dylan’s arms. Dylan’s messy, dark blond hair tickling his shoulder. Dylan Broderick, the forbidden human he’d picked up last night, let touch him last night, and Dylan Broderick’s dog now bellowing at the front door, where surely it was Tash about come in.

“Oh, shit.” Cam dragged his hands over his face.

“Whassa matta, baby?” Dylan cracked open an eye, still clearly half asleep.

“You…you can’t be here,” Cam choked out. “The dog. I’m fucked.”

“Fooked,” Dylan mumbled with a snicker, imitating Cam’s voice. Cam pulled, and Dylan released him, then rolled over and grabbed Cam’s arm with surprising strength when Cam threw his legs over the edge of the bed to rise. “Talk to me,” Dylan said, sleepy-serious. “Who’s at the door?”

“That’s my… It’s got to be Tash.” He shook off Dylan’s hand and stepped into his jeans, hauled them up his legs and fastened them. A quick glance at the bedside alarm clock read 7:00 a.m. “He’s back early.”

“Maybe it’s somebody else.” Dylan propped up on his elbows. Despite his racing heart and the gold collar choking him like a reminder of who he was, Cam drank in the sight of his lover—his bare chest, his shadowed cheeks, the very human concern in his expression. Untouchable, a voice whispered in his mind.

“No one else would come here,” Cam said, twisting his fingers into his hair in frustration. “You have to leave and take the dog with you.”

Dylan hesitated only a second. “Okay. I don’t want to get you in trouble or nothing.”

He heard the front door open, and Tash yelled, “Cameron? What is this creature doing here?”

He grabbed Dylan’s jeans from the floor and threw them at him, then quickly shut and locked his bedroom door. “On second thought, leave Gertie for now. Tash’s already seen her. Is that okay?”

Already up and staggering around as he dressed, Dylan nodded. “No worries, dude. I’ll pick her up later.”

“No, you can’t come back here again. I’ll…I’ll drop her off. Where do you live?”

“Umm… Why not come by the clinic after hours? They close at six. I’ll wait for you out back.” He gave Cam the clinic’s name and address, and Cam committed it to memory while he tugged on a clean shirt from his dresser.

They met at the end of the bed. Agitated, Cam shifted from foot to foot until Dylan gripped him by the upper arms and made him look at him. “It’s all right. I understand better than you think.” When Cam glanced at him, Dylan smiled, sexy and scruffy and eatable even first thing in the morning. He slid his hands around Cam’s waist, then leaned in for a kiss. The feel of Dylan’s hot, wet mouth on his blanked out everything—Cam’s pounding heart, the barking dog, Tash’s slamming of the door—for a few seconds. When they drew apart, Cam let out a stressed exhale. Dylan said, “I’ll see you tonight. You remember the address?”

Unutterably grateful for Dylan’s understanding—although how he could understand this particular situation was beyond him—Cam nodded. “Thanks. I’m sorry. And…thanks.” For what they’d done last night, on top of this. He felt his neck and cheeks warming.

Once again, Dylan seemed to get what he said, and his smile turned a little filthy. Then he turned to shove his bare feet into his unlaced boots. “I’ll wait until you shut the door, then I’ll go out the window, okay? I promise, no one’ll see me. If there’s one thing I’m good at, it’s making a clean getaway.”

Cam nodded, deciding not to read too much into that statement, then dashed into the bathroom. He took a quick look at himself in a mirror hanging there as if maybe evidence of his forbidden tryst had left spots and stripes. He looked the same as ever, thank God. He gave a quick nod to Dylan, who pressed against the wall behind the bedroom door when Cam opened it.

He slipped through, shut it behind him. Then glanced up into his mentor’s stormy scowl.

“Took you long enough.” Tash put his dark glasses into his jacket pocket. Gertie growled from the front hall, and he jerked his thumb back toward her. “What the hell is that, then?”

“It’s a dog,” Cam said, off balance enough not to care that his tone was disrespectful. “I found her last night. Some people were beating her. I…stepped in.”

“You stepped in,” Tash muttered. In his human form, he was a big man with dark red hair cut longish, and the heavy black leather jacket he wore, worn and scarred from many years of travel and abuse, only made his disapproving presence seem to flood the room. “You were called?” His sharp, blue-eyed
gaze pinned Cam.

Cam nodded. “At least it was just a dog this time.”

“True enough.” He turned his attention back on Gertie, who whimpered and cowered under the strength of those eyes. “Well, get rid of it,” Tash said, though his voice softened. “That accursed calling of yours. This the only one since I’ve been gone?”

He nodded again, feeling a little tension drain from him. He’d heard the soft click of the window shutting behind the door and knew Dylan had kept his word. “I’m sorry.”

Task turned to him and scruffed Cam’s hair with rough affection. “You’re always sorry. Doesn’t stop it from happening. Did you do any damage?”

  “No deaths.”

“Good enough, then. Got any coffee?”

“Yes. I can make some. How was your trip?” Falling easily into their usual routine, Cam led Tash into the kitchen, his heart stumbling when he saw the pile of dishes in the sink. More than what one person would leave. Fortunately, Tash settled at the kitchen table, stretching out his long, jeans-clad legs to shuffle through yesterday’s papers. Gertie slunk in and lay down in the doorway.

“You don’t have to scurry around serving me,” Tash said mildly. “You’re twenty-one now. We’re equals.”

“I’m sorry. It’s a hard habit to break.” Cam studied his mentor while he poured water in the kettle. No matter what he said, Tash would never treat him as an equal. Older than Cam by nearly fifty years, in his human body Tash looked maybe thirty-five, his chronological aging slowed by his time spent at the basilica in his true form, something Cam rarely did.
