I take a seat in my husband’s lap, wrapping my arms around his neck.
“Why are you smiling like that?” He raises an eyebrow suspiciously at me.
“You know how we talked about trying to get pregnant again when Noah turned one so they’re close in age.”
“Yes?”
“Well, we don’t need to try.”
“What do you mean? No way? You’re pregnant?” His eyes find my flat stomach.
“Yep, all it took was once.” I thought considering it took months to fall pregnant with Noah that the same would happen again but no, all it took was once. “You have some strong determined swimmers in there.”
“You hear that, buddy you’re going to be a big brother.” Noah’s response is to grunt then shove his tiny fist in his mouth.
“Aren’t you a little freaked out, we’re going to have two kids under the age of two.” To say I was shocked this morning when I took the pregnancy test is an understatement. Never in a million years did I expect to be pregnant again on my son’s first birthday.
“Not at all. There will be double the love and laughter and happiness that this guy brings us. Besides, we need another girl to even things out.”
“I love you, but there will also be double the diapers.”
“Baby, when I look around this kitchen you know what I see? My beautiful wife and my son who I love more than life itself in a home that’s happy. This right here is all I need and to add another member to our family will only make our family bigger and better with more love to go around.” How did I ever get so lucky?
He’s absolutely right. Life can only get better. I can’t wait to enjoy the journey with him.

The Reluctant Bride
I had a plan.
My life and career were starting to take off and head in the direction I always dreamed of.
I wasn't looking for a relationship or love.
Then she stumbled into my hotel room and into my life. Literally falling at my feet.
She was drunk.
It was an innocent mistake.
That would have been the end of it. Except she’s the President’s daughter. I’m a young congressman and we got caught together.
Did I mention I was almost naked in the photos that were splashed around the country?
Now we need to play the game of politics by getting married to get the press off our backs.
You also don’t say no to the President when he asks you to protect his daughter.
My reluctant bride is unhappy and making my life hell.
She insists sex is off the table.
Little does she know I’m not one to walk away from a challenge.
