Illusory Moon_A Passion Moon Romance Page 13

by Renee Jordan

I stood up and stretched my back. “Well, I'm ready to go. Thomas is taking me out tonight.”

A wolfish grin appeared on her lips. “And how is Thomas?”

  “Amazing.”

“I had a one night stand with him once.” Veronica shuddered. “He made me howl.”

I giggled at her. “Oh, he does the same thing to me. My toes curl and my hair stands up on end.”

  “Good.”

Veronica unlocked the door with a keycard. The Moonrise Sheriff Department had gotten a grant from the Federal Government a few years back to modernize their security. I stepped into the hallway and we passed the holding cells. A few drunks, a pair of them members of the Donovan clan, snored in the cell.

I shook my head at the sight. “The coyotes are back.”

“Yes,” snarled Veronica, giving the drunks a contemptuous glance. “Caught them running a poker game all drunk out of their minds at noon. Curs.” Veronica spat.

We reached the next door, and she swiped her keycard, the lock buzzed, and she yanked it open. We entered the police department proper, passing the desks set with computers and covered in papers. Deputies moved through the room all with the same wolfish grace.

Every deputy was part of Forrest's pack.

Veronica's phone chirped. She pulled it out of her pocket and frowned. “Really?” she muttered.

  “What?”

For a moment, her smile flashed across her face, not her normally hungry, wolfish smile, but something approaching joy or excitement. And then it was gone, replaced by a sneer. “Just an asshole I used to know.”

  “Old boyfriend.”

Her green eyes glinted. “Something like that.” She shook her head. “You can find your own way out?”

“I can. You should text him back. Maybe you can have fun.”

Her eyes were dangerous but the smile played on her lips.

I laughed and stepped out into the beautiful, summer day. My steps were light. Lexie had agreed to the deal. She would have her stint in jail and then have her whole life before her. I breathed in the air. Moonrise was a magical place.

  “Penny.”

I jumped and whirled. Thomas lurked in the shadows cast by the brick building, leaning against the wall, looking far too yummy in a t-shirt stretched across his deep chest and broad shoulders. I shook my head at him. “I don't have your senses. You don't have to scare me.”

“But you smell so exciting when you jump,” he grinned.

“Ooh, are you going to be a bad bear today?”

“So bad.” He moved to me, towering over me, and swept me into his arms. He lifted me with ease. He was more than strong enough to handle all my curves. I threw my arms around his neck, clinging tight, and kissed him hard.

Damn, he was a good kisser.

My feet dangled as he held me, one hand cupping my plump rear. My nipples hardened in my bra. I squirmed against him, our lips moving, sharing passion. He had so much to share. Bears loved so fiercely, so honestly. Thomas never held back with me.

Damn, I was such a lucky girl. I didn't deserve this life. I only got it by running, by abandoning my friend.

Tears burned my cheeks. I thought I cried myself dry with Lexie. Guess I was wrong. They fell hot down my cheeks and reached our lips. Salt entered the kiss. Thomas's lips froze. He broke the kiss, staring into my eyes.

  “What's wrong?”

“I'm such a selfish cunt.” The emotion hoarsened my words.

He shook his head. “Penny, you are the exact opposite.”

I squirmed in his arms and he set me on my feet. I looked at the police station. “No, I'm not. I ran from her when she needed me. I only have this wonderful life, and you, because of it. If I stayed I never would have come to Moonrise.

“I never would have met you. I don't deserve this.”

“People rarely get what they deserve in life.” Thomas's arm went around my shoulders. He pulled my face to his broad chest. I put my arms around his waist, rubbing my face into his shirt, soaking it with my tears. “Life is too complicated to get what you deserve. People make bad decisions and sometimes good things come of it. Sometimes not. Sometimes you make good decisions and bad things still happen.”

“Still makes me selfish for enjoying this. For not wanting to give it up.”

“You marched into the bus depot to save your friend. Then she fired a gun at you and you still fought for her.”

  “She missed on purpose.”

“So? What if she hadn't? And still you fought for her. You worked hard to make sure she could have a new life here. So she could find the happiness that your supposed selfishness got you.”

“What else would you call running from a friend when she needed me.”

“Fear. You saw something terrible. None of us know how we'll react to seeing true pain. Most are lucky to never witness it. Don't blame yourself because you broke. Most of us would. Focus on the good that came of it. Your happiness and the life you're creating for your friend.

“She doesn't have to run anymore, either.”

I took in a deep breath and stared up at him. “Thank you.”

  He smiled at me.

“You are getting a special reward.” My grin turned kinky.

  “I don't need a reward. Your smile's enough.”

I snorted in laughter. “That is the corniest thing I have ever heard.” I beamed at him. “And damn if it didn't make my heart flutter. And you are getting a special reward because you are an amazing man. I love you.” I rose on my tiptoe and whispered one word into his ear.

He let out a growl and swept me into his arms. “Why don't we skip dinner?”

I laughed as he carried me easily. “Randy bear.”

“Can you blame me?” he grinned, his hand squeezing my ass as he carried me to his truck.

“Nope.” I grinned. “I'm feeling pretty randy myself. I blame your muscles. Just the sight of them makes every woman in Moonrise swoon.”

He kissed me again. Damn, if he wasn't the most perfect kisser. I clung to him, cradled in his strong arms, and didn't care that the entire town of Moonrise could see our lips locked. Let them watch and get so jealous. I hoped all their faces turned green.

