“Very well, I’ll let you know if anything changes.”

“I’ve sent one of my men to go meet a woman that might know more about the conversion process.” He continued. “This might be what we need to save Eleanor.” He added in a softer tone.

Brynjar rubbed his eyes, feeling stressed and more worried than ever.

“Very well. Let me know the minute you discover anything that might help us.”

“I told him to go as fast as he could. It should only take him a few hours.” He informed, ending the call.

Brynjar returned to the chair next to Eleanor’s bed, praying she would be alright. The doctors kept checking on her, and though apparently, the blood loss had stopped, it didn’t look as if the wounds had healed.

The minutes felt like hundreds of rotations, and he was getting more and more desperate. By the time Colborn returned, he was about to crawl the walls.

“Tell me, what the woman told your man?” he asked as soon as the other man set foot in the room.

“She assures the ritual works. She claims to descend from a human that was converted, while our people had first arrived here from our original planet.” He informed as soon as he walked in.

“Can we believe in her?” he asked, trying to hold his hopes at bay.

“I don’t know. My man says she seemed sure of what she was saying and had a lot more details on the whole process than we had, but it’s still a risk.” He admitted, in a stern tone, while he checked on Eleanor.

“How’s she doing?” he asked, not pleased with the doctor’s frown.

“The meds are the only thing preventing her from bleeding out. The minute we suspend treatment, she’ll start bleeding again.” He informed, sounding as worried as he looked.

Brynjar rubbed his face, desperate. He didn’t want to put her through anything that might harm her even more, or even kill her.

“Can we wait a while longer to see if she gets a bit stronger?” he asked, looking at Colborn.

“Yes, so far she’s stable. I’m getting some fluids into her body to prevent dehydration, so she should be alright for now.” He assured while he checked on her vitals.

  “Then we’ll wait.”

The other man nodded, looking at his friend. “You need to get some rest.” He scolded him.

“I won’t leave her side.” He replied, in a determined tone.

  “She won’t wake up.”

  “I don’t care.”

“Allow me to bring a bed here, then. You could at least rest next to her,” he suggested, with a slight frown. “You’ll need all of your energies, of you, decide to go through the conversion.”

After a few moments, he finally nodded accepting the other man’s suggestion.

Colborn took care of everything before he went back home.

Brynjar spent the whole night considering his options. He wished he knew more about the human race so that he could be able to heal her but they lacked any knowledge of them to take more risks.

If the legends were right, he would be able to convert her, and all of their problems would be over. She would be able to heal herself and walk again. But the risk was so high; he was having a hard time making a decision.

Colborn returned the following morning with more news.

“I had Rosalind staying at my house tonight. Fortunately, she woke up feeling a lot better.” He told the king. “According to what she said, the human beings have four types of blood and trying to give them a different kind of blood might kill them. They are supposed to produce the lost blood, but Eleanor isn’t producing any.” He explained.

“Why do you think is that?” Brynjar asked with a frown.

“She’s too hurt. Eskol tortured her body so much it collapsed. Her whole body is on standby, held by the medicines I gave her, but I’m sure the minute I take her off them, she’ll start bleeding once more. There’s too much damage to her immune system.”

“Do you think she’ll survive the first two stages of the conversion?” he asked, realizing he had no other option.

“Yes, I believe she would be able to go through it.” He nodded, optimistic. “If the legends are accurate, she should feel better after the first blood exchange.”

“There are way too many ‘ifs’ for my taste,” Brynjar grumbled, but he had to trust everything would work because he wasn’t ready to lose her. “When can we do it?”

“As soon as you want to. I’ll reduce the pain medicines, so she’s conscious and then it’s all up to you.”

“I want to take her back to the palace, may I?”

“Yes, you should be able to do it. Due to her delicate condition, you should have the three stages done on the same night. I know it might be a bit more dangerous, but I don’t think waiting any longer would be a good idea.” The doctor warned.

Brynjar nodded. If he was going to do this, then it would be better to go through it as soon as possible.

“Just let your instincts take over, and everything will be alright.” He advised him.

  “Let’s hope so.”

Brynjar had never felt so scared in his whole life, and he knew the feeling would only grow worse as the time goes by.

“Let’s take her back to the palace. I can wake her up there.” Colborn suggested, and soon she was being taken on some sort of ambulance.

When they finally reached Brynjar’s room, he put her on his bed and allowed Colborn to diminish her medicines in order to wake her up.

  “Will she be in pain?”

“Not sure, but if she is, it shouldn’t be that much as for her to be uncomfortable.” He estimated. “Let me know if she complains, and I’ll come to check on it. I’ll be here, at the palace.”

“Thank you, I’ll let you know.”

Colborn nodded and left the couple alone.

With a long sigh, Brynjar laid on the bed next to her, caressing her face gently. She looked so pale, so fragile he couldn’t help feeling this whole plan was insane.

