'Later you almost did,' she reminded him.

'Yes, and I'd do it again and make a better job of it this time,' he assured her, with such curt relish she shivered. 'Let's forget about him, though,' his glance went longingly over her. 'While I can still think straight I want to explain about our honeymoon. I took you to Mexico City because I thought, by combining a little business with seeing my friends, I would be able to keep our marriage on a purely friendly basis until you got used to it. Unfortunately it didn't work out quite like that, although I did my best to be guilty of only one lapse, but I wished afterwards with all my heart that I'd been more gentle.'

'I was only unhappy,' Zoe confessed, blushing crimson, 'because you didn't sleep with me again.'

'Ah, was that what was wrong, my love?' His mouth quirked in sudden amusement, while his eyes gleamed wickedly on her hot cheeks and towel-clad body. 'Well, I promise I'm going to make up for lost time,' his voice deepened in a threatening nature. 'You're my wife and I love you and want you, but I must warn you,' he teased softly, 'those nightdresses your grandmother gave you, she'll be saying in five years' time how well they've worn, because you might never have them on.'

Zoe giggled, beginning to feel strangely lightheaded as desire flared in Reece's eyes. He teased, but that was only on the surface. Underneath she recognised his need-roughened emotions, the slaking of whichpromised ecstasy. She let her hands slide to his shoulders, trying not to notice how he was deftly removing her towel. As air touched her smooth body she shivered, but it was only momentarily.

'Darling,' she murmured daringly, her heart beating frantically, 'if a bath is permissible in the middle of the day, do you think . . .?'

She got no further. With a huskily drawn breath Reece bent her back to the bed, kissing her deeply until she responded with a passion which clearly revealed the depth of her feelings. 'Say you love me,' he demanded fiercely against her mouth.

'I love you.' Startled from the pleasure she found in obeying him, she tightened her arms round his neck.

'And I you. Now and always,' he replied passionately, and began kissing her again, arousing in her a dizzying, mindless rapture. 'Do I need to tell you,' he muttered thickly, 'we won't be going anywhere now, or tonight?'.

Zoe raised no objections, being quite certain she only wanted one thing, and that was to stay here with Reece for ever. With a contented sigh she snuggled closer and agreed. Outside the wind increased and a sudden storm blew up, but this time neither of them so much as heard it.
