Lee grunted. Kai’s eyes never left mine then he smiled. “We don’t even know if you’re going to stick around. You dumped her not that long ago. You could be on your way out again.” He knew what he was doing.
I leaned forward and sneered, “I’m not going anywhere. In fact, we’re living together. So wipe that smartass look off of your face. You aren’t getting her. She made her decision. She’s mine,” I hissed.
Kai stood and I followed, then Lee. The air was tense. He was going to come at me; I knew it. Sure as shit, he lunged. Lee caught him around the chest with one arm and held him back.
Kai strained against his hold and bellowed, “You aren’t good enough for her!”
“And you are? The rock star who’s never home and has women pawing him. Don’t you think if she wanted you, she would have come to you?” I wasn’t going for him, which I easily could have. It wouldn’t accomplish anything and only result in Kasi being pissed when she found out.
His face was turning various of shades of red. “I’m better for her than you are!”
I barked out a laugh. “That’s fucking hilarious. You might have grown up with her, but I know her now. I know what makes her scream in ecstasy. I know what she likes to eat, drink, the little noises she makes while she sleeps. I’m the one she goes to sleep next to every night, and I’m the one who gets to wake up with her in the morning.” I couldn’t help it. I was inching closer to him. Lee’s other arm shot out straight toward me, keeping me away.
“You aren’t the only one who can make her cry out during sex. I seem to recall doing just that when I was with her.”
“Was! You aren’t with her now and haven’t been since she met me. Doesn’t that tell you something? She chose me, asshole! Not you.” I knew I was only fueling the fire, but I didn’t care. He needed to understand that she was mine and would stay that way.

“Enough!” Lee roared. “Knock it off! Both of you. This isn’t going to get us anywhere, and I hate to admit it, but the dickhead is right,” he said, motioning to me with his head. “Kasi needs us all to get along. She’s been under enough stress, and us behaving like this isn’t going to help.”
Kai stopped struggling against his arm and Lee eased up slowly, making sure he wouldn’t lunge again given the chance. Kai turned and stalked off into the bedroom and slammed the door shut behind him.
Lee scrubbed a hand over his face. “Listen. I get that you and Kasi are serious, but Kai isn’t just going to stop being in love with her at the snap of your fingers. He’s loved her for so long, it’s going to take a while to get over it. And you,” he said fully turning to me. “Stop egging him on. I get that you’re jealous, but knock it the fuck off. You have her. You win. Enough already.”
I shook my head and sat back down in the chair. He had a point. If we were going to pull off that we could tolerate each other in front of her, we needed to start by not wanting to throw fists.
Damn, this was going to be one long day. One, that at the end of, I intended to remind Kasi she made the right choice with me. I wanted her to know, beyond a reasonable doubt, that she belonged to me and me alone. I was being a jealous prick and knew it, however didn’t give a shit at the time.

I offered Kai and Lee a ride to the house in my truck, but they declined. I was really happy about that, considering if I had driven them, then I’d have to drive them back and only prolong the amount of time I had until I could be alone with Kasi. They had a driver to take them.
I beat them to the house, but had to wait at the bottom of the driveway, so Kasi didn’t have to buzz them in and ruin the surprise. Before they pulled up, I shot her a quick text and said to get decent. All I typed was there was someone with me who wanted to see her. She texted back quickly with a few questions, all of which I refused to answer. I knew if she looked at the cameras, she wouldn’t see anyone but me for the moment.
When I saw the black limo pull up behind me, I hit the button on my visor to open the gate. They followed me up the driveway and parked to my right, hidden from the front door, which was to my left. Kasi opened the large door to our home as I shut my truck off. Her blonde hair was hanging loose down her back. He spun her around once before putting her on her feet. When he leaned in to place a kiss on her cheek, I walked toward him, but Lee saw me coming and quickly grabbed Kasi. My eyes met Kai’s and he knew I was pissed. He didn’t smile, but the left side of his mouth quirked up in the start of a cocky grin. If I made it through the afternoon without beating his ass, I should get a fucking medal. I didn’t care that he was a rock god. He’d have a dent in his face from my knuckles.
They were still talking to one another when I decided to go inside and greet the dogs. At least they’d be happy to see me. I opened the door, and they came running over to me with their tails wagging and ears back. I didn’t get a chance to shut the door before Ace tore off outside with Lily hot on his heels. Lee saw them coming and got down on his knees with his arms open. Ace tackled him to the pavement. “Traitors!” I yelled.
“Don’t be jealous that your dog loves me more, Cole.” Lee laughed.
After Kasi was done greeting them, she made her way back to me. Her arms wrapped around my neck, and she planted one hell of a kiss on me. If you think I didn’t lay it on thick back, and looked at Kai for a brief second to rub it in, you’re wrong. I wasn’t above that. The look to him was brief, then my eyes closed and I soaked her in. She pulled back, just as it was getting good. Looking up into my eyes, she said, “Thank you for bringing them here.” I grunted. “You’re not thrilled they’re here, are you?”
“What do you think?”
She smiled. “I think you love me so you put your caveman bullshit aside long enough to let my friends visit.”
“Well…”
“Can you behave while they’re here?”
“I’ll do my best, baby. Only for you.”

“Ahem!” I heard come from behind Kasi. Lee was standing there eyeing us only a few feet away. “Are you going to make us stand out here all afternoon and freeze our balls off, or can we go inside?”
Stroking my goatee with my index finger and thumb, I mulled it over. “I don’t know. The idea of you two losing your balls is appealing.”
Kasi smacked my arm. “Ignore him and get inside.”
The dogs happily followed Kai and Lee into the house. “Even the dogs turned on me,” I mumbled.

“Well, get the fuck over it,” she scolded. “Stop acting like a child. They’re our dogs, not theirs. Check your ego at the door, because there will be no pissing match inside. Got it?”

Dropping down into the chair, I sipped my beer while listening to their conversation. It was apparent I was an outsider here. They reminisced about times when I wasn’t in the picture. The three of them laughed. Kai threw an arm over her shoulder in a friendly gesture, and they all seemed like the best friends they were. I felt like the fourth wheel, but no way was I leaving.