  Chapter Nineteen

The first thing she felt was the soreness on her entire body. Was it possible she was still alive? Her eyes fluttered open, and the first thing she saw was Brynjar lying next to her.

“Hey… how are you feeling?” he whispered in her ear.

“Sore…” she grumbled, feeling her mouth dry as a desert. “I thought I had died…” she admitted locking her eyes on his.

There was so much grief in his eyes; she closed hers, unwilling to look at it.

“You almost did. I almost lost you in the hands of that maniac.” He said, with still so much anger in his tone she was sure he would kill him all over again if he could.

“But I am dying.” She wasn’t asking. She was sure.

“Not if I have a say on that.” He said with so much fervor she almost believed him.

She chuckled and caressed his cheek. “There’s nothing you can do about it.”

He kissed her lips gently. “Yes, there is. And I won’t give up, not until we exhaust all of the possibilities.” He assured her.

“What could you possibly do?” she asked, with disbelief.

“I’ll convert you into a drogon. That way, you’ll be able to heal yourself.”

She looked at him as if he had lost his mind. “You could only do that if I were your soulmate, and we both know that’s not true.” She said with a slight frown, feeling the clutch of pain around her heart.

He shook his head. “Think about it, válkana. How can you not be my soulmate, my other half, my whole universe?” he asked in a gentle tone.

“But… you… you never said…” she sobbed, unable to believe his words.

“You’re my soulmate. My whole world and I won’t let you die on me. You would take my life away with you.” He confirmed.

Eleanor swallowed hard and looked at him, seeing the truth displayed on his face. She sobbed harder at the cruelty of life, giving her all the love she had always craved when she was dying.

“I won’t let you die.” He stated,
in a powerful tone.

She smiled through the tears running down her cheeks. “I heard Colborn telling you the conversion wasn’t safe, that I might die in the process.” She reminded him.

He closed his eyes while hugging her closer to him. “It’s a possibility yes. And I won’t even try it if you decide you don’t want to take the risk.” He said in the saddest tone she had ever heard. “I’m willing to take it. I would go to the end of the universe and back if I knew I would get a chance on saving you.” He added, with all the love he felt for her oozing from his words.

She sobbed louder and buried her face in his chest. “I want to try. I don’t want to die.” She stammered through her sobs.

“You won’t die. The conversion will work, and we’ll be able to fully live our lives.” He said, stamping more confidence into his words than he actually felt.

She nodded, wrapping her arms around him.

“Just trust me and everything will be alright.” He added, holding her tighter against him, while his lips claimed a kiss from hers, gently at first, but growing deeper as their passion wakened up.

Kiss after kiss, they got rid of their clothes, and soon they were lost in the blissful world of bliss conjured by their passion and love. Though the usual eagerness was there, like always, Brynjar held it back as much as he could, determine to make things as pleasant as possible for her. He knew she was still sore and the last thing he wanted was to cause her any more pain.

His hands and lips scroll down to her deliciously round breasts, relishing on their sweetness as he kissed and licked, nibbled and sucked, going from one to the other, while one of his hands was rubbing and pinching that little knot of pleasure hidden between her legs. Soon, she was arching her body towards him, with sheer need, as her moans and whimpers filled the room.

Leaving her breasts behind, he slid down her belly until he reached her throbbing pussy, swirling her clitoris with his tongue the way he knew she loved, being gifted with the small cry ripped out of her sweet lips.

Eleanor gasped for air when he pushed two of his fingers deep inside her, eager for so much more.

He was pushing her over the edge once more, and she could already feel a powerful orgasm building inside her. A few more thrusts and she were swirling in turmoil of pleasure and bliss.

With one last swirl of his tongue, Brynjar left her clit to focus his attention on her back entrance, smearing it with her own juices, and quickly stretching her and getting her ready for him. His own arousal was reaching unbearable levels, and he could feel he was about to lose control, while his scales, fangs, and claws came out and his wings displayed themselves on his back.

Taking her legs in his arms, he positioned himself and slowly, he pushed his way in inside her.

She let out a loud moan, still lost in the haze of pleasure of her first orgasm, feeling as he pulled her back to the road towards another one.

He growled deep when got deep inside her, before he started to thrust in and out of her, going faster and deeper with each thrust until he felt he was about to lose control, his whole body shuddering with craving need.

Leaning over her, he allowed his instincts to take over; praying to the universe things would work out.

His fangs buried themselves on her ivory left breast and sucked her essence while both his cocks poured himself inside her, on the most powerful orgasm he had ever felt. She came with him, sobbing and panting as the waves of pleasure crashed over her, while she was still hooked on him, in every possible way.

His fangs finally left her, and his tongue licked the bites, healing and sealing the tiny holes.

Still breathing hard and still buried in her, he slashed his wrist open with his claw and gently pulling her head up, he gave her his own blood.

She drank it all, finding its taste entirely different from her blood, and definitely a lot hotter.

When he finally allowed her to rest back on the bed, they were both drained and shocked by the surreal experience they had just lived. Brynjar gently slid out of her and rolled in bed until he was lying next to her.

