I felt myself blush wildly, which caused Aaron to laugh loudly. He moved closer, grabbing both my shoulders.
“You’re so easy to mess with. I’m kidding. Open your eyes.” He said between laughs.
Hesitantly, I opened my eyes, coming face to face with Aaron.
In his boxers.
He was smirking, his arms folded across his taught chest.
“See?” He said, splaying his arms out to show me his body and giving me a full 360.
“The artefacts are not on display.” He joked, raising a slender eyebrow.
I feigned a frown.
“Oh, woe me.”
He laughed, and I used the distraction to push him to the door again.
“Leave, Aaron. I’ll see you in school tomorrow.”
Aaron grinned widely, running back to the bed.
“I’m sleeping here for tonight.” He beamed, crossing his arms behind his head.
I shook my head.
“You can’t, Aaron.”
He nodded in response.
“Yes, I can. The old man gave permission. I’m all yours for tonight.” He said, biting his lip.
I dismissed the butterflies in my stomach, so I could focus on the shock.
My dad gave permission for Aaron to stay for the night?
My dad?
“What?” I said, my mouth shooting open.
Aaron nodded again.
“Yeah and close your mouth before I play game of beer pong.” He said, waggling his eyebrows.
“Just don’t get any nightmares and wake me up for comfort or something or I’ll feed you to the neighbour’s dogs.” I warned, pointing to the window for effect.
Aaron raised an eyebrow.
“Wake you up for comfort? How old do you think I am? 12?” He questioned.
I shook my head.
“With your immature attitude and irresistible baby pout, I wouldn’t blame anyone who assumed you to be.” I said, heading towards the bed.
Aaron sat still, his face deep in thought before a small smirk crept on his face.
“So, what I’m hearing is you find me irresistible?” He said.
Wow!
I sighed, grabbing a pillow and moved towards the sofa. Before I could reach, Aaron grabbed my arm.
“What are you doing?” He questioned, his eyebrows furrowed in confusion.
“Sleeping on the sofa?” I said in a ‘duh’ tone.
Huh? This conversation seems somewhat familiar.
Aaron shook his head.
“No, you’re not. You’re sleeping on the bed.” He said, pointing towards the bed. He walked towards me and grabbed the pillow.
“But..” I protested.
“No buts. You’re on the bed.” He ordered, dropping the pillow onto the bed.
I rolled my eyes.
Yep, this conversation is definitely déjà vu.
“I’m going to go to the bathroom.” Aaron said and with that he was gone.
I sighed deeply. It seemed like I was doing a lot of that these days. Changing into other clothes, I dropped onto the bed, pulling the covers over me.
My eyes suddenly felt heavy. It was a long day.
An angry dad, an emotional mom and two dates in one night, I thought to myself.
Two dates? Were they both really dates? Well, I definitely knew one of them was.
Elliot liked me. I knew that. Why else would he try to kiss me? I guess, I could consider him inviting me to eat as a date.
Yet, Aaron didn’t like me. He asked me out to eat merely as a token of gratitude for helping him and, that too, out of inconvenience by running into me in the streets. That’s hardly a date.
We also had that awkward moment in the water where he thought of another. That wouldn’t happen during a date.
I heard the bathroom door open, signalling that Aaron was out. I heard a little shuffling and then silence.
I sighed, feeling very tired. I closed my eyes, drifting off to a deep sleep.
Suddenly, an arm enclosed around my waist.
“Aargh!” I screaming, hitting at whatever touched me.
“Woah! Woah! Easy on the face!” Aaron said, using his arms as defence.
Aaron? What was he doing lying near me? I thought he didn’t want to before. Why now?
So many questions whirled around in my head.
“Aaron? What are you doing here?” I questioned, curiously.
Aaron looked at me blankly.
“Trying to get to sleep without being mauled by a rogue 5ft imp, but that’s clearly not working out so well.” Aaron stated, rubbing where I hit.
I slapped his arm again, making him yelp.
“Aaron, I’m serious. I thought you were going to sleep on the sofa.” I asked, pointing towards the sofa.
Aaron furrowed his eyebrows.
“Can’t I sleep here?” He questioned.
I shook my head.
“Its not that. Its just last time you slept on the sofa, so I thought..”
Aaron nodded slowly.
“Yeah, well, last time things were different.” Aaron stated seriously.
I gazed at Aaron, confused. What was different?
“What?” I questioned.
Aaron waved his hand around dismissively.
“Forget about it. I’m tired.” He said, snuggling his head into the pillow.
I cooed internally at the sleeping figure. He looked like a little kitten.
His eyes were closed and he looked so peaceful, his lashes beautifully long; contrasting with his tanned face. His nose sharp, just like his jaw and his lips- so full and firm. They stood out on his face:- full and dark pink.
I felt tempted to touch it. They looked soft and I imagined the way they’d feel against mine. Carefully, I slowly reached out towards his lips.
“I’ve been thinking about our class together tomorrow.” Aaron suddenly spoke, his eyes still shut.
I withdrew my hand quickly, breathing heavily.
“Y-yeah. And?” I asked nervously.
Aaron shrugged.
