Zayne and Johan leaned in and peered at the screen. They were lost for words as well. We could only see one person that was in the car though, and I was already on go.

Why Joshua would think he could get away with shooting at Camille was beyond me. Whatever he thought he could’ve done wasn’t going to change that fact that she ain’t want him. Sucker shit for real. If he had an issue, the nigga coulda came at me on some real nigga shit.

“This nigga gotta be stupid as fuck,” Zayne said.

“He is. How you get this?” I asked Unc passing him back the phone.

He took it and placed it back in his pocket.

“Ernestine came up here earlier and told me she felt bad that Camille had to go through that, so she got someone to look into it.”

I laughed. “Are you serious? That bitch know damn well she doesn’t give a fuck. What’s the real reason why she showed you this shit?” I asked him again more firmly, and all Unc did was shoot a hard glare my way. He told me what he knew and showed me what we had, and I had no real right to question him. I was just pissed and ready to get at that pussy ass nigga.

  “That’s all she said.”

I shook my head. At this point, there was no need in figuring out how she got the video and why she really cared. We had access to the nigga that played a role in the situation, and my mind was focused on making sure tonight he took his last breath.

“How’s auntie?” Johan asked, and a tear rolled down my uncles cheek before he quickly wiped it away.

He hasn’t allowed anyone in the room. He gives us one-word responses when we do reach out to him. Shit, this was the first time I’d seen him in a while. Seeing him breaking tore me apart. I moved my chair and embraced him, and he allowed me to hold him. It wasn’t masculine to show emotion, but Unc needed that shit. I couldn’t imagine sitting in a room all day watching your loved one fade away. He didn’t have to say that she wasn’t getting any better because if there was good news, he would tell us.

Unc always spent all his life shielding us, and I know this was what he was doing by keeping us away from this part. Auntie probably had a few more days to live, or the doctors let him know at this point there was nothing that they could do, but he wasn’t going to tell us that.

We offered to stay with him, but he refused to let us stay around automatically turning back into the shielded cold man he’s been for the past few weeks. We left, and Zayne decided that he’d find out where Joshua was located and we could make our move tonight. I was eager to get this shit over and done with. He wasn’t the one to pull the trigger, but I’m sure he could lead us in the direction of whoever was responsible.

Camille was buried underneath the covers, and I stood at the end of the bed peering down at her. Man, this girl had me going soft for her, but she definitely turned me into the man I needed to be.

Looking at her exposed shoulder snapped me back into reality that I had business to take care of. I was dressed in all black from head to toe. I secured my nine in my waist and grabbed my phone before setting the alarm and jumping into the unmarked car Zayne grabbed.

“Took you long enough!” Zayne spat, and I mushed his head after sliding into the back seat of the little ass Honda.

“Fuck that. You couldn’t get a better car for us to ride in? This shit small as fuck and I’m catching a charlie horse.”

“You ain’t that tall nigga,” Zayne told me.

“Fuck outta here. I need room to stretch my legs. You got my shit bunched up back here.”

“Unless you want to walk, shut the fuck up.”

I mushed him in his head again, and he started the car and pulled off.

  “So where we headed?”

“I found out the little nigga lives in badlands. He was at Dynasty earlier, but I got the call that he left like over an hour ago with Nina.”

The car got quiet, and I’m sure they were probably waiting for me to react. I didn’t know why because that girl was no longer my problem. Shit, she wasn’t even my issue when I was fucking. Clearly, she was down for the team or a dick hopper which was cool. Last time I checked, she was fucking with Burge, but to be with Joshua, it was surprising.

“I’m fucking with you. He left with somebody, but I don’t know who. We need to make sure we make this shit clean, in and out.”

Instead of going on and entertaining Zayne’s bullshit. I rolled up a blunt in the back of the car when he passed me the sack of weed. This nigga always had that good shit on deck.

“Why you ain’t tell us you had a girlfriend, Johan.”

“She’s not my girlfriend,” he spoke, and I lit the blunt.

“She’s something because you know exactly who I’m speaking about.”

  “Well, she’s not my girlfriend.”

“She’s something special. You went from being the super faithful daddy of the year to dropping Tab and having that fine ass woman come around. You can’t tell me you don’t want her,” Zayne added.

“You want Keira to know you feel that way?” Johan turned to Zayne who took the blunt from me.

“Man, I ain’t even trying to have no problems with that crazy girl. I was just letting you know that shawty was nice.”

“That’s cool and all… but she’s gonna be mine soon so keep your eyes where they belong.”

“Ohhhhhh!” I instigated from the back cracking back up. “Stella got his groove back.”

“Fuck you too, nigga!” he spat at me trying to swing from the front, but his big ass was built like the hulk and could barely move in the lowrider Honda Zayne was pushing.

“A’ight, this is it,” Zayne said pulling onto a back block and killing the engine. I was the first to get out even though I had no clue where the hell we were going.

When we pulled up, we noticed somebody was standing in front of the building Zayne pointed at. I looked closely and saw it was Joshua. Even with it being pitch black his eyes got round as fuck, and he took off running like Usain Bolt.

