“No, I’m sorry.” Tears pool in my gaze.
“How many times am I gonna hear that from you?” He hits the wall we’re standing against.
“Let me explain.” I want him to hear me out, but I don’t think he will right now.
“No need. Pretty sure I understand: You ended it with Snake and jumped in bed with the man I thought was my father my entire life!” He spews the words at me.
“I’m sorry.” I don’t know what else to say.
“I gotta go.” He shakes his head and leaves, taking off after the doctor before I can say any more.
I wait at the hospital in the ICU with Snake until he wakes up. “Hey!” he whispers a few days later.
“Hey!” I mimic.
“What happened?” he questions quietly, trying to move, but hissing out in pain. I hit the call button for a nurse to bring him more of the pain medication they have been putting in his IV.
“You were shot.”
Snake looks up at the ceiling for a few minutes, concentrating. “I remember.” His eyes snap to mine.
“You had to get a blood transfusion, so they tested everyone—two were a perfect match.”
“Who donated?”
“Dominic. But...I have to tell you something.” I take his hand in mine.
“Okay.” His eyes search my features.
I need to just spit it out. “ Dominic was a match because he’s your son.”
“What?! How? What?” He tries to move, but isn’t able to.
“I always thought it was a possibility because, I’m not proud of this, but I met Josie the night we broke up. I couldn’t go home, so I went with her to the Satan’s Sinners clubhouse. I got wasted trying to relieve some of the pain. One thing led to another, and I ended up having sex with Bulk that night.”
He turns his head away. “You kept my son away from me.”
A tear slides down my cheek. “I didn’t know for sure.”
“But… You could have told me it was a possibility since we reconnected. Hell, you could have told me when you were pregnant.”
“No, I couldn’t, because he would have beat the shit out of me. He was so good to Dominic, but what would Bulk have done to him if he found out?” I swipe a tear from my cheek.
“I need some time to process this.” Snake looks away from me.
“I’m sorry. I’ll leave you alone for a little while. The nurse will be bringing in some pain medication, and I’m sure the doctor will join her.” I stand and get to the door.
“Vic,” Snake calls out. Looking over my shoulder, I meet his eyes. “We’ll get through this.”
“I hope so.”
It’s been a couple of months since I was shot. I’ve made a full recovery, but shit with Hanger has been rough. It came as a shock to everyone except Victoria that he’s my son and not Bulk’s.
I was pissed that she never told me and once again I lost the chance to be in my kid’s life. I was pissed that she jumped right into bed with Bulk, but I can’t hold that against her, considering everything that happened with Marie. She came back later that night and we talked. I love her too much to let our pasts ruin us.
Jacey doesn’t know how to feel now that she knows that Hanger is her half-brother. She’s upset at the whole situation, mostly blaming her mom.
Hanger feels like his whole life has been a lie. He doesn’t know how to come to terms with me being his father and not Bulk. He feels like he doesn’t deserve to be the president of the Satan’s Sinners. He even held church, wanting votes to see if he should hold that patch or not.
We are all taking it one day at a time.
