Yet. That sounded good and a promise for the future. Mary’s eyes went to his dick. “I want to suck you off then.” She smiled when she saw his body jerk at her words. “I have never done that to any man. I’ve never wanted to. But, you? Please let me taste you, Simon.” Mary crawled over the sheets towards him. “I want you to beg, plead and cry my name out.” She dropped her head down and sucked in the cock head before her.

  “Oh, Mary…”

The choked sound from his lips was all she needed. She placed her hands on his thighs and worked her mouth and tongue up and down the shaft of his dick. She had no idea what she was doing but she had fun learning and the feeling of power it gave her was enormous. Knowing this man needed her was a rush like no other.

And the sound of his moans and the giving of such pleasure to him, made her stroke her hand harder along the veined shaft as she sucked.

Simon pulled her head up. “Stop! I’m going to come.”

Mary licked her lips. “Come in my mouth.”

He jerked in surprise. “Are you sure?”

In answer to that, her mouth once more covered his dick and she sucked him hard as she worked at milking him dry. She felt his hands on her head, caressing her scalp as he tried to choke back the cries of pleasure. Mary was pleased to know she wasn’t the only one out of control. When he came in her mouth, his strangled cry of release and bitter, musky rush of cum made Mary clutch at his thighs and work his dick until he was shaking and begging her to stop. She did, when it suited her. She looked down at the man now flopped down on the bed. The intense look of satisfaction on Simon’s face pleased her.

“And you’ve never done that before?”

“Nope.” Mary was now hornier than hell.

  “You’re very good at it.”

“Thank you.” Mary slid her fingers down to her pussy. She felt itchy with need.

“No, thank you.” Simon’s eyes widened as he watched the path of her hand.

“Oh, hell no, lady, not on my watch.” He reached up and grabbed her foot, tumbling Mary onto her back.

Before she could move Simon was between her thighs and his mouth on her clit. Mary had never had a lover lick her there. She cried out as his tongue lapped back and forward in a fast, frenzied motion that had her hips rising from the bed for more. “Oh, Simon…” Her hands gripped at his head. When he shoved two fingers inside her cunt and started thrusting in and out of her body in a rapid moment, she yelled for him not to stop. She didn’t care if the neighbors heard or what they thought. She panted as her head thrashed from side to side as she felt the beginnings of an orgasm that she knew she would never forget. Her whole body shook as she tried to hang onto the feeling but it was useless. A surge of excitement so wild and fierce tore from her cunt up her spine and rattled her senses. She screamed out his name over and over, begging and pleading for him not to stop.

Later as Mary lay half draped over his back because she had wanted to touch and taste his tattoos, she felt a sense of peace that she never imagined existed. This man that she barely knew, had come into her life and tuned it upside down. Mary knew she would never be the same. “Who are you really, Simon?”

“Just a man—your man. The rest you’ll have to trust me on.”

Trust him? That was easy. Mary had already given him her heart.

  Chapter Six

Simon wasn’t there when she got to work. Mary told herself that was a good thing as she had no idea what she was going to say or how she would feel when they met up once more. She wasn’t the type of woman who had many random lovers and had developed a hardness that allowed her to move on from one so easily. While some men were pleasant interludes, Simon she wanted forever. That was crazy because he was gone by the time she woke up. Forever people didn’t just up and leave. You woke up in each other’s arms and contemplated how you would spend the day, the week, the next month and the rest of your lives together or at least that’s what happened in Harlequin romance books.

But, it was probably a good thing he had left before she awoke. Mary was unsure what to say to him after last night. A lot of intense feelings and deep fervent words had been exchanged between them and that was weird for people who had just met. But, there it was. Things were weird and great. Despite the fact Mary felt sore from the passion of his body on hers, there was a feeling of peace and completeness. That seemed mad because in the past, Mary would have rolled her eyes if someone had of mentioned another completing them. But now? She understood what they meant and it scared her. She didn’t doubt he meant everything he said at the time, but he was also someone who was well beyond her league. She worked in a small office. He owned a huge chunk of Australia. He could have what and whomever he wanted. Why would he want her? She had to resolve herself to that and realize what had happened between them—while it was wonderful and enjoyable—it didn’t mean they were going to live the fairytale ending.

