What Hurts The Most 3 Page 11

by Tynessa

I’m not going to even lie, when I popped the question to Bree, I didn’t give a fuck how it might affect Shay. As I stated before, the love I had for her was gone, but she’s still the mother of my kids and we didn’t need to end our relationship on a bad note. That’s why I wanted to be the one to drop the bomb about me and Bree getting married to her. I swear, Bree could be dumb as fuck at times.

After sitting outside of the house Shay and me used to share together, I decided against going back inside to ring that bitch’s neck. I knew in a way I deserved the knife right in my back after all the bullshit I done put her through. It is what it is, though. I can’t help who has my heart.

Pulling up to Bree’s house, I threw the car in park and hopped out. I have every intention of slapping the shit out of that girl for running her mouth so much.

“Nigga don’t be barging into my shit like you ain’t got no damn sense. You need to get all your shit yo’ babymama brought over here and get up out of my house. Take your mothafuckin ass back to wherever you been for the past week.” Bree was all up in my face with her little fist balled up like she was ready to swing on my ass. I pushed her ass back with almost everything I had in me. She went flying over the glass coffee table, breaking it.

“You just had to go run your dick sucker to Shay, huh?” I said as I stood over her. Now usually Bree would’ve jumped right back in my face and been ready for war, but the look I was giving her ass let her know I wasn’t up for her shit today. I wasn’t going to beat her ass or nothing, but I was going to get my point across; plus, my daughter was there and I didn’t want her to see me acting out.

“We’ve talked about this shit before. I thought we agreed I was going to be the one to tell Shay about the engagement,” I said.

Slowly, Bree got off the floor and gave me a mug. She didn’t say anything as she grabbed our crying daughter and sat on the couch. That’s when she wanted to talk bad. She knew I wasn’t going to do shit to here while Brittani was present, but now she wanted to hold her and talk shit.

“Why the fuck does it matter? Let you tell it, you don’t want that bitch and from now on we’re going to be a family. Isn’t that what you said, Lo? Then out of nowhere you bring your damn kids over here and throw them on me. Shit, I ain’t they fucking mama, and I’m not the one that’s going to be watching them while you run the streets. That’s why I took them home. I only have one child and it’s neither one of them lil boys,” Bree spat smartly. It took everything in me to remain calm. Closing my eyes, I took a deep breath and counted up to ten.

“How can we be together when you’re not willing to be a mother to my kids?” I asked her. Now that Bree and me were engaged her true colors were showing, and how she really felt about my kids was coming out.

“Nigga you ain’t even being a father to them boys!” she gave me a smug look.

“First of all, you don’t know what goes on in my house. You don’t know how I treat my kids. You’re on the outside looking in. Now in order for us to be together, you have to accept my boys, just like Shay accepted Britt. One thing I can say about her, despite how she feels about you, she was always treating our daughter as if she was hers,” I stated the obvious.

“See, that’s the difference between me and her. I’ll never accept my nigga’s outside kids. If I was her, I would’ve left your trifling ass a long damn time ago! Shit, you do things that Tez wouldn’t dare do and you don’t see me comparing you to him; so let that me the last time you compare me to another bitch. I don’t give a fuck who she is!”

Did this mudded out ass ho just compare me to her ex?

“Bitch, if you ever compare me to that nigga again I will drop your ass right on the spot, and won’t think twice about it. I don’t give a fuck who right there watching,” I said seriously with a look that said I was dead ass forreal.

“Oh, so it’s okay for you to compare with to Shay but I can’t say shit about Tez?” Out of nowhere, Bree laughed right before telling Brittani to go to her room. Once she was out of sight, Bree turned to me with a scowl. “I see what this is, you’re jealous of Tez,” she gave me a deceitful grin. I just stared at her through narrowed eyes.

“Jealous? I ain’t never been jealous of the next nigga; so let’s get that shit clear right now. Matter of fact, don’t bring that mothafucka name up again in this house.”