“Don’t know, but I was thinking we could do something more than just hand holding, you know?”
I gazed at him curiously.
“With your mom not there, is there really anything that needs to be done for our plan?” I questioned, not knowing what he meant by ‘something more’.
Aaron shook his head and moved slightly closer.
“Honestly, I’m also using this to show everyone that I can hold down a girl.” He said.
He, suddenly, opened his cat-like eyes. They glowed as he looked at me.
“I mean, yeah I fuck about from time to time, but it doesn’t mean that girls can literally throw themselves at me for one-night-stands. I’d actually want more than that. I don’t sleep with just anyone, you know?”
He smiled slightly.
“I mean, relationships can be good too.” He said, shrugging
I smiled back. Although, I was nervous of what ‘something more’ was, I nodded for I wanted to help.
Aaron was many things:- cocky, immature, crude. Not to mention, he would sleep around sometimes, but that doesn’t mean girls can straight-out suggest that he play a ‘fuck and chuck’ on them. It’s basically the equivalent of being a prostitute.
Aaron smiled.
“Thanks.”
I smiled in return.
“Night, Aaron.” I said gently, turning around.
I felt an arm slowly slither around my waist.
“Aaron!” I warned.
“For warmth?” Aaron meekly suggested.
I tutted, but- nevertheless- the grin didn’t leave my face. I closed my eyes, drifting off to the deep sleep that was interrupted before.
The last thing I felt was a hand stroke my cheek.
“Night, princess” I heard Aaron whisper and, with that, I went to sleep with a smile.
No thoughts about what was to happen tomorrow.
4- More Than This
I woke up with a con
tent yawn. Last night was, by far, the best sleep I’ve had for as long as I’ve known though I had no idea why.
I stretched my arms above my head, looking around the room. Aaron’s jeans lay on the floor along with his top and his shoes. If anyone else awoke to this ‘picture’, the thoughts going through their head would be phenomenal, but- with Aaron- I knew better than to think otherwise.
I turned to Aaron, smiling. The blanket stopped at his waist, his toned torso on display. He smiled in his sleep. So calm; so peaceful.
God, I wish I could suffocate him with a pillow.
It’s all his fault that this was happening. The anxiousness for what was going to happen tomorrow; the hell I went through with my parents yesterday.
The butterflies in my stomach.
I shook my head to clear my mind. I could not be attracted to Aaron. He was... Bad.
Before I could think of a better synonym, Aaron groaned loudly, stretching his arms over his head. He looked around the room- confused for a minute- before he realised where he was. Slowly, he turned to me, a lazy smile on his lips.
“Morning.” He murmured, looking at his watch.
I rolled my eyes.
“Normal people usually say ‘good’ morning. It sounds more nice.”
Aaron looked up from his watch, a smirk on his face.
“Well, maybe I’m not normal. Maybe I’m special.”
I laughed.
“Yes. You’re one of a kind.” I said, smiling comically wide.
Aaron nodded, a smile on his face.
“A beauty amongst beasts.” I continued, the big grin still on my face.
Aaron nodded yet again.
“The last of your species.” I said, replacing the grin with a monotone face.
Aaron began to nod before fully realising what I had said. He pouted exaggeratedly.
“Sadly, yes, I am the last of my kind, but who knows...”
He sat up, moving closer to me.
“I can always interbreed.” He whispered suggestively, making my cheeks red.
I pushed him away by his chest and got up.
“Get up. We’re going to get late.” I said, without making eye contact and made my way to the bathroom.
I heard him laugh before I fully shut the door.
Jerk.

“Where’s the ‘boyfriend’?” Dad questioned, grimacing as he said the last word.
Well, at least this time he said BOYfriend.
We were currently eating breakfast at the table and I was highly uncomfortable because of two reasons.
1) These jeans were giving me a huge wedgie.
2) The scrutinising stares that I was receiving from my dad who sat across the table were enough to make The Hulk cower.
He scanned me up and down with glaring eyes, probably trying to detect if there were any hickeys or if I had a certain glow about me.
Well, I don’t know what he expected to find. I mean, even if I did do it- which I didn’t- did he expect to see a ‘I had steamy sex with Aaron walker’ across my forehead in permanent sharpie.
I rolled my eyes, ignoring the stares and carried on eating my cereal.
It was then that Aaron decided to come down. He, obviously, received the same stares, but because he was Aaron, he didn’t seem to notice.
My mum was the first to speak.
“Oh, Aaron, honey! Why don’t you come eat breakfast! Come; sit here.” She cooed, patting the seat beside her.
Aaron smiled kindly at her. Not that I would know that it was a kind smile, I mean, he’s never given me that smile.
Great, am I really envious of my own mother?
“Thanks, but I’m good.” He said, smiling that kind unfamiliar smile.
This only made my mom smile wider.
“No. I insist.” She urged, patting the seat vigorously.
Aaron hesitated for a minute, his eyes glancing at me, before he smiled yet again and sat in the chair that my mom probably broke with her insane tapping.
“Maybe just a bite.” He finalised to himself.