Mary wasn’t surprised that the office was fully staffed when she arrived. She suspected it was due to the fact that Vernon had probably done a ring around and warned everyone to be in or else. Vernon said ‘or else’ a lot. As yet, no one knew what ‘or else’ was. Mary suspected it wasn’t much and she wasn’t the type to be scared by words.

It was an office of people who rarely spoke or acknowledged anything other than free food. She couldn’t have met people less like her. Their greed appalled her but she told herself that it was just a job and to get on with it. Teamwork in their office? Non-existent. Let them eat cake? Just watch your hands when they had a fork in theirs.

She looked at Vernon as he came towards her. In the 1970’s it probably had been deemed cool for men to have permed hair. But now? It was just sad and sorry looking on a man of fifty. As for the fake, too-bronzed tan he sported? It made him look like a man who was trying too hard to look young. Trying and failing. If he had been a nicer person to work with, Mary would have felt sorry for him. But he wasn’t, and she rarely paid attention to Vernon’s orders when it came to the office.

“You look different,” he said as he came up to her.

Mary arched one eyebrow at his skinny leg trousers with the waistband that she guessed sat on his hips if she could have seen his hips under the roll of stomach fat the overhung his belt. “You’re rarely in the office, Vernon. I’m amazed you remember what I look like at times.” She dropped her bag into her desk drawer.

Mary wondered what he would have said if she told him she had been fucked by Simon Mayhew and she liked it. A lot.

“I heard he was in yesterday. What did you say about me?”

‘He’ meaning Simon she guessed. “Strangely enough, your name didn’t get mentioned. Seemingly you’re not on his mind.”

“Well, that’s all right then.” Vernon looked pleased for a second then, as if the penny dropped, he looked at her in concern. “Isn’t it? What do you think that means?”

Mary would have liked to have pointed out that if no one cares enough to mention you it generally meant you’re insignificant to them. Let Vernon work that out himself. “He’s here checking the place out.” And confusing me. Feelings. They were the worst.

“He can’t get rid of us.”

Mary would have if it was her company as they weren’t the slightest bit profitable and that mainly had to do with the man she was looking at. “Yeah, he can.” While finding a new job was always a drag, Mary knew there were jobs to be had if you persevered.

“I won’t allow it.” Vernon pulled at the belt of his trousers in a distinctly, empty male gesture of less than impressive strength before he stomped off.

“Good luck with that,” Mary murmured as she sat down at her desk just as the subject they were discussing entered the building. Mary’s eyes lifted to his, her heart banging away in her chest. What would he say? How did he feel? Did last night mean as much to him as it did her and where did they go from here?

“Good morning.” The words were said with polite nod. “Is Vernon in?”

  It was like they
were people who barely knew each other and not lovers who shared an intense, earth shattering intimacy. Mary reached out and gripped a nearby pen in her hand. Fine. Whatever. Who cares. Problem was she did care. Mary mentally slapped herself. You’re such an idiot. It was just sex. He’s rich. He doesn’t need you. He doesn’t have to promise forever. “Yes, Vernon is in. His office is the last on the left.” She watched as Simon acknowledged her words with a nod and strode down the corridor. “No, really, I’m fine. Last night?” she mumbled to herself.

“No, of course I didn’t expect anything from you, at all.”

“Mary, are you taking to yourself?” Duane, the IT nerd questioned.

  “Yes.”

  “That’s not normal.”

Mary snorted. “Yeah, right, like this office is normal.”