“I bring up whoever name and whenever I want in my house! Tez, Tez, Tez and mothafucka Tez! How you like that, nigga?!” Bree’s childish ass said sarcastically. She folded her arms across her chest and stared at me like she dared me to do something about it.

“Keep playing with me, Bree. You about to find yourself stretched out on this floor in a puddle of blood. Keep on talking that bullshit. While you on that nigga’s dick, you better not have that son of bitch around my damn daughter. I tell you that. Death going to come to his ass sooner than he expect,” I let Bree know. That was my way of letting her ass know that her precious Tez was living on rented time.

“Oh believe me, you don’t have to worry about Tez coming over here,” Bree emphasized that nigga’s name. “Ever since he found out that you was Brittani’s father, he didn’t want shit else to do with me.” Now, if I didn’t know any better, I would think the broad was mad because of it.

“Oh, so you’re feeling some type of way because the nigga stopped speaking to you because of our daughter? Are you regretting my baby?” I mugged her ass.

“Lo, you know damn well I’m not regretting my baby.”

“That’s what it seem like to me. Shit, if he knew you helped send his ass to prison he would’ve been smoke yo’ dusty ass.”

Bree couldn’t say shit after that. All she did was drop her head.

“Yeah, that’s what I mothafuckin thought! Now I’m going to get the fuck up out of here before I end up fucking you up. And don’t think I’m excusing the fact that you didn’t mention when or how the nigga found out I was Brittani’s daddy. All I know is, you better not be on no slick shit or you’ll be six feet under with Tez!” This time, it was me emphasizing that nigga’s name. Bree might take me for a joke, but if I found out she had that man around my daughter, I was gonna end her life. I didn’t give a fuck how much I might love her ass, she’d be buried right on top of him.

“Oh, so you’re threatening me, now? That’s how you’re doing it?” Bree called out as I was making my way to the door. I stopped with my hand on the knob.

“Take it how you wanna.” With that, I walked right out the house, leaving her dumb ass sitting there looking stupid as fuck.

Getting inside my whip, I headed to my next destination. I had to meet with an old friend, someone that was very loyal to me. When I got to the bar, I checked my surroundings before walking inside. Since Tez and Jay was on to me, I had to watch my back with ever move I made. I knew those niggas, and I knew that weren’t just out riding around looking for me, because that wasn’t them. However, I knew if we crossed paths, they wouldn’t hesitate to blow my brains out, right on the spot.

“Bout time you showed up. I was starting to think you wasn’t going to come. So what can I do for you?” Detective Charles asked.

Detective Charles had been on my payroll for years now. I hired him right when Tez first introduced Bree as ‘his lady.’ At first, the thought of just killing Tez crossed my mind, but he was like a brother to me, so I wanted to spare his life. Plus, I really loved Ms. Jackie and didn’t want to hurt her; so, sending him away to prison for good, was the next best thing. Unfortunately, it didn’t work in my favor because the nigga was out four years later. To say I was pissed when the judge sentenced that mothafucka would’ve been an understatement, me and Bree both–well, her ass put on like she was pissed. I’m having doubts nowadays.

Jay, I never really had a problem with him. Shit, he earned major credit when he found out I was fucking Bree and got her pregnant, and he kept that a secret. Though Tez and me was once like brothers, I got closer to Jay when he got locked up. Too bad he made the wron
g decisions to go against me for his brother. We could’ve been getting Tez’s fortune together.

“I need all those mothafuckas out the picture,” I explained, getting straight to the point. My life was on the line and I knew if I didn’t off them, I would be the one that ended up dead.

“Okay. So what do you have planned this time, genius? You know those niggers have good lawyers, so they’re not about to do that much time. Not long-term as you’re hoping for, I can tell you that right now. Unless you have some major shit to pin on them,” said Detective Charles.

“Aye, I done told your cracker ass about that nigga bullshit. Keep on, the police force is gonna be looking for your racist ass,” I warned him. We were always going back and forth about that racist shit he would spit.

“Okay-Okay. No need to get hostile. It’s all love brotha-man!” this bastard said with his fist in the air. I couldn’t do shit but laugh.