“This nigga!” I huffed mad as shit I was high and was forced to chase this nigga. I was the first to hop out of the car, and it was just my luck Joshua fell face forward onto the concrete. I caught up to him and yanked him up by his shirt and slammed him into the light pole.

His shit was mangled from the fall. I’m sure a couple of teeth were missing because his whole entire mug was covered in blood.

I punched him in his face just for making me run. My chest was heaving up and down hard as shit.

“Man, Asahd, I ain’t even do shit,” he whined hawking up a mixture of saliva and blood and spitting on the ground next to him.

I released him but took my gun out and pointed it his way just so his stupid ass ain’t run again. By now Hulk and Thor finally caught up to me after my ass done did all the footwork.

“So what the fuck you running for?!” I barked at him really mad I had to sprint to his ass.

“Man! I don’t know. I was scared. You always hitting me in my face.”

Zayne burst out laughing which summoned a few chuckles out of me. This nigga was a bitch for real.

“Not only are you a bitch, but you’re a fucking liar. You were in that car that shot at Camille. If it wasn’t you who the fuck was it?”

“What you talking about?” he mumbled, and I pulled back the hammer ready to cover his body with holes just to make him suffer.

When he heard the clicking of the hammer, he started shaking and begging. “A’ight man. Don’t shoot me. You got me nervous as shit.”

“I don’t got all fucking night!”

“I don’t know the nigga who shot at her. But Burge scooped me up to talk business, and I realized the guy that was driving pulled up next to a car and started shooting. I swear I didn’t know it was her. I had nothing to do with it.”

I looked from Zayne and Johan who both shrugged their shoulders. I’m sure they wanted me to just kill Joshua and get it over with, but I felt he was going to be useful. The video made him guilty by as
sociation, and he was going to die eventually once we got the real culprits. Who it was was still the question in the air.

“If I find out you’re lying to me I’m going to make sure you suffer a long, painful death.”

“I swear on my momma, I don’t know who shot at her.”

  “Was it Burge?” Johan asked.

“Naw, why would I let that nigga shoot at Camille?”

That shit had me hot. He was talking about her as if it was his job to protect. Before I could even think about what I was doing, I sent the butt of my gun crashing into his skull. He whimpered loudly and dropped to the ground.

I crouched down next to him. Joshua was balled up in a fetal position holding his now leaking head. I was itching to kill him because I felt like he was lying and still trying to claim my girl.

“Remember what the fuck I said and keep Camille’s name out ya fucking mouth.”

I stood up and walked away, and my brothers followed behind me.

“Cross the line, speak about mine, I’ma wave this TEC, I’ma geek about mine,” Zayne rapped the lyrics to Jay-Z Part II (On The Run).

Even Johan had to crack up at his stupid ass yet I was hot and now was not the time to fuck with me. He was right though, whether it was a joke, rap, song or poem. Camille belongs to ME. That nigga had some underlying meaning talking about some why would I let that nigga shoot at her? This was the same nigga that gave her hell and basically gave niggas permission to push up on her because he was insecure as fuck. The thought alone had me wanting to go back and put one in him.

“All jokes aside, we gotta figure this shit out ASAP,” Johan spoke.

“You think he lying?” Zayne asked him once he got back in the car.

“Doesn’t matter at this point. What’s important is that he saw who shot at her. When they go down everyone present in the car is going down.”

“Something is telling me Burge had something to do with it.”

“At least we have an idea. Let’s get the fuck outta here and let playboy go home and cuddle with his girl so his ass can calm down,” Johan stated.

Zayne started the car and pulled off, and I got as comfortable as I could, lost in my own thoughts. If I had to end this shit on my own, I was going to. Everything was becoming too personal, and I wasn’t going to allow anything else to happen to Camille.

  BURGE

  “Nina!”

“What?!” she spat finally coming to me after I called her simple ass five times already.

“How many times I gotta call you?”

“If it was important you would’ve come and got me.”

She was standing in her infamous ghetto girl stance with her hands on her hips and rolling her neck.

My boys at the table snickered from her smart ass comment that got me hot. I flicked one of my cards out and threw it into the pile.

Lately, she’s been getting beside herself, and it made me wonder if she was back fucking with that nigga Asahd again.

“Go get my that blunt wrap on that table over there,” I instructed her.

  “What?”

  “You heard me.”

Nina walked over to the table, and I thought she was doing what I asked her to do but I was smacked in the head with the pack of wraps. If they weren’t snickering earlier, they were all out laughing now.

“Burge, you gotta get ya bitches in check. How you expect me to allow you to run a trap but you can’t run a hoe?” Easy said.

“Bitch? You should be the last muhfucka calling someone outta their name when you tape your titties down and probably walking around with a strap-on.”

The room fell quiet, and all eyes were bouncing back and forth between Easy and Nina. I dropped my cards and dragged my hand down my face regretting I even summoned her ass out the room. Easy wasn’t going to let this shit go and was probably going to make me pay back in labor or money for that shit.