“How are you feeling?” he whispered with a huskier tone than usual. He was still panting and heaving heavily, like her.

“Still floating on paradise.” She assured him, through ragged gasps. “If I die, I’ll die happy because I met you,” she added, cupping his face with one of her hands.

“You won’t die.” He assured her, kissing the palm of her hand.

They stayed there for a few more minutes before he carried her to the bathtub he prepared for her. The healing power of the water appeased her sore body, and after a while, she was feeling a bit better.

“Do you feel weaker after I took the blood from you?” he asked her, on the tub, with her cuddled up in his arms.

She assessed her whole body and realized she wasn’t feeling any worse after the wild session of love making. In fact, she was feeling better than ever, ever since she woke up. “No, I’m feeling better,” she informed him, with a pleased smile.

They stayed for a while on the bathtub, before he decided it was enough and carried her back to the bedroom. He wanted her to eat something, but the idea of food nauseated her, so he didn’t insist, ordering some fruit juice instead. But her stomach wasn’t able to deal with that either, and Brynjar immediately summoned Colborn.

The doctor was still in the palace and came at once, with a portable scanner. He checked her thoroughly.

“I can’t see any change, at least not for the worst. Her internal organs seem less inflamed, and there’s a better color on her cheeks.” The doctor concluded. “Perhaps she’s feeling nauseated because of your blood. After all, it was ingested.”

Brynjar didn’t like the sound of that, but he kept his toughs to himself. There was no point in worrying her.

“Just let her get some rest before you try the second stage.” The doctor had advised him before he left the room.

Both men were still worried about the possible consequences of the conversion, but there was nothing harder than being out of options.

When Brynjar returned to his bedroom, after walking out his friend, he found Eleanor sound asleep. There was so much peace on her face; he decided not to disturb her in any way. So, he went to the other room and picked up a chair so he could sit next to her.

She didn’t sleep much. When she moved on the bed and didn’t find him lying next to her, her eyes opened up.

“Why aren’t you in bed?” she scolded him in a soft tone.

“I didn’t want to disturb your sleep.” He said, hopping up of the chair and joining her in bed.

“Your absence disturbs me, didn’t you know that?” she asked, wiggling her index finger in front of his face.

He captured her finger with his lips with a wicked shine on his eyes. “It won’t happen again.” He promised, with her finger still inside his mouth.

She chuckled but didn’t even try to pull her finger out. Instead, she got closer to him and pulled his tunic over his head. His wings and fangs were gone, but his scales and claws were still there she couldn’t help feeling amazed at his ability to summon the parts of the drogon he wanted to. They were amazing creatures, there was no doubt.

She allowed herself the pleasure of exploring the brownish scales at will, running her fingers up and down his neck.

“Aren’t you sleepy?” he asked, amused.

“No… not even a little bit.” She assured him as she straddled him, leaned her head down, and started to caress his coarse skin with her tongue. She had no idea if he could feel it, but she sure as hell was feeling it.

But the soft chills running down his spine told her exactly how much he was feeling, and that encouraged her to go on, teasing him and caressing him as if she had never done before.

Knowing he loved her made a hell of a difference. She could act freely, without having to hide the way she always melted under his touch and how deep he had managed to go on her heart and soul.

He pulled her up and claim
ed her lips in a passionate kiss, taking her breath away, before he turned her in bed and took control of the situation.

Despite the fabulous orgasm they had experienced just a few hours ago, it didn’t take them much to reach new heights, and once more, Brynjar thrust both his cocks deep inside her and took her to their private paradise of pleasure and bliss.

He retook her blood, struggling to control his thirst but not wanting to do things half way. There was too much at stake.

Again, he slid his wrist with his claw and once more, he gave her his blood as well, allowing her to drink as much as she could, wishing it would strengthen her for the final mating.

This encounter drained them even more, and they collapsed on the bed and slept for a few hours in each other’s arms.

  Chapter Twenty

Brynjar was the first one to regain consciousness and immediately prepared a hot bath for her. Once more, she rejected any food or drink, and though it worried him a lot, he preferred not to insist. The first stage hung over their heads like a death sentence, and though he knew there was no way back, he was more scared than ever in his life. He couldn’t face the possibility of losing her, he simply couldn’t.

She must have sensed the trouble in his mind, because she turned around and straddled him, cupping his face with both her hands.

“We’ll be alright. And if by any chance we aren’t, then be sure you made me the happiest woman in the whole universe.” She assured him. “I love you so much like I never even thought possible to love someone else. Always remember that and live your life as best as you can. Promise me.”

“I can never be happy without you.” he groaned, oozing his pain.

“Of course, you can, and you will if you have to. You’ll help your people to prosper and solve the population problem in a way you’ll be worried about an overpopulated planet in no time.” She said with a smile.

“I need you next to me to achieve that.”

She smiled and kissed him. “And I will be. We just need faith and believe this will work.” She added with a confident tone.