“You so fucking dumb. But let’s be real and get down to business before I end up killing your ass. Tez, his brother, and Kacey is trying to take me out, but—”

“Kacey? The guy that,” he said, but I was already nodding my head letting him know it was the same Kacey he thought it was.

“Yeah, that one. I got my cousin here from New York to off those fools. He’s a natural born killer,” I let him know.

“Okay, so where do I come in at? You know I can’t do much, but I’m willing to help where I can,” Detective Charles said. This mothafucka was just as grimy as I was. If you didn’t know him, you would’ve never guessed he was a cop. After running my plans and filling him in on his small role, I was off to meet up with my cousin, Ke’unta.

  Chapter 23

  21 Questions

  Ke’unta

I really didn’t wanna bring my baby girl around this nigga Lo, because we were going to talk about shit she didn’t need to be hearing. I didn’t know what Asia had going on for today, but I couldn’t do nothing but respect it. It wasn’t like Keonna was her responsibility anyways. She’s my daughter, so I couldn’t even get mad when she informed me that she couldn’t watch her today. I just let her know that it was okay, and I needed to spend some time with her anyways.

Keonna, on the hand, was devastated and let it be known that she didn’t wanna hang out with me, because Asia was cooler than me. I couldn’t do shit but laugh when she said that, because baby girl wasn’t sugarcoating shit.

I decided to meet up with Lo at McDonald’s because for one, I promised Keonna that I would let her play in the play land, and two, this was a good way for us to talk without her hearing anything. It was like killing two birds with one stone. Lo didn’t really like the idea, but what could he do about it—not a damn thing!

I spotted my big head ass cousin walking in the door of the play land, then over my way. It was still kind of early, so no one was in there but us.

“What’s up? Hey Keonna,” he spoke as he rubbed the top of her head and sat beside her. Keonna waved before looking at him like he was crazy.

“Don’t eat my food,” she said angrily. My daughter didn’t like anyone fucking with her food, so she was ready to fuck Lo up when he grabbed one of her fries.

“Damn, my fault lil mama,” Lo laughed as he held up both his hands. I laughed as well before telling Keonna to go play.

I knew Lo’s mouth was reckless, and I didn’t allow all that unnecessary cursing around my baby. I was trying to raise a lady, not no damn hoodrat. That’s why I was trying to cancel this bullshit ass meeting with Lo, but his ass was ready to get this show on the road because some shit had went down. He didn’t say what, but I was eager to find out what it was. His ass better not have been bringing no heat around here and I got my daughter with me.

“So what’s up? What’s so important?” I asked when Keonna was out of earshot.

“Man bruh, I been laying low for about a week because those bastards on to me. I told you we should’ve taken that nigga Jay out a while ago. You have to perfect opportunity now that you have his b—” I looked at his ass with a raised brow. “I meant his old lady. That shit ain’t gonna be hard at all, cuz. You have the ball in your hands. I can easily set up Tez by using my baby mama Bree. Nigga in love with her,” Lo went on to say.

I wasn’t really trying to hurt Asia. I knew for a fact that if she found out I killed her ex, that would end our relationship. That was something I didn’t want. Asia being in my life was one of the best things that had ever happened to me, plus I wasn’t trying to break my daughter’s heart; but if someone was gunning for my blood cousin, why should I spare their life?

“Man, I ain’t really trying to break Asia’s heart. I know how she feels about that guy, so me killing him would only run her off,” I rubbed the top of my head as I leaned back in my seat. This was a tough decision.

“Damn cuz, that girl got you pussy whipped. So, you okay with her being in love with that nigga while you’re in love with her?” Lo looked at me like I was crazy.

It did seem that way. I don’t know why I couldn’t just smoke that nigga and call it a day, especially after all the time he had come at me as if I was a sucker ass nigga. Hell, any other time I would’ve smoked the son of bitch the first time he got wrong, but I spared his life for the sake of Asia.