****************
“Just a bite, my ass!” I snorted when he exited the house. After seeing Aaron engulf a dozen toasts and a bowl of cereal alongside two glasses of orange juice, I was gobsmacked.
Huh, maybe he was another specie.
Aaron raised a slender eyebrow.
“Did you just say ‘bite my ass’?” He questioned with a smirk.
I groaned loudly.
“God, you’re intolerable.” I said, although inside I was laughing quietly. It did sound like I said that.
Aaron tutted, ruffling my hair.
“That’s not a nice thing to say to the man who drives you all the way to school. I mean, if he wished, he could leave you stranded in the middle of nowhere.”
I snorted yet again.
“Man?” I questioned.
Aaron smirked.
“Do I need to prove myself again?” He asked, putting his hand on the waistband of his jeans.
I swatted at his hands.
“As much as I’d like that, Aaron, I’d actually like getting to school early a lot more.” I droned, grabbing Aaron’s keys.
“What are you doing?” Aaron questioned, his eyes widening.
“Unlocking the door because you were taking so long?” I explained, looking at him weirdly. I unlocked the door and threw the keys back to him which he skilfully caught.
Show off.
Aaron sighed deeply, running a hand threw his hair.
“Thank god. I thought you were taking the keys to drive the car.” He chuckled, relief clear in his voice.
I gasped loudly.
“I can drive, you know!” I said defensively.
Aaron laughed.
“No, you can’t.”
I folded my arms.
“And pray tell, Aaron, why can’t I?” I asked curiously.
Aaron smiled looking me up and down.
“Because you’re a girl.” He said ever-so casually, opening the door and ducking in.
What.The.Actual.Fuck.
“What did you say?!” I shouted, ducking my head in the car as well. I sat facing towards him, giving him an incredulous look.
As soon as door shut behind me, Aaron revved off at the speed of light.
Well, it wasn’t the speed of light, but I’m pretty sure it was nearing or over the road limit speed.
I turned to Aaron yet again, putting my seatbelt on in fear that I might go through the front window if he made a haste brake.
“Did you just say ‘women can’t drive?!’” I growled and, I bet, it would have sent Aslan running for the wardrobe.
Aaron grinned, rubbing his eye.
“Geez, I didn’t know you were such a feminist.” He said, his eyes on the road, but they glittered with amusement. I know he was just saying these things because he knew exactly what to say to rile me up.
I raised my eyebrows.
“Do I have to be a feminist to protect my own sex?” I questioned.
Aaron snickered.
“Sex.” He repeated.
I sighed.
“See, that’s the thing with boys. They’re so immature.” I rolled my eyes.
Aaron scoffed, turning to me for a split second, before putting his eyes back on the road.
“There’s a difference between immaturity and having fun.”
I nodded.
“Boys don’t seem to know this difference. They’re always goofing about and never know how to be serious.” I said as Aaron parked into the school car park.
He turned to me, shrugging half-heartedly.
“Maybe goofing about is the only way they can avoid being serious.” He said and with that he was out the car.
That was surprisingly deep.
I breathed a sigh and got out.

“So, after this, the B cells engulf the pathogen and the pathogen then goes through antigen processing.
..” Mr. Collins rambled on, unaware of all the students he was putting to sleep.
On a usual day, I would have been asleep, my snored muffled by the textbook.
However, it wasn’t an ordinary day. After Aaron dropped me to my locker, he had left for his class.
Well, not before giving me a quick kiss and telling me to prepare for my next class.
My next class with Aaron...
And he had planned something, I’m sure of it.
I sighed. What would more be exactly?
A kiss?
I scoffed. In Aaron’s eyes, that’s barely anything. In my eyes, it was the 10th base- if such base existed.
The bell rang, acting as an alarm clock for 99% of the class. I got up slowly, dreading what was to come.
Trudging through the hallways, I made it to maths, preparing myself for the worst.
I sighed and looked around as Aaron was nowhere in sight nor was the teacher. I made my way to my seat, making sure to avoid eye contact with Britney and her bimbos’.
Wow, I just made them sound like a cheesy sitcom.
I sat in my chair awaiting both the teacher and Aaron. What could be holding them up?
The door opened with a loud thud and everyone’s eyes were on the door. Obviously, that’s what always happens when Aaron was at the door. The attention always seemed to be on him. He walked in slowly, his eyes on me.
I smiled, putting the ‘fake girlfriend’ facade up.
“Hey, where were-”
I was cut off by Aaron dropping to his knees. Well, one knee to be exact.
He was kneeling, his beautiful eyes staring up at me as he bit his lip. A small case was in his hand.
I would have found that hot if I wasn’t wholly concentrated on my anxiety.
What was going on?
5- The Eagle And The Mouse
What was going on?
****************
The gasps and whispers in the room were loud enough to break and shatter the sound barrier.
Which I think it did because Aaron was calling me. I was sure of it, but I couldn't hear him over the sound of my nervousness.
Only when he snapped his fingers in my face was I bought back to Earth.
"Huh?" I said dumbly.
Aaron's eyebrows furrowed.
"I said 'are you okay?'" Aaron said, repeating his words.
He slowly stood up, putting the back of his hand to my forehead.