One thing for sure, Nina shut her ass right on up. The doorbell rang and I got up from the table eager to break away from the staredown.

“What the fuck happened to your face?” I yelled once I saw the state Joshua was in.

I stepped aside and let him in. Nina stormed past us and out the door. I was glad she left because I couldn’t deal with her ass right now for that comment she made. Easy was wrong as fuck, but she was putting me onto something I really needed.

“Some shit happened last night, and I came to warn y’all about it.”

  “Speak nigga.”

“So, I was outside smoking because my mom was tripping about me smoking in the crib. So as I’m standing out there, I noticed a car pull up and it was the Moseley’s.”

Joshua paused, and we all looked at him waiting to continue.

  “Nigga! Keep going.”

“I ran, and I fell, so they caught up to me and the nigga Asahd kept punching me in my face and then threatened to shoot me.”

“Yo! Get to the point of the story!” Easy yelled. “I'm tired of looking at ya sorry ass.”

“He asked me about the shooting, and he knew I was in the car,” he stammered. “But I told him I ain’t know shit. I, I, I, I swear.”

“You sure about that? You’re alive and breathing. It gotta be for a reason.”

  “Positive.”

“So what else did you say?” Easy questioned him rising from her chair. She lifted the gun that was on the table and walked closer to him.

Joshua backed into the wall shaking his head from side to side. The front of his jeans got wet indicating he done pissed on himself.

“I didn’t say shit. I just said that Burge came and got me and someone in the car I didn’t know shot at Camille.”

Easy laughed. “Either you said something, or you didn’t.”

“Who told you to say my fucking name, pussy!” I yelled at him pushing him.

Easy held her hand up at me, and I stopped from slapping the shit out of his stupid ass.

“Did you say something?” she asked more firmly.

“I said that,” he cried with tears streaming down his face.

  “Said what.”

“I said… I said… I said that Burge picked me up and someone shot at Camille but I ain’t know the person.”

By now Easy was face to face with him with her hand on her shoulder.

“I understand, there was nothing for you to do. It was three against one.”

“Yeah man. They were fucking me up real bad asking me questions. I didn’t fold though.”

With Easy being so calm, he relaxed, and she kept telling him she understood which confused the shit out of me.

When she pointed the gun at Joshua’s head and blew his shit off even I was surprised. His brain matter and blood splattered all over me staining my fresh Polo Tee.

“Aye, you could’ve warned a nigga,” I said to her, and she pointed that shit at me.

  “You want to be next?”

“A’ight now. You doing the most. I ain’t got shit to do with young bull running his fucking mouth.”

“Call someone to clean this shit the fuck up.”

I shook my head mad as fuck she had to kill his ass in my crib. That was too much of a fucking mess but right now wasn’t the time to be on her bad side and with Nina’s smart ass comment I was walking that line of being on it.

I pulled my phone out from my pocket and dialed up the clean-up crew looked at Joshua’s lifeless body. He shoulda took that L getting fucked up by the Moseley’s. They may have shot him, but his destiny was already written. I had an idea how them niggas worked, and they were going to kill him regardless.

Easy sat back at the table and picked back up her cards. “Who’s next?” she asked referring to the card game, but the niggas were too shook to even respond because they must’ve thought she was referring to getting shot at.

I sat back down at the table and gathered back up the cards because we needed to start over anyway.

“Let this be a lesson learned. You open your mouth, you lose your life. I
worked too hard for this shit to allow it to sink because of fear them little niggas put in y’all heart. Do I make myself clear?”

Everyone agreed although months ago these were the same men that weren’t down with me when it came to taking over the Moseley Empire. As crazy as it may sound, they respected the fuck out of Easy and believed in her. They praised her as if she was some type of God and put all their trust in her without a second thought. It had me vexed because these were all niggas I considered to be days ones, but whether they follow me or her, I was still going to be running shit. As long as I ain’t have them muhfuckas dictating how I moved my pack and broke it down, I was good.

  EASY

“Call up Zayne and let him know we need more work.”

“We just got work a few weeks ago, and the shit is sitting. It’s slow now.”

  “Did I ask you that?”

“I’m just letting you the fuck know,” Nyzie shot back.

“Just do as I fucking say, man.”

“You’re forgetting I’m actually your partner rather than your fucking minion.”

“Stop crying. If I could explain the shit to you right now, but I’m busy.”

I glanced over at Karla who was fully facing me with her eyebrows in a deep arch. The second I hung up she was either going to fire away with questions or talk a lot of shit which I didn’t feel like hearing at the moment.

“A’ight. I’ll let you know what’s going on once everything is set.”

I hung up the phone and Karla started going off.

“So I thought we were going out?”

“Aren’t we on our way to the fucking mall?” I spat at her. “That’s where you wanted to go right?”

“Yes, but I feel like you’re trying to ditch me.”

“I’m with you now. That should be all that matters. You’re pissing me off with your fucking nagging.”