“Think about it, cuz. Once that nigga’s out the picture, Asia would be all yours. Believe me, as long as Jay is around, Asia will never fully commit herself to you. She’s probably over there fucking that nigga as we speak. You see we had to bring lil mama with us.” Me and Lo both looked over Keonna. This nigga was actually making sense. “Come on Ke’, think, what could Asia possibly be doing that she couldn’t watch you daughter? It ain’t like she’s working.”

“You really think she still fucking him?” was all I could muster out. Don’t get me wrong, I knew Asia still had feelings for the guy, but her still fucking around with him never crossed my mind.

“Hell yeah I do. I know for a fact that she is.” That’s when Lo slid his phone across the table. On there was a photo of Asia’s car in a driveway. I looked at him confusedly. “Okay, what’s this?” I asked as I slid the phone right back to him.

“She’s at that nigga house. I rode past there right before I came to meet you. Her car was parked out front. I’m telling you cuz; if you don’t off that nigga, he’s going to take your lady from you. Just like his brother Tez is trying to take mine.”

Now, I know how my cousin is. The nigga is conniving and will say or do anything to get what he wants; and didn’t care who it might affect in the process. If he could get away with it, the nigga would probably kill his kids if they got in his way.

“He trying to get Shay?” I asked confusedly.

“Hell nah. He trying to get my little girl, Brittani, mama. Nigga been having his eye on her since we were kids. That’s part of the reason I’m trying to put those grimy niggas six feet under. I guess the nigga is salty since Bree wouldn’t give him the time of day, now he wants me out the way so he can have her. If it wasn’t for you, the nigga would be dead,” Lo went on the say as he shook his head and looked at me in disgust.

“Nigga don’t look at me like that. Hell, I didn’t know that was your ass busting at that mothafucka. I didn’t know what was going on,” I explained defensively.

“I hear what you saying, but you ain’t even know homes like that to be trying to play captain-save-a-nigga. You really think if you was the one being shot at he would’ve been out there busting trying to save you?” Lo looked at me like I was stupid as he waited for me to answer his question. The mothafucka had a point, and that’s why I didn’t say shit. I just rubbed the back of my head.

  “Exactly! So you already know—”

“Daddy, I’m ready to go back to Miss Asia’s house,” Keonna ran up and said, cutting Lo off and causing him to look at her as if she was crazy. I’m going to end up going off in his shit before long. His disrespectful ass irks my nerves sometimes.

“Yeah baby girl, let’s go.” I got out my s
eat. Lifting Keonna in my arms, I picked up her trash and was just about to walk off until Lo stopped me.

“Aye, think about what I just said and get back with me. The sooner you do, the sooner we can get this bread and live comfortable with our women,” Lo’s manipulative ass smiled. I just nodded my head and walked off.

On the way back to Asia’s house, so many things were running through my head. I wondered was she really fucking with ol’ boy today. My cousin was making sense, because any other day she would be happy to keep Keonna, but all of a sudden, today her ass had something she wanted to take care of. I wasn’t going to press the issue or come off as the jealous type of dude, but Asia was about to tell me something.

When I pulled up in the driveway, Asia’s car was parked out front. Getting out, I got my daughter out and we walked up to the front door. I was just ready to get in there to read her demeanor. I wasn’t about to play nobody’s fool.

“Miss Asia,” Keonna squealed as we walked in. This damn girl loved herself some Asia. It took everything in my to keep the serious look that displayed on my face. Just the sight of the love and affection that Asia gave to my daughter amazed me. I couldn’t wait for us to become a family one day.

“I missed you today baby,” said Asia as she hugged my daughter. Keonna said she missed her too, and I tuned them out as they talked and played with one another. My brain was all over the place.

“Hey baby. What’s wrong with you?” Asia finally acknowledged me once Keonna went to the spare bedroom to play. I didn’t respond right away, because I wasn’t sure if I wanted to approach her about some shit Lo had said. On the other hand, I needed to know.

“Did you fuck him today?” I blurted out. I didn’t mean for it to come out like that but shit, oh well. Asia looked at me as if I’d just lost my mind. After a long intense stare, her face softened and she dropped her head. I knew right then that she did.