Thirty minutes later, Mary felt her skin start to goose bump. That was odd in Cairns. She considered maybe the air conditioning was on too high until she saw the man. Tall, blond haired with the palest blue eyes she had ever seen. She hadn’t even heard him come in. He seemed to have appeared out of nowhere.

“Is Simon Mayhew in?” he asked, stopping before her office door.

“Why?” That wasn’t Mary’s normal response to people at her desk, but he made her feel instantly on edge and suspicious.

  “I’m an old friend.”

“I think not.” When she heard the words come out of her mouth, she was surprised. Yet, she knew them to be true. An overwhelming feeling of malevolence was emanating from this man. “What do you want?”

“Who are you to question me?”

Mary snorted. “Sunshine, I can do what I like. Now state your reason, or get out.”

Duane called out. “Maybe he wants to buy a shed, Mary.”

“And maybe you should stop living at home with your mother,” Mary snapped back at him. She wasn’t surprised Duane didn’t stand up and say that or even make an effort to approach the man. Rarely did Duane interact with customers and to be honest there were times that Mary wondered what the hell he did.

“I see,” the man responded as his gaze focused on hers.

“What?” Mary could outstare the best of them but this man? It was like she was looking into a vortex.

  “You’re Mayhew’s woman.”

Yes. That she thought that way surprised Mary. “I am my own woman.”

The blond man leaned in close to her. Only the fake marble barrier of her desk separated them. “So you think.”

Mary made herself keep eye contact. “So I know.”

He laughed at her words. “I do want to like you, but arrogant women annoy me.”

  “Boo-hoo for you.”

“Tell him I was here, Mary.”

“And you are?” Mary asked coolly as she stood up to face him.

  “Sholto.”

“As in ‘the magnificent?’” she responded in a smart ass manner to let him know she wasn’t scared of him.

“You’re too much like Mayhew. That’s a problem. He cannot be allowed to mate with a like force.”

Before Mary could ask what he meant, the blond man was gone. “Freaky.”

“My mother wants me to live at home with her,” Duane’s reported in a weak, less than convincing voice.

“Whatever.” It was then Simon appeared.

“Where is he?” Simon had been trying to talk some sense to Vernon, which he found almost impossible as the man was scared of his own shadow, when he felt an evil presence lurking nearby. Instantly he thought of Sholto.

“Who?” Mary’s tone was careful and cool as she stood up.

Simon knew she wasn’t happy with his lack of recognition of her when he came into the office. He had wanted to pull her into his arms and hold her close, breathing in the scent of the woman he was addicted to. She was his soul mate. The problem with that was that brought danger to her. That Sholto had even come to this office meant he knew there was a link between them. “Sholto.”

“He left just before you came out. How did you know he was here?”

Simon could have said he felt the evil in the room and was desperate to ensure nothing happened to Mary but he wasn’t sure, in light of her cool attitude, how she would take that. Soon Mary would know more about his life. The thought that he might scare her away, made Simon want to be careful how he handled his romance with this woman. “What did he want?”

“You and he have a lot of attitude,” Mary responded, hands on her hips, her tone less than respectful when it came to her employer.

“Mary scared him away,” Duane interjected. “If we’ve lost a shed sale because of her—”

  “Oh, shut up, Duane.”

“You can’t talk to me like that.”

Simon almost smiled. He loved spirit in a woman. Mary had it to burn. “Yes, she can.” Employee relations and team building were not on his agenda. Mary was.

“I need to talk to you.”

She arched her eyebrow. “A ‘talk’ like last night?”

Yes. “No—maybe. Would you want to do that again?” It wasn’t a subject he should have brought up. Too many people were watching them. Simon didn’t care what they thought of him, however Mary’s reputation was different.

“Did you need me to call you a taxi?”

Simon had no intention of being ushered out of her life. “Do you have a car?”

He smiled when he saw the surprise in her eyes.

  “Yes, but—”

Simon went around to her side of the desk and took her hand. He liked the way it instantly curled into his like it belonged. “Let’s go for a drive. I want to show you something.”