I had a hunky bear shifter who loved me. Damn, if that wasn't something spectacular.

Hot Preview of “Howling Passion (Passion Moon 1)”

My feet slapped as I came down the stairs, my hips swaying. My nipples were hard, dimpling the front of my nightshirt. I couldn't remember the last time a man had excited me this much. Maybe the first night I had seen Burt play, and he had made love to me with his eyes, I had been this excited.

But that was so long ago, the memory soured by the monster Burt had become.

Tonight would be far more glorious.

“Kotie,” Forrest smiled as he rose from the couch before the fire, setting a paperback book to the side. “What do you need?”

  “You,” I purred, striding forward.

That cocky, self-possessed, feral grin spread on his face. His excitement swelled, bulging the front of his jeans. I licked my lips. He was big. A shudder washed through me as I padded closer, my bare feet swishing across the bear-skin rug.

His arms enfolded me. His lips mashed against mine. He kissed me, devouring my lips, his strong arms wrapping about me. I let him hold me, my body pressed against his hard muscles. I moaned into his kiss, my arms hugging his neck, clinging to him.

I felt so amazingly safe, so wonderfully desired in his arms.

Forrest's hands slid down my back, each seizing a cheek of my bubbly butt. He squeezed me, pulling me against his bulge. My hips writhed, rubbing against his passion. He throbbed hard and my pussy clenched. I couldn't wait to feel him in me.

“Kotie,” he groaned, his lips sucking at my neck, kissing up to my ear. H
is teeth nipped me. He growled, hungry as he feasted.

“Oh, Sheriff,” I groaned, my hands roaming Forrest's hard body. I dipped beneath his shirt, sliding up his back. My clitoris brushed against his bulge, pleasure rippling through me. “Ravish me,” I groaned, my fingernails biting into his back. “I've never...oh, yes...you're driving me...oh, Sheriff!”

His teeth nipped my ears. “You smell delicious,” he groaned.

“I haven't showered in two days,” I groaned.

“Your musk...” He growled, low and throaty. “I'm going to eat you up.”

“Devour me,” I panted as he pulled me down to the bear-skin rug.

His hands grabbed the hem of my nightshirt. I held my arms up, letting Forrest pull it over my body, mussing my red hair even worse. I didn't care. We would writhe in passion.

Forrest's hands seized my breasts. I gasped as he kneaded my round flesh, his rough thumbs brushing my hard nipples. I sank onto my back, the bear-skin rug tickling my sensitive skin. His mouth descended, nipping my hard nipple before engulfing between his lips.

“Oh, yes!” I groaned as his tongue swirled about my nub before sucking hard. He was hungry, engulfing as much of my breast as he could, stirring pleasure down to my fiery pussy.

Forrest released my nipple, kissing and licking his way to my other breast. His tongue trailed up my breast, reaching my nub. He circled, then nipped it. The shock of pain mixed with the pleasure. I loved it.

My fingers scratched at his T-shirt. I needed to see his muscular form. I pulled at his shoulders, his shirt bunching around his neck. With a growl, he rose, ripping his shirt off and throwing it near the crackling fire.

Forrest was muscled like a Renaissance statue. My eyes widened in awe. Sweat gleamed on his perfectly sculpted pecs, and his abs rippled with a six pack. Tattooed across his body was barbwire, the barbs digging into his flesh. He looked chained in the black wire, his muscular physique restrained somehow by ink. His arms were as thick as my legs, the left wrapped in a thick, white bandage.

“Oh, Lord, you are gorgeous,” I moaned.

Hot Preview of “Night's Beauty (The Valkyrie's Passion 0)”

I was almost sad when the bike's engine cut off. My legs shook as I dismounted. Magnus seized me, pulling me to him. He stared into my eyes, studying me. I shivered, holding him tight. I knew this was wrong. I knew I would regret this. But I had to have him tonight. One night of passion.

  “What?” I asked.

“Making sure this is what you want.”

“Is it?” I asked, rubbing harder against him.

“You've wanted it since you laid eyes on me...” He arched his eyebrows, inviting me to supply a name.

  “I'm Raven.”

“A magnificent bird,” he answered and kissed me.

Everything vanished except Magnus. There was no parking lot. There was no cold wind. There was no seedy motel. There was only the wolfish biker's arms wrapped about my body, holding me tight. His body was so hard against my soft curves. His hand slid down and squeezed my ass. I moaned as he kneaded me, pulling me harder against his bulge.

I never wanted the kiss to end. My heart thudded in my chest. No kiss had ever made the world spin about me. I clung to him. I was afraid if I let go I would drown in our passion. My arms tightened about his neck.

When he broke the kiss, I realized he was taller than me. Over six feet. I liked it. It was nice to look up into a man's strong, passionate face. “You are all mine for the night.”

  “Yes,” I moaned.

He leaned down and scooped me up, throwing me over his shoulder. I giggled as my hair fell down around my face. I squirmed, playfully trying to escape. But my biker warrior had captured me and was carrying me off.

“What are you going to do to me?” I moaned.

“Enjoy you.” His hand slid up beneath my skirt to pat my ass through my satin panties.

“Yes,” I moaned. “Ravish me.” I closed my eyes, picturing him in Viking furs and carrying me back to his longboat. I was his plunder tonight. He vanquished Talon and had claimed me.

I squeezed my thighs together as the liquid heat burned hotter inside me.