  “But I have to work—”

“I’m the boss, Mary. I make the rules.” Simon waited for her to pick up her car keys and he walked her out of the office. As they shut the door, Mary heard what her colleagues said.

“I knew she was sleeping with him.”

“She’s such a stuck up tart.”

  “My mother does need me.”

Mary looked at Simon. “Please tell me you’re going to sack them.”

“Oh yeah, they’re gone.” He had already made that decision long before he met Mary. It was one of the main reasons he had come to Cairns.

“Because they said mean things about me?”

“No, because they’re useless.” He lifted her hand to his lips and kissed her knuckles. Simon felt the shiver that ran through her body. “What small people say about us is not important because they’re not important. Besides I know you can hold your own against them.”

  “Who are you?”

“Why do you keep asking that?”

  “You’re real, but you’re not.”

Simon placed the palm of her hand on his chest. “Feel that. I’m real. I’m yours.” The sweet surprise in her eyes warmed his heart. He knew he had confused her when he had first come into the office. But then, he wanted to create a distance as he was there to confront Vernon. Now? He was hers completely and there was nothing he wouldn’t do for Mary. “I want to show you something that will help you understand who I am.”

Simon’s dick was buried deep inside Mary. Her legs were wrapped around his waist holding him close and tight as if she never wanted him to leave her body. This was who he was. He was Mary’s man. He wanted her to know it and believe it.

After they had left the office, he had been going to show her the half door at the post office and explain what he really did in life and the stuff that meant more to him than amassing wealth. But he changed his mind. Simon wanted Mary to take in what extravagance and luxury could be bought with the money he had. He needed to see her reaction to it. While her eyes had widened as he had stopped at, then ushered her into the most ridiculously opulent penthouse his Sydney office had hired for his stay in Cairns, after she took it all in, Mary just stood and looked at him.

  “Wow.”

  “Impressed?”

She looked thoughtful as she glanced around one more time. “Not really.”

Simon chuckled. In his heart he knew that was exactly what she would say

  “Why not?”

“It’s just a building and people are more than just what they own.”

He reached out and took her hand. “So you’re not overawed by my money or what it could buy you?”

“No, I mean I like money, but in the end it’s not everything.” She curled her hand into his. “You know, my mother has probably just fainted and she’s not sure why. She’s ambitious that we marry well. Unfortunately for her, Fran is the only one doing her proud by getting married to a man who frankly reminds me of bland custard.”

“And you want more?” Simon already knew the answer.

  “Yes, I can’t stand custard.”

“What do you want, lovely Mary?”

I want you. That was the answer. But was it a realistic one? Sure, they had enjoyed great sex and she felt more alive with Simon than anyone she had ever met but that didn’t spell longevity or a relationship. “Why me? Out of all the women you could have, why are you here with me?”

  “Because you’re beautiful.”

“Hardly.” And yet Simon made her feel that way.

Simon pulled her into his arms. “You are and don’t fight me on that because I know better.” He leaned in and kissed her lips softly. “Mary, I want you to understand me. Yes, I have money. Yes, I can take you to a place like this and dazzle you but I want you to be dazzled by me, the man, and not the place.”

“Trust me, I am.” When she looked into his eyes she could see and feel forever with Simon.

  “Are you?”

  “Yes.”

  “Why?”

“Because,” Mary hesitated and blew out a breath as she wondered what to say to this man. They had only just met and yet she wanted to know everything about him. Was that too needy or desperate? Was she going to come across as someone who wanted him just for his money? Because she didn’t. Visions of him naked flooded her mind. That’s what I want. I want the man. Naked. Clothed. Smiling.

Soulful. Happy. She could see in his eyes that Simon wanted to know more because somehow it was important to him. Mary had no idea why it would be and yet if he needed her in some simple way then she wanted to give that to him. “You make me feel good about who I am.”
